What I remember from the comic was how every heroine in the comic had the hots for Manticore...
Wonder how THAT happened.

I don't know if I just imagined it or read it, but I keep thinking that originally Maria Jenkins was actually going to be the former Maiden Justice aka Statesman's wife.
(Doing Unai's arc right now and have to admit that it's rather strange to think that someone named "Madame Danger" would be so inspirational that she could cause a pure eternal flame to arise as part of a magic spell.) It would make sense that the person who'd be most concerned about his disappearance would be his wife. If that's the case, I don't know why they decided to change it. |
that person was troy hickman, the only version of statesman that i accept from the comics.

Thanks. In my issues, though, I was leaning more toward Synapse and Sister Psyche.

I remember this too. If we aren't just plain wrong, I think it was retconned after Web of Arachnos came out and claimed Monica Richter was Maiden Justice. Personally, I doubt the Richters had even been created by the time Issue 1 was being developed, as even as late as Issue 3, Arachnos was being referred to as S.P.I.D.E.R., and I swear we knew about Maiden Justice back in Issue 1.

I'm pretty sure they're not going to make the Atlas Park trainer go rogue
She'd be a good fit. The Vindicators should be the gritty, hard nosed, violent strikeforce the Primals need. But she'd probably have to ditch Excalibur, because it's a weapon of virtue, thus can't be used for evil.
But not too worry, Azuria has plenty of stuff in the M.A.G.I. vault, and that thing NEVER stays locked.

Her attitude in the comic wasn't the best in the world. Again, she needs a flogging. |

Question: Whats up with Ms. Liberty? Answer: There have been many questions about Ms. Libertys methods and practices. In general she strongly believes in fighting fire with fire (quite literally in the case of the controversial flamethrowers). When villains, even thugs, gain access to super-powers she believes that the methods used to fight them require some amping up. As far as shes concerned, her people are not breaking the Geneva Convention. Of course anyone in power is subject to question, as it should be. There are definitely politicians and law enforcement officials, even other heroes, who question if she has gone over the edge. Some say she is more like her grandfather than she would ever like to admit in terms of her absolute belief that she is doing the right thing. The same headstrong approach that causes her to accept anyone in need of a second chance into the Vindicators, even former criminals, sometimes drives her to overly aggressive response to villainous activity. Her teammate Swan seems to be the only one who can make any headway with Ms. Liberty on these topics and even she is concerned that her friend may be headed down a dark path that will require intervention. |
SPOILERS (for those newbies who've yet to realize...)
I've wondered about that. Will they be advancing the storyline beyond the LGTF, suggesting some healing and a return of the weapon to its original owner? Or will the LGTF forever stagnate the character? |
That would make for some pretty epic angst for Statesman, if she started hanging out with Great Uncle-in-Law Stefan
Then there's the whole Maria Jenkins thing... read her bio some time. Makes you wonder just what their relationship was like...

Question: Can we have more details about Maria Jenkins aka Madame Danger and her connection to Statesman? Answer: Madame Danger was not Statesmans sidekick but she was his closest friend for many years in part *because* she was in no way involved with the Freedom Phalanx and for the most part stayed out of the public eye. Since she was not involved in Statesmans day to day adventures and misadventures she was able to provide a different perspective. She and Statesman worked several cases together when their investigations crossed paths. Although he always considered her an equal partner in these matters, Statesman often got the lions share of the acclaim at her request. Remaining relatively obscure was the primary reason Maria was able to retire Madame Danger so easily. Statesman always respected her desire for privacy and as a side effect it afforded him a place to talk things over with someone he trusted out of the spotlight. |
Manticore's answer kind of makes it impossible for her to have the role that she does in Unai's arc. How can someone that almost no one heard of generate the kind of public trust and faith necessary to light that eternal flame?
|
hmm.....
Azuria A pure flame. Yes. A clever plan. I myself cannot construct a pure flame; for that you'll need a champion of the people, someone whose inner light is fueled by the love of thousands. Take this candle to Maria Jenkins. In addition to being one of the sweetest women I know, she's earned the respect and love of this city many times over. I believe she'll be able to summon the pure flame. |
