I want demons NOW!

Ah, but a good mastermind knows how to control their henchmen. Not just put them on aggressive/follow. When I see a team mate in trouble, my first act is to target whatever is hitting the team mate and order an attack. Or toss out some debuffage. Or hold whatever it is. Healing a team mate isn't always the best choice. Sometimes killing the mob is a better option. Sometimes it's the only option.

Any MM just sticking their pets on Aggressive/Follow and playing pure support is a sillyhead too A good MM is a balancing act spinning multiple plates at once (the clue is in the name).

I agree with you, just healing a fellow teamie isn't the only option (I gave examples using Doms and Brutes for that reason), my Necro/Dark will usually opt for some mez, debuff and pet attacks before running in to pop off a heal. If a zombie dies while I'm doing that, no worries, he'll be replaced shortly.

I shouldn't have used the H word should I? You'd think I'd know better from reading the Defender boards. My point is more that some MMs can have a tendency to be less team friendly in their playstyles, and a massive influx of them could be on it's way, at least for a week or two (then Natural Selection should kick in).

I'm gonna start a Fortuna I think for i17, damage, defenses, control and team buffs seems a good foil to them. I started a Plant/Emp who lacks Absorb Pain and Rez for the wave of DPers and it works really, really well. He's a team player but that doesn't mean he's a healer... Ack, the H word again.

My point was that while I mostly heal pets (saving them can be a full time job on a ninja/poison) I do actively support the team. I may not heal the team often, but I'm doing more then my fair share of crowd control, debuffing, and team mate saving.

I don't think you're one of the players I'd be worried about. For one you're posting reasonable points in the Mastermind forum, that probably exempts you from the type "one track mind" MMs I'm worried about

Indeed, it largely depends on your secondary.

Well, it’s the 20th so two thirds of the month is down. We should be in the home stretch now. I have just been playing my dual pistols casually to kill time but she is just crossing over into the 40s… I wonder how much of a head start my Demon Mastermind will get.

Oh well, they did say sometime in April but if I would have known it was going to be pushed so far into the tail end of the month I would have waited and just made a Praetorian Character. That’s probably the point. I’m the one who couldn’t wait to play my new mastermind; I only have my self to blame. Oh well, I have the test server and it is getting to the end of the month lol

Yeah I'm a little bit surprised that they are waiting this long to put the demons in the game. I hope that it will be soon, cause I'm hankering to get my MM up and running too. I started one on test, but I'm making sure I don't go too far with it. I made lvl 12 the limit just so i can see the second tier baddies.

Well, the very last weekend of April is here. It is now Friday and we still have no Demon Mastermind. Unless they are going to work on the weekend or release it in the middle of the day I guess we are not getting a weekend in April to play. At this point I’m thinking they meant they were going to be releasing it (exclusively) on the test servers in April lol

It should be soon, and I’ll still be checking every day myself, but still… I hope next weekend in May I’m in game and not here

Given the troubles they seem to be having with the set I'd prefer a proper working version of it is released a week into May rather than a buggy version next Tuesday.

I suspect they might try and throw a new test patch out later today and hope that works to elimenate the Sound and Particle problems the pets seem to be generating. Then they can push i17 out next Tuesday or Wednesday and still be within their "In April" timetable.

It's a pity Kinetic Combat and Elec Control aren't out at the same time really to help dilute the effect (plus I could start a KC/WP toon and not worry about the kinky whip-wielding DSers saving me on teams).
I'm a Bots/Traps. And I'll STILL kick your a$$ if you say I can't contribute to the team ¬¬

I'm surprised you all missed the thread in the announcements section. i17 goes live the 28th & if you recall the thread about getting GR early...demons was to be released with the live implemntation of i17.

So now we just count down the days....5....moare....dayzzzzz!

I don't want DS. The noobs are going to tarnish the reputation of MMs. I hate MM noobs.

Sadly, it happens. Fortunatly, the MM noobs will likely quit playing it rather fast. Might not even make it to 18. Unfortunately, they will damage the reputation of us skilled masterminds.

It doesn't help that half of what a skilled mastermind does isn't visible to the party. Pet controls are not flashy.

Do you consider yourself a n00b MM? If not then you escape my broad, sweeping statement

Heh.. the truth couldn't be spoken any louder. You're absolutely correct. There are those few times that someone does notice how well you control your pets and it.. happens on occasion that someone would compliment you. I made an MM during CoV beta and then created it again on day one of release when it came out retail and still have that same MM today. Zombie/Dark. Good combination of an MM I always thought.

I am looking forward to Demon Summoning. I like it, i like the way it looks, but I do hate the way it sounds. Do the demonds really need to be snarling so often and .. do I really really need to hear their footsteps?

The reputation of MMs can't get any blacker.

Sure it can. The team could start thinking we're actually HELPING longbow.

Well don't be silly, that would just be----er, excuse me, the phone is ringing.

"Hello? Oh hi Miss Liberty! How's it going?"

......

"I see, you want me to make absolutely sure Aurora Borealis gets the whole team. Ok no problem."

.......

Now, where was I? Oh yes. Masterminds working for Longbow. Utterly ridiculous idea. Simply preposterous. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some things to attend to......

Well, I don't consider myself a "noob" Mastermind, but I'm definitely a lazy Mastermind who doesn't micromanage the control of his pets (I will, however, spread around buffs and such to the team if I have them and the End to spare).

If they're creating a blockage I might tell them to move to a particular spot to get out of the way. Of course, half the time they don't listen and just stand there dumbly blocking the way until I dismiss and resummon them. Could be that's improved since last I played one.

I came to thoroughly dislike playing redside and haven't been there for awhile. I have a Fire/Rad Controller named Sympathetic Devil who I'm thinking of rerolling as a Blueside-bound Demon/something Mastermind when Going Rogue comes out.

Yep. The first few days in Mercy and Port Oakes are going to be epic in terms of Car Crash teams, until natural selection kicks in. The higher concentration of VEATs (that's what I'm playing) might help a little, although there'll probably be loads of them skipping their toggles and complaining about being too squishy.

Think I'll lead PuG teams rather than just being on them, at least then I can try and steer the careening car wreck instead of just being stuck in the back screaming.

They're still ALIVE! I thought I killed them plenty of times for them to stay down!
Now i think i know how they aren't dieing. Anyone up for destroying all Blueside hospitals?

You do realize it's only the 26th in the US, right? Tomorrow is just "Hey we get demons tomorrow!" day.
