Ouroboros: Real or Fake?

Just wondering: when I'm in a Flashback arc, is the zone I'm in the real thing or just a personal copy? Only just started today and both Flashbacks I've entered have been on Striga Island, not the most populous zones at the best of times, so it's kinda hard to tell. :P

It is the real zone, and you can interact with other players that are in that zone.

You can interact with them but they answer your questions before you ask them.

It's real and they are Spectacular!

You're in the real zone, but it's the zone in the past when you were that level...it's a wibbly wobbly timey wimey thing.

In fact, toons at lower than 25 can run Oro missions. I've had a 14 run one. Just stay out of the zone [obviously] and the leader gets the mish. Go to the mish door and meet them. It's just like a normal one for you, except when you finish the mish you'll be able to lay down an Oro portal that you can't use.

I don't think you can start flashbacks if everybody wasn't already in the same zone. That means you can't run it from Ouro. You'd have to gather everybody in an SG base (including the lowbie) and run it from the Ouro Pillar there.

Yep SG pillar and you won't get an oportal but you will get the badge for it so it will pop in your power list the moment you hit 25.

You will get the Oportal power at a lower level too. It's not even grey'd out. But when you use it, you just get an error message that does not allow you to enter it.

Tracked you down with this. This is my timey-wimey detector. It goes ding when there's stuff. Also, it can boil an egg at 30 paces, whether you want it to or not, actually, so I've learned to stay away from hens. It's not pretty when they blow.

Still trying to reach a consensus as to if it's a bad joke, or just coincidence.

It's even worse considering it's based off your trained level...

Done it. It works.

They used a portal, went to Oro, and set the mish. If we were just in the SG, I would be with them, I assume even for the zap to the contact.

The only thing you can do with the portal while under 25 is to drop them for others who request them, or just for decoration on top of buildings, etc.

I find this difficult to believe as I've tried to do that. I was prevented because all teammates were not in the same zone.

This is correct. If you try to start a flashback in Ouroboros while other members of the team are not in zone, you get an error message.

Actually, this is reversed. You get the power, but not the Entrusted with the Secret badge if you have completed a flashback before level 25.

This is entirely correct.

Yes. If you have someone that can get you into their base, you can earn the power as early as level 5. The team leader picks the level 5-10 badge mission (Break up the Clockwork and the Skulls, or Hurt the Traitorous Vendetti), you complete the mission, and then you will be granted the power. As far as the level, yeah, you can't get into the zone until level 25, and at that point you can get the Chrononaut badge to earn Entrusted with the Secret Badge and start flashbacks without help.

All the other posters are lying to you. It's all fake. The devs have created a convincing sub-world for each and every Flashback mission that reproduces what it would be like if you were actually DOING that mission circa 2002. That Striga Isle was just another instance.

The brilliance of the system is that they even coded intelligent AIs that would respond to you just like another player! So you don't have to feel bad if you accidentally grief another "player" in an Ouroboros mission, because they aren't real!*

*Totally making all this up.

Maybe I remember wrong. She's still only a 24 and does have the Oro portal. I don't think it was done off the SG base's as I wouldn't be clicking on the portal like mad before the caster finally went in.

Maybe I'm wrong.

You can get the portal before level 25 if you run any mission that involves time travel. Pretty sure the first midnighters arc will grant it which can be run from 20 I think. You could be one a team running that from Level 1 and get the portal I guess.

Blue-side the first Midnighter arc can be run from level 10 up, but it's not a time-travel arc and you don't get the portal power for it. Red-side I have no idea. I know that one starts further up and I haven't done any of them over there.

EDIT: Oh, duh. THE first one that can starts at 20, you said. Maybe I'll learn to read someday.

Dec out.

Flashbacks will give you the portal. My Fire/Rad has had hers since level 14 [or so] because she ran the Rescue the Fortuneteller in PP.

That much I know. What's in question is if I remember correctly about my panic about not being able to enter the Ouro portal or if the memory I'm starting to have now, maybe a false memory, of being in the base and using the Ororock there. Only problem is, I'm not sure the MLC base has a rock.

There are quite a number of different ways to get both "Entrusted with the Secret" badge, with it the Ouro Portal power. Perhaps one of those.

Heroes can complete (outside of flashback they have to be mission holder):
  • Agent G's story arc
  • Doc Delilah's story arc
Villains can complete (outside of flashback they have to be mission holder):
  • Marshal Brass' 2nd arc
In this case the villains actually can get the badge & power in the 15-19 range, as opposed to the heroes 20-24 range.

I know. That's why I have the thing.

I suggest you set up the scenario I mention. And try it from the SG and see if it works for you. MLC [marketing group on Freedom] members Flamin' Trolla [Hyperstrike] and Greased Lightning [Stutz] were with me.

Note: Spelling of names might be off.

Like I've said, I've tried that. I had a level 50 with the pillar in the base, I invited 2 people (one from same group, one from coalition) with level 5 characters. I picked the Negotiator badge mission (level 5-10). I could NOT start it until both the others were in the base (same zone).

My understanding of the way it works is it's a real zone, but it's the zone as it was when you were actually that level. So if you have a conversation with someone and then contact them again when you finish the arc they'd be like "Dude, that was a week ago!"

This is also why the devs don't allow us to do Oro to do arcs higher in level than us. If we could, we'd just ask people for lottery numbers.
