I play a scrapper because...
"Comparatively no responsibilities"
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
My responsibility is to kill, not save lives lol
Because waiting sucks.
1. Waiting to find a team sucks. 2. Waiting for the team to assemble sucks. 3. Waiting for the tank to attack first sucks. 4. Waiting for the tank to gather aggro sucks. 5. Waiting for mez/sleep/hold to wear off sucks. Waiting sucks. I wanna attack now! Scrapper can do. |

There are other advantages to teammates... They save you the touble of selecting missions, and sometimes they'll even teleport you to a mission. And this one time... while I was killing a huge group of badguys, the tank started going around grabbing more badguys from nearby spawns to bring back for me to kill. I thought that was pretty cool.
I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.
I don't play a lot of scrappers but my current play time is dominated by one (DM/SD). I like it because I can turn my brain off. No, the scrapper's not as capable as many other ATs I have for high end encounters but I do dig the simplicity of playing one. Button mash 1> button mash 2, button mash 3, tab, follow, repeat.
I suppose with a 5B spend this scrapper can approximate the performance of some of my basic IO MMs. We'll see.

They're scrappy!

BEcause out of all the ATs, Scrappers are the only ones that feel comic book worthy, without massive IO investment!

The best teams are the ones that can keep up with me.
my lil RWZ Challenge vid
I run almost all the ATs and enjoy each for different reasons.
I’ll tell you why I like scrapping, though. It’s been said here. This weekend, I got an itch for Rikti, so I took my Fire/En blaster in on a small team to burn em up. After about 10 minutes or being mezzed and getting the occasional Blaze or Fireball off – coupled with team wipes because the tank was…challenged, I said to heck with it.
Loaded my Claws/WP scrapper and tore into the mobs. After a few mobs went down, my nine year old helpfully informed me that Rise to the Challenge was not toggled. Oopsie. Click. Now the Rikti really get a dose.
That’s why.
Well, that's another reason. If you're playing a blaster, and the tanker or defender is "challenged", you'll definitely notice. On a scrapper, not so much.

To be fully honest, I play a scrapper now because I got f*ing tired of getting kicked around and being afraid of some Carnies and their big mallets.
I play a scrapper because i want to see the foe fail to stop me before my blade cuts them in twain.
I play a scrapper because I wanted to see what it was like at +4 and +8.
I play a scrapper to Win. Quickly. Decisively.

What's this "team" thing you speak of?
Be well, people of CoH.
