Claws - Still Useless?
You know, I get that same useless feeling when I team using Assualt Rifle.
It's that feeling that everyone is moeing stuff down and you are just there puttering along.
My word of advice, think about why you chose the powers, then why you think they are fun, then ask yourself, would it be worth giving up for the 'flashier' side of the fense.
Then after you've made the new character, you will go back to the claws and they will welcome you with open arms. Now you will know, the other side of the fense isn't much better. It's just diffrent. You then happly make up and everything is right as rain again.
Course I could have slightly lost my hold of sanity on the last bit of that but I'm sure the message is in there.
Postagulous,
I think the OP was sincere in his original question. It seems that when folks explained the set a bit more and likely scenarios, he acknowledged their points and thanked them. |
I would know. I've come close to being banned for doing it.
Be well, people of CoH.

I might be the only one in this thread who feels this way but I BARELY if every use Eviscerate. When I removed Eviscerate from my chain my numbers seemed to go up significantly. I still use it though if I run into a problem like Ritki hacking and meh fayse. Still though Focus makes me happy inside...I think it's almost my number 1 favorite Scrapper/Stalker move in this entire game.

Negate:
I pretty much only use eviscerate these days when I will hit 2 or more with it. Given the longer range on melee cones, thats actually pretty easy to arrange.
Single hard target ? don't use it.

And i think the perception of Claws under performing came from the time before real numbers, and when we finally got them, and people crunched the numbers, Claws was found to be pretty competitive. Alot of it seems to have been perception. (small damage numbers etc)

Swipe's animation change.
Eviscerate's cone depth made deeper as Catwhoorg just mentioned.
The removal of baked in redraw was HUGE. So huge that Castle felt it necessary to add a damage tweak based on cast times.
Negate, I don't even have eviscerate in my main's build. My new claws/wp brute will be taking it, though.

Ah, ok! Well...Yeah, I meant to say I also use it when I can line the baddies up. Dark Melee taught me that cones can be a beautiful thing.

But alas.

But I like Eviscerate, anyway, so I didn't mind. Still, wish we could put that proc in there.
TS, there's a PvP dam-res debuff proc that you can put in Eviscerate. Not remembering the name at the moment.

And, dang, this happened last time someone was Obviously trying to hassle folks and then just suddenly turned and said, "Oh, you are right."
How can you have two lvl 50 claw/ and not know they rock?
Last thing I'm saying. I'll go embarrass myself elsewhere.
i think that is a very likely explanation for the impression of Claws having low damage.
Of course the easiest (but not best) way to correct this impression is to survive and keep fighting when the rest of the team wipes from a debuff toggled enemy bringing extra spawns in. If your secondary can handle it Claws achieves very impressive solo kill rates when surrounded by enemies. It happened a couple times on my Claws/SR several months after the Claws and SR revamp and made several teammates reconsider their image of Claws' damage output. |
Or do what I did and turn right when the team turns left during a Moonfire TF, and become known as the crazy tiger lady who cleared half the map.

Maybe the OP is fighting heavily lethal-resistant enemies or something...?
