Her attitude in the comic wasn't the best in the world. Again, she needs a flogging.

What I remember from the comic was how every heroine in the comic had the hots for Manticore...

Wonder how THAT happened.

(Doing Unai's arc right now and have to admit that it's rather strange to think that someone named "Madame Danger" would be so inspirational that she could cause a pure eternal flame to arise as part of a magic spell.)

It would make sense that the person who'd be most concerned about his disappearance would be his wife.

If that's the case, I don't know why they decided to change it.
I remember this too. If we aren't just plain wrong, I think it was retconned after Web of Arachnos came out and claimed Monica Richter was Maiden Justice. Personally, I doubt the Richters had even been created by the time Issue 1 was being developed, as even as late as Issue 3, Arachnos was being referred to as S.P.I.D.E.R., and I swear we knew about Maiden Justice back in Issue 1.

I thought it was fine - she's very dedicated to her job, and doesn't mind showing it.

Thanks. In my issues, though, I was leaning more toward Synapse and Sister Psyche. It just seemed right to me for some reason.

I think I had just downed a bottle of cough syrup at the time...

Troy Hickman - So proud to have contributed to and played in this wonderful CoH universe

"Leaning" or "leering"?

Yeah. I want to say that I thought that Maria's super hero name was originally something else ... something closer to Maiden Justice even if that's not what it was.

And I do think that the Richter background was something that was still being developed by the time the second COH comic series came out. The origin for Recluse and Statesman was different compared to both the novel version and the in-game one.

More like the entire female contigent of the Vindicators were his fangirls. Ugh.

Which is why I found it hilarious that in THE FREEDOM PHALANX, Manticore was an arrogant unlikable d***, almost the exact opposite of his persona in the comics.

I see the possibility for some good mentoring between States and Des, especially once she meets Primal Earth's Infernal and realizes that there IS another way to live.

And re: Ms Liberty... I am really starting to think that she's gonna be the first one on the Vigilante Superhighway when that road opens.

She'd be a good fit. The Vindicators should be the gritty, hard nosed, violent strikeforce the Primals need. But she'd probably have to ditch Excalibur, because it's a weapon of virtue, thus can't be used for evil.

But not too worry, Azuria has plenty of stuff in the M.A.G.I. vault, and that thing NEVER stays locked.

I think Malaise, Infernal and maybe Valkyrie are the only ones who'd fit that discription

And Ms. Liberty ain't passionate, she's like a spoiled brat born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and acts all bitchy because of who her Mom & Grandpa are. She needs to be taken over someone's knee and put in her place....or tied up and flogged. Either way
Sounds like a job for her evil twin.

SPOILERS (for those newbies who've yet to realize...)

I've wondered about that. Will they be advancing the storyline beyond the LGTF, suggesting some healing and a return of the weapon to its original owner? Or will the LGTF forever stagnate the character?

Except that Manticore has already stated:

Quote:
Question: What’s up with Ms. Liberty?
Answer: There have been many questions about Ms. Liberty’s methods and practices. In general she strongly believes in fighting fire with fire (quite literally in the case of the controversial flamethrowers). When villains, even thugs, gain access to super-powers she believes that the methods used to fight them require some amping up. As far as she’s concerned, her people are not breaking the Geneva Convention. Of course anyone in power is subject to question, as it should be. There are definitely politicians and law enforcement officials, even other heroes, who question if she has gone over the edge. Some say she is more like her grandfather than she would ever like to admit in terms of her absolute belief that she is doing the right thing. The same headstrong approach that causes her to accept anyone in need of a second chance into the Vindicators, even former criminals, sometimes drives her to overly aggressive response to villainous activity. Her teammate Swan seems to be the only one who can make any headway with Ms. Liberty on these topics and even she is concerned that her friend may be headed down a dark path that will require intervention.
I don't know... and besides, Malaise used to be the trainer in IP (I think) after HE was reformed, and Infernal does the same in FF, and hell, look at Blue Steel!

Sadly enough, I think that some things are NEVER going to see a resolution ...

The Penelope Yin/Clockwork King plot will go nowhere. The character you're talking about will never be changed back ...

Terra will never see a cure ...

I'm guessing that the things I'd like to see get further development will never actually get it.

Not if you give them the Rob Liefeld treatment.

From Manticore's lore Q&A:
Quote:
Question: Can we have more details about Maria Jenkins aka Madame Danger and her connection to Statesman?
Answer: Madame Danger was not Statesman’s sidekick but she was his closest friend for many years in part *because* she was in no way involved with the Freedom Phalanx and for the most part stayed out of the public eye. Since she was not involved in Statesman’s day to day adventures…and misadventures…she was able to provide a different perspective.

She and Statesman worked several cases together when their investigations crossed paths. Although he always considered her an equal partner in these matters, Statesman often got the lion’s share of the acclaim at her request. Remaining relatively obscure was the primary reason Maria was able to retire Madame Danger so easily. Statesman always respected her desire for privacy and as a side effect it afforded him a place to talk things over with someone he trusted out of the spotlight.

From what I've heard of that particular rumor she was meant to be Maiden Justice but never Statesman's wife and the retcon had a hand in creating the disturbing nature of the Tyrant/Dominatrix relationship.

Manticore's answer kind of makes it impossible for her to have the role that she does in Unai's arc. How can someone that almost no one heard of generate the kind of public trust and faith necessary to light that eternal flame?

Because we're not supposed to know about her heroic past. She kept her identity a secret... Until we meet her and she's giving us missions...

Besides, she's surprised as well when she generates the flame.

Of course, you're talking about one of the worst arcs in the end-game (To Save A Thousand Worlds? Man! I'm gonna be here a long time! *click-click-click-click-clickety-click-click-click* *sigh* *click-click-click-click-clcik-clicklicklicklicklicklicklicklicklicklicklicklick. ..* Man! A pure flame. Yes. A clever plan. I myself cannot construct a pure flame; for that you'll need a champion of the people, someone whose inner light is fueled by the love of thousands. Take this candle to Maria Jenkins. In addition to being one of the sweetest women I know, she's earned the respect and love of this city many times over. I believe she'll be able to summon the pure flame.
I guess it's a comic thing.
