More Purple Recipe Options

I'd like to suggest the creation of more purple recipes for powers that do not currently have them. For example -

SLOW

FEAR

HEALING

... etc.

This would give us the opportunity to slot our characters with something other than Armageddon, Ragnarok, Hecatomb, etc.

Purple intangibility recipes now!

>.>

I'm not sure how soon you'd see - using your examples - slow and fear. Healing, though, yeah. I'm surprised we haven't seen it yet. Or for that matter, defense or resist. I'm all for seeing more recipes, though. (Then again, we have a *sleep* set.)

Current sets:
Melee, Ranged, PBAOE, Targetted AOE, pet damage, hold, immobilize, sleep, stun, confuse.

Personal suggestions:
Healing - this should be an obvious category.
Taunt - Yeah, I know, "What?" But given every tank/brute attack (IIRC) can slot for taunt, for starters, and many "tankerminds" might be able to use it, I'd say it'd have some good penetration.
Slow - I think I'd be fine with, actually.
Recharge Intensive Pets - Every controller, every dom, several MMs, some Defenders/Corruptors, some Blasters, Warshades, every villain with the patron pet.... it'd be usable.

I wouldnt' actually mind another Snipe set so we have something other than SotM to look for. (Yes, I do use snipes.)

Co-sign, how haven't heal, resist, defense, and even endurance mod got their purple set yet?

What would be the impact on existing supply/demand in adding more recipes to water down the current availibility?

What was the impact the last several times they've added previously non-existent sets? (see also Accurate To-Hit Debuff, Accurate Defense Debuff, Accurate Heal, Taunt, Recharge Intensive Pets, and - oh yes - purples themselves?)

Add a few more sets into the Purple pool....and increase the drop rate a tad to compensate?

I'd just like for a few things to drop a bit more frequently, so feel free to ignore my post.

as long as they come up with some different bonuses, i say go for it.

Same purple set bonuses, different power options to slot. Not everyone can use Hecatomb, etc in their builds

Ideally, I'd like to see a purple option for every type.

This, I'd like to keep close to the set bonuses the other purples have, which doesn't vary much outside of I think the Range Damage Purple Set, and the 6th slot (which except for the Confuse set, I find a waste to slot for )

And a special one for warshades. What?

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Intangibility. That needs just ANY set.

I can't really say for certain... I would suspect (and why I asked the question) that the available supply of existing sets decreased, and as such their price in the markets went up. Given all the wailing over current purp prices, I think that would just aggravate things.

Though, I could be wrong there. It is possible that as folks swapped out existing sets for the new shiny they may have released back into the supply and driven prices down... hhmmm...

For clarity's sake, I could never figure out why the purples didn't include heal and the other basic types in the first place. So, on the whole I support the suggestion. But the fact remains, there may be a broader market impact beyond whether certain characters can spruce up their numbers the way they'd like.

Oh, and I would prefer a new mix of bonuses over keeping the same standard purp ones.

Ah, I had not considered a drop rate change... but I doubt one would occur.

I want everyone to have the same set bonus opportunity (10% global recharge for example) as everyone else. Just want more options for different power types is all.

Right, I understood what you meant.

I'm in the other camp. I'd rather have a broader mix of build designs rather than everyone chasing the same mystical goals.

My hopes for purple sets:

Resist/defense: whether through primary, secondary, pool, patron, or ancillary powers, all characters of almost all builds can access one of these in some way. Trick of the sets: most purples enhance acc/ primary effect/ end/ recharge. That's 4 effects. Resistance/defense sets at most would need three: protection/endurance/recharge. This means the sets could have a couple more 'effect' IO's mixed in.

Suggestions:

  • mez protection. Squishies get mez resistance all over, but nothing to stop mez. Obviously having melee class mez resists in an IO would be a no-no, but having enough to make squishies able to shrug off a single mez or a minion's stun would be handy. Also good for the melee people who try taking mez-happy foes' aggro late game, where mez is everywhere.
  • Specialty resistance: KB/repel/Psy/slow/-defense/TP/etc. resistance.
  • Psy defense: this would be defense against many mez powers for squishies, and a way to protect a bit from damage type that's pretty common, but many armor sets do not cover.

