Oh, for the love of Pete! I didn't even notice that because of the timezone weirdness.
OCR, please get someone who can write times and dates correctly and doublecheck others' work.

Well, why do something like that just before the release of a major expansion? And if GR succeeds financially, why do it after? On the other hand, if it tanks... Then we'd be very lucky if all that happens would be server mergers.

Yeah, it will cause all the whinebabies to come out of the woodwork, but honestly, it'll be very good for the game. The money they waste hosting 9 dead servers could be used instead on making the game itself better.
And if you think about it the only people that would be upset are those on the underpopulated servers that are getting the axe. No one else would care.
Wow, apparently 130 people are upset about my comment. I had no idea the entire populations of Justice, Liberty, Pinnacle, Victory, Guardian, Triumph, Champion, Infinity, and Protector would take time out of their day to adjust my rep.
Now if all of you were actually playing instead of dissing me maybe there wouldn't be any talk of merging servers.

All I know is that between this and everything else, one of the boards I go to has a fair number of folks who left looking at i17 as a "coming home" issue, plus there's more interest from potential new players. Especially in light of what some of the competition has been doing (that turned off a fair number of my friends who were otherwise happy in "that other game").

Anyways, even if it did come to a server merge (which I somehow doubt, since they've kept the servers as-is as long as I've been playing), I'm sure they'd make sure the cries of doom were kept to a dull roar through various nefarious dev-tricks. (Like migrating existing SGs and so forth, for one.) But I highly doubt such a thing will come to pass... even on my "underdeveloped" server of Champion, we're still pretty busy, more often than not.
As for the ACTUAL post here: I personally like this service... it gave me a chance to repatriate a number of characters I'd moved over to Victory during my brief sojourn there, and this time *without* paying $10 a pop. Which is why I'd abandoned them there for the time being... but I'm definitely glad they're home (and effectively playable again... I don't care for worrying about more than one server).

Ok... the server transfers are getting ridiculous...
So many malicious immigrants from other servers are on my server now. Virtue used to be a place of roleplay and fun and now its little more than a haven for griefers and other unsavory people who really deserve the ban-hammer. There aren't any places left to get away from it either, and naturally, the GM's do jack-**** about it.
These aren't new players either, they're long-time veterans moving on to bigger servers for the single purpose of being a nuissance and ruining the gameplay for others. And the fact that transfers are free right now has created a HUGE influx of these types of people. Its disgusting...
I'm not one to rant, but honestly, I'm at the point where I'm considering cancelling CoX because it has lost the quality control and customer service it once had who dealt with griefers harshly and quickly.
They worked out great, used 2 to sell a panacea proc to someone on pinacle direct which in turn saved me the 200 mil WW fee...
Used another 2 to exchange 2 toon's AT's and free name changes to boot.
It's better to save the Mystery, than surrender to the secret...

I hear Champions Online has a very low immigrant population. Maybe you could go there?

They should still be free. It's silly to charge $10 to transfer one bit of data from one server to another.
