So what is a lot of money these days?
Playing the market really helps you rake in the cash, that's pretty much the sole reason that the average's player wallet has gone up.
Combine that with the fact that people have been playing the game a long time now too and didn't really have anything to spend it on until Inventions.
...bout tree fiddy.
100 million is quite easy to obtain.
Admittedly I got pretty dang lucky and rolled two miracle +recov uniques, first one sold for 100 million inf, the second one I got today sold for 135 million inf.
A single purple drop can cause a characters funds to skyrocket.
Most of the time I just plain don't bother with the uniques, for what benefit they offer the sale price means I can outfit a character in set IOs (that initially 100 million inf will make my traps/DP range defense softcapped).
ONE BILLION INF
if u dun hav 2 billion on atleast 1 char u doin it rong
In this game, money rains from the sky and recipes grow on trees. I'd be more interested in entering a contest whose judges' opinion I respected and whose taste I agreed with.
I've never made more than 50 mill, so anything higher than that impresses me.
I earn about 4-5 billion inf per month in the market, and PVP sets cost easilly 2 to 4 billion depending on what you want to slot, so... I'd say 10 billion is "a lot of money".

Thanks to @EnsonsDeath for the GVE code that made me VIP again!
I think 1B is what I would consider a lot. It's a nice easy compact number that holds a ton of value. 100mil is really far too easy for somebody with decent market skills. I would say that could be done by level 35 if the character was made now and that's being kind. Once you get the first 100M, 1B really isn't that far away.
[some of you might see this as pointless but i am honestly shocked at how "poor" my alts feel and i have a few hundred mill on some of them!]

If we're talking a CC, a small one at 1 mill for lowbies is great. Anyone turning up their noses at that doesn't have to enter. CC's mostly for fun, anyway.
Personally, few of my alts have over 100 million, and that's usually from a lucky drop somewhere. 30-40 is where I'm comfortable.
100 million is middling rich.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
Outside of the few characters I have who sold a lucky 50 million drop, I generally don't have more than about 50-80 million on any one of them, so 100 million is filthy rich to me.
2 billion, on the other hand, doesn't interest me.

I asked for a little Influence help from a friend because I only had 40k of the bloody stuff at level 23 (no idea how). He dropped one-hundred million on me, and said it was nothing.
wtf.

At Kings row, or Port Oakes, or somewhere with a contact to sell to close by (can also use a base autodoc) buy the junk recipes. If you in a hurry buy from level 30+ things like sleep sets, stuns, knock back etc. Bid stacks of 10 for 111 inf. The generic IO recipes get a better price but often less supply. But the level 30-50 DO/SOs and fill tray at same time.
You can filter for whats on sale now.
I normally aim to kill every mob between me and the vendor at Oakes too.
30 minutes of this will get you a good amount of inf.

2 million every 3 levels from level 27 (?) would add up, or do you update more often?
But though mostly just teasing, theres an old adage that rich people can save more money than poor people by buying better to start with.
I understand you find it irrating to buy IOs.

But even so, it's nowhere near the 20-40 million I have to spend for a full set of inventions several times over.

Sure, just understand that it doesnt take a lot of time with pratice.
You describe it like it must be time consuming process when it isn't. Really. Its not anywhere near as labourious as you make it sound.
Basically the line about 'playing the game' ignores that inventions are part of the game.
I assumed you werent going for ++, thats why I said 2 million every 3 levels, they run out every 3 dont they? as you can tell I dont use them and just thought they did run out every 3.
As I found out when on test and having to SO my character, that took me a long long time. I would of done it much much quicker via IOs.
You are way off with prices for IOs, no doubt as you are not used to them. I rarely pay mre than 100k for any generic IO unless I want it right now and not overnight. Butthats offline time, not game time which I use playing the game

100 billion influence would impress me quite a lot. Been working to reach that for some time now

I typically let them go down into the yellow before I upgrade because I enjoy seeing the improved performance. There's nothing quite as disheartening as spending millions for enhancements, only to see them make a power recharge 2 seconds faster or deal 5 damage more. That's kind of why I stopped trying to get level 45 Inventions. The cost was huge and the benefit minuscule. Even 40-50 isn't really meaningful.

The train of thought as I've seen it goes "Well, you don't NEED it right now, so you can wait." Well, I can't. I don't want the responsibility of updating enhancements monkey hanging on my back for days and days and days. I want it over with NOW so I can stop worrying about it and just kill stuff. I avoid markets and economies as much as I can.

Throw your mind back say 4 years ago, a competition shout out with a prize of say 1 million would be met with gasps. These days a million influence would get nothing but laughs.
To start getting any sort of attention you really have to start at 100million and thats pretty darn hard for a new player!
This hit me earlier as i was levelling my scrapper and realised just how "poor" that alt was [had only 6 million on it] and could only afford a single IO at my level that i wanted. When i first started the game, when i reached 100k i thought i was rich . . . .
So these days, what amount of influence would make you turn your head and go woah nice! Im going to enter that competition!
1 million is literally nothing anymore [yet still hard to get for new players who dont know much about the game]
10 million still seems a bit "meh"
100 million? Seems the minimum requirement these days.
Looking at the player events section last few months i see nonstop competitions with prizes of 1 billion PLUS and has it really come to that stage of inflation that you need to make insane amount of money just to get peoples attention?