What would be interesting would be if rather than having 5 normal 'enhancement' IO's, with one 'effect' at the end, if the effects were spread out with the enhancement effects, so as to avoid the 'use just the effect' or use just the enhancement' thing that happens with others sets. (See the +recovery/+recharge/+KB resist/+defense IO's, or the sets where the enhancements go for multi-millions, but the 'chance for energy/smash/lethal/etc. things get little use.)

Healing:
Accuracy included, please. For the final 'effect' IO, an HP bonus similar to that which accolades provide would be cool, but not gamebreaking.

Endmod:
This can be used by some...I'm a bit ambivalent, as it could easily become a black sheep, but since powers like stamina are prevalent, and many patron/ancillary powers access them as well, it makes sense. Effect IO pie in the sky: global resistance to -recovery/-end attacks.

Fear:
Again, a black sheep, but since every archetype has some powerset that includes fear, I guess it makes sense. Effect IO request: or -tohit resistance.

Movement:
This would obviously be a small set, but a purple universal travel set seems doable. If it included a recharge IO, it would make sense- (speed and all) but would throw things off easily, as +recharge is everywhere anywise.

Sets I hope they do not use:
Taunt: few archetypes get to use this 'naturally,' two of them can use them in more than one power..and it's not widely used except for one of those. The effects are actually injurious to squishy classes. This could easily become a 'set mule,' or the dross of the purple sets.

Intangibility: These powers go down in utility with too much duration, outside select instances. They are also hard to find.

Stuff I could see, but am ambivalent about:
Knockback: Many characters have it available, but most powers that do this do it well enough as it is. Some would enjoy it, though.

-Defense/-tohit: for most of their occurrence in-game, these are not 'primary use' effects. (Most powers-number wise-that do them are attacks.) Making a full set of them would tempt people to detract from their ability to use their primary effect. They could be handy for frankenslotting, and if the effect IO were useful.

Slows:
These are rather specialized, and often a side effect, but I could see it.

Second!! Also knockback please.

I'd approve, I guess. I have a hard time getting enthusiastic about it considering I've gotten a grand total of two purples ever.

Right, I understand that.

This thread is NOT for that purpose. Feel free to start your own thread with that suggestion.

I agree with Thaumator, we need more purple sets. Every attack has some kind of IO, why cant we have purples for them too?

Me personally, I want:

Healing, that just needs to be in the, Defense, and Resist as other people want too.

@Dark Bladed - Infinity Server
I do.....just about everything, main is a DB/Regen Scrapper

OK...

I was offering input and point of view to your discussion. I in no way meant offense, or was attempting to be rude.

Apparently, I was unaware that only those in agreement 100% were allowed to participate in this open forum. I guess I'll just move along.

you started a thread about more purple recipes. there is absolutely no reason why people can't discuss what they would like to see with these new recipes. there is also no reason why they can't mix up the bonuses for the new recipes. this will add more flavor to them. it will also allow everyone to slot them if they already have purple sets without having to worry about the rule of 5. they can even keep the 10% recharge since most people can't afford the most wanted recipes.

i think you need to calm down and think about this a bit more before telling people not to post ideas that have to do with the subject in your thread.

Incorrect. That is the exact opposite of the intended purpose of my suggestion (as noted at least twice above).

If you would like to see changes to the set bonuses of purple recipes, again... feel free to post your own suggestion in your own thread regarding that.

Does anyone use the sleep ones? I got one yesterday, was very happy until I realized that it was one of the sleep-purples. Crafted it and sold it for $40mil, which is pretty bad for a purple, especially redside O.o

not everyone has a sleep power and if hey do they tend to use something more effective, alot of people dont seem to have the slot in power or slots to have a sleep power yet alone use it wisly...great for those who do have the power/slot as its much cheaper with great bonouses

Not a matter of "being in agreement 100%," but just keeping it focused somewhat instead of branching off into other things. Makes discussing good *or* bad points about it more of a chore.
