Just to be sure here ... is that an issue because you were going to slot the LotG early in your career? I ask only to make sure you know it doesn't matter when you take the power, but rather what level the LotG is. If you want the LotG while leveling up pre-40's, though, obviously that matters.

Doh I forgot about that part and this guy is 50 so not a big deal on that part anymore I need to check all my lotg levels it would only matter on my SK down. So I will need to make sure my lower #'s are in the later powers

Thanks for reminding on that part

Sure adjustments to builds need to be made so a lot of defensive builds may be sporting less recharge, less regen, less recovery, but it still leaves them plenty formidable. Just FYI, my fully IO'ed (purpled, PvP IO'ed) fire/shield will probably come out of this with about 5% less recharge, a little less regen, a little less hitpoints and a little less recovery. However she'll be gaining a bit more smash/lethal resistance to make up for it due to slotting of a couple of Aegis to make up lost AoE.

I've tweaked my BS/SD Scrapper so that she is once again softcapped for Melee/Ranged/AoE. The build suffers some reduced EPA from this change, but at least I have an excuse to put in Petrifying Gaze in for my beloved Shadow Knight.

Well, I got off lucky with my BS/SD scrapper; all I lost was 8% regeneration from swapping two Pounding Slugfest frankenslotted in an attack with another pair of Mako's Bite to finish off that set. Since I hadn't needed the additional defense before I had Hack slotted 4 Mako/2 Pounding Slugfest.

It really does a number on my Fire/EM blaster build though... fortunately I'm still in the process of acquiring IO's for him and hadn't gotten around to buying the BotZ yet. That one's going to take considerable thought to work out.

My FM/SD final build is one IO from completion, i just need the Glad armour unique.

Had a set of gladiator strike ready too go in, which can't now i need too slot Mako's and i'm gunna have 2 loose 2 slots from somewhere too get the AOE from Stamina.

Total pain in the ****, especially as i 100% need the glad armour now. Atleast before my build worked without it.

I am pretty hardcore about my builds; 5 LotG recharge, multiple BotZ, Miracle + PerfShift + Numina uniques... but I can't even imagine how I'd even begin to go about acquiring a Gladiator's. Do you grind PvP for them or do you really make that much Influence?

There are a small number of them that have been actually been selling on the market. A long time bid that I put in actually came through two days ago. I was going to promptly resell it, but sold it at very modest profit to a friend who wanted it. And when I mean modest, I mean I sold it at a price way below what I know could have gotten.

I've just been using the recipe as influence storage. Since the free transfers have been canceled I suspect you'll see a few more of these come through this way. Otherwise, it's sadly all about who you know. I know of one player on Virtue who may have two of these unslotted, but she'll demand a very high price to part with them.

Glad I've been staying away from the BotZ sets pretty much. Just annoys me a bit because I had just respecced one of my scrappers and got around 45.5% Def to all positions so this screws the build a little. Not much, but enough that I'll need to tweak his build.

ok so who has an elec/shield, fire/shield, and dm/shield scrapper builds SC without some botz? without using pvp ios or botz, i was able to get my elec/shield build to 45, 46, and 37 in melee, ranged, and aoe defense respectively

Posted

Tweaked Battle-Hardened, my Inv/MA Scrapper to remove any BotZ she had in her build and got close enough to my original numbers.

42.2% F/C/E/N with one enemy in Melee range. 34.5% Ranged Defense and 23.3% AoE Defense.

The build before is only a percentage point or so difference from said numbers.

Well I tried on an elec/shield/blaze, not too happy with the recharge, but got the defs to 47/46/44 (although I'd personally just put a Posi Blast set in Fireball for +rech and +recov and leave AoE at 42%):

Isn't this just slightly hyperbolic? I suppose this is the first real nerf to a player ability we've seen in a long time, but all thing's considered its incredibly minor compared to past nerfs.

Generally speaking it doesn't make me happy but I can understand why they'd do it. I doubt BotZ prices will drop that much though -- you're still getting ranged and AoE defense and KB protection from three slots in a travel power. It's not like you can easily replace that with something better, especially if you need KB protection anyway.

