I don't want to copy Desdemona, so no Dark for me. I'm thinking pain or poison, but I am totally not sure yet. Earlier I was just certain I would do traps, but only if the demons blow up instantaneously.

Since the Whip is fire/toxic damage I have a feeling the Hellfire pets will do fire/toxic damage with thier attacks just a thought.

I was checking the vid and one of the demons seemed to be using Toxic attacks just like an earlier poster stated.

Whips also doing fire/toxic damage is nice, but the numbers might be lower than normal MM attacks to compensate for that. Since they also do -res its almost guaranteed they will do less than other MM attacks unless the dev's finally realized MM attacks are bad and this is the start of changing that.
Unless I am wrong on both accounts, I am thinking the attacks will still be highly skip-able from a power perspective. Since they look cool I expect lots of players will take them either way.

I wish we could actually *play* it. I have a sneaking suspicion that the only reason I17 isn't in OB right now is because of problems with Ultra-Mode. I'm starting to really wish they had just left UM for GR, probably a minority opinion though .
Likely it will be the same -res as sonic attacks, and have the same duration...so if you get them all going on an AV or tough Boss it might mean something, otherwise probably be a little lackluster.

The Rogue Islands is going to be awash with Demons mid April isn't it?
Maybe that's one drawback to this early release mechanism they're doing for GR, rather than teams being made up of say Demon MMs, Dual Pistol Corrupters, Elec Doms and wavy handy brutes in June/July we get massive gluts of each one released beforehand for a week or two and then they die down again.

I really can't imagine the segment of players that've been wanting a whip-based set, NOT making petless Demons summoning MMs, just like people did with thugs back in the day for the dual pistols, though they STILL might do that.

I can. Ranged attacks tend to hit for less then melee ones. With whip attacks, you gotta get right in the face of that 400 damage meleer. You sure they wont take pets so they can put them in bodyguard mode and have really good damage reduction?

Why can't the other MM primaries get worthy uniques? Even, Necro, which gets a semi-decent one, is actually a watered-down version of GW.
My point exactly. MMs already are a close-ranged/melee AT, so giving high-damaging melee attacks to demons seems unfair. And if that wasn't enough they deal fire/toxic damage and debuff res too. Oh, and they get their very own version of Gang War, which is so much worse than Serum, right?