I'm not sure If I'll even worry about it much on my scrappers, since it won't change my melee defense at all. It's nice to be softcapped at all positions, but it depends on how much trouble I have to go to to softcap ranged/AoE. It may or may not be worth the effort.

I feel the same way. If it is too much trouble and I lose to much, I will just keep the builds I have. Having Softcapped def to melee and 42ish% to Range and AoE will do for me.

Not slightly, completely hyperbolic. I'm pretty annoyed by this change, not because of the quantity of the nerf but because of the annoyance over the work involved in adjusting to it. Castle's acknowledged this and is inquiring to a work around (no promises made). Once adjustments are made, this will have a minor impact on the game over all. Actually, to call the impact minor may be inflating things a bit.

Ditto. I don't bid on L53 stuff that doesn't exist. I bid on recipes I would love to have for the price I'm offering. Well, technically, I'm only bidding on a single Gladiator 3%, because I'm "influence poor" at the moment, at least compared to before purpling out my last build.

Yeah, it's mostly been buffs for a long time. Apparently, the devs think it's time to reign it in a little. Thing is, it kinda doesn't matter how minor it is. Alexei is affected by the Miracle and Zephyr changes, and his build is very finely balanced. It's going to be ugly trying to get that balance back at an admittedly only slightly-lower peak of power. I'm not going to bother working on a build till this is all out, Mids' is updated, and so on. But it's going to take time and effort to figure out what I want, and then I'm expecting one of those annoying multiple-respec respecs. It's just annoying. I won't be gimp. I'm just frickin' annoyed at needing to deal with it. And frankly, that goes for buffs almost as much as nerfs. Who moved my cheese?

I agree, even though I think the nerf is justified. It's still annoying to stall out my alts while I revisit all my high level "finished" builds that use it. The most annoying thing is that they are sitting on freespecs, so I have to deal with it before this goes live or I'll lose a freespec.

This is the biggest part for me. Any new builds I level up and try to softcap to range or something like that? It won't bother me a bit doing it with the new set values. However for the half dozen or so builds that are "Finished" that include the sets, I have little to no desire to go back and re-IO them if need be to get the performance I want. After putting in the time and effort to grind them out and actually get to play them at the level I want, I don't look forward to going back and trying to do it again with the same build.

EDIT: A note: I'm amused at all the people in other threads who think we are nuts because we're complaining about losing two percent of defense. Two percent doesn't seem like a lot, but let's pretend someone uses only one set of Zephyrs, 2-slotted, for the ranged defense bonus, and is just barely at the softcap of 45%. Suddenly, they're at 43%. Not a big deal, right? Wrong.

At 45% ranged defense, you're getting hit by 5% of the ranged attacks thrown at you. At 43%, you're getting hit by 7%. That's forty percent more incoming damage that you now have to deal with - yet another example of how very, very valuable defense is the closer and closer you get to the softcap.

Fire/Shield, softcapped to all 3 positions
, and all it took was replacing two Crushing Impacts in GFS with the last two pieces of the Mako set (so basically losing a bit of enhancement value but the same defense numbers as before the change). If the build doesn't import into your version of Mids, it's because I manually went into the database and changed the set bonus values for the Zephyr set to account for the upcoming changes. Obviously this build could be tweaked a bit (perhaps more recharge in Shield Charge, which could be obtained by dropping the interrupt enhancement from Aid Self) but it's a solid build overall.

The "subheadings" in CA can sometimes be wrong (they don't take things such as resistance into consideration), but I don't think I've ever seen the totals being wrong.

("subheadings" would for instance be "Impervium Armor: 3%" when you have "Psionic Resistance: 12%
Impervium Armor: 3%
Other Psi Res Power: 9%")

The reason we're not getting increased Psi Resistance from the Impervium Armor: +Psi Resistance IO is that this IO actually doesn't work as a proc, it works as a set bonus. This means that it grants us a power, and since that power isn't slotted with any Resistance (even if the power holding the IA is), the bonus doesn't have anything to be increased by (the set bonus also isn't affected by outside buffs).

I'd guess that the reason that the IO still made Castle's list is that at a quick glance there seems to be a "legacy" part of the IA: +Psi IO that would seem to indicate "proc origins" that were later changed to no longer give any Psi Res, and that it's this legacy part that's showing up in Castle's search.
