Going Rogue and inf
I kind of expected this, but what would stop a level 50 PVP/Purple toon from transferring to the other side, respecing, and making a *ton* of profit from the other market?
Make a man a fire and keep him warm for the day, SET a man on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life.
Incarnates: K'lir(Fire/Dark Corr):Hot-House Flower(Plant/Fire Dom):Kinrad X(Kin/Rad Def):Itsy-Bitsy Spider(Crab):Two Ton Tony(Mace/WP Broot):Teeny Weeny Widow(Fortunata/Widow) : Zeroth Law (Ice/Fire Tank)
i don't know anyone who would switch sides with a totaly min/max toon and respec it for nothing.
No but depending on the difficulty of switching it could be a valid business strategy. That being said considering that the devs still refuse to merge the makrets I'm not to surprised about stopping you from taking your inf with you. After all if merging the market would hurt villain imagine what having heros with a few billion inf transfer over would do [/sarcasm].
I wouldnt worry too much about not taking or taking inf with you. Inf literally falls from the skys on most of my level 50s. If I have a purpled out build I want to cross over I would just make more inf. Otherwise email yourself whatever you need....
But really....
Merge the markets already
According to this interview with war witch, it looks like we won't be taking our inf with us when we change sides. It's not completely spelled out, but seems pretty clear.

No, inf figuratively falls from the sky for your level 50s.

My head literally exploded when I read what you wrote.

As noted above, anyone who wants to take a chunk of inf with them will turn it into valuable recipes and/or enhancements, hop the fence and then re-sell in their new home.
It isn't a real limitation, more of an annoyance.

Or, y'know, I could do a lot of business at "10 gets you 9" rates.

If you were, for instance, exemped and you shot a Wing Raider with a DOT attack, followed by a web grenade, so they die upon landing: would that inf have literally fallen from the sky?

If I really want to do this (and I actually really don't want to fully switch sides with anything) I'll just give the inf/goods I don't want to loose to another character.
Really, though, this is stupid. Whether they want it to be or not, influence and infamy have always been currency. They need to get over this RP crap that it's your "cred". And I'm not saying RP is crap, I'm saying this particular contrivance is crap that's anchored in RP concepts.
Edit: Of course I'm making a worst-case assumption with the above. Carefully re-reading the article, they might not mean loss of inf. I'm setting my bar at "cynical" on this one though, and betting that's what it means.

they should merge the markets.
... or at least let us have a way to exchange one for the other. I mean, heck, if you decided to leave the US and head for another country you don't just "lose" your wealth - you convert it.
I know, I know - comparing RL to RP. :P

It is a good idea. If they have a conversion rate, be a nice way to destroy a bit of the infl/infamy in the game.
Where possible you'd want to invest in IOs that have greater value on the side you're switching to. I wonder if there will be enough of that going on to stabilize prices between sides on certain IOs. My guess is no, but it will be interesting to see.
Offhand I don't know what would be best to use. Blue->Red maybe pet IOs. Red->Blue I don't know what has greater value on blue side than red.
I seem to remember getting a few pet IOs redside and finding them startlingly low in price.
Ah well, whatevah.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
Well. If you can't take inf with you, that would explain why they are now considering allowing us to email inf to our other alts.
.
I really don't think they are going to let us take anything to the other side. They may have a new system that would create an alternate build that starts at level 1. What our current character has may be locked in so that it will be there if/when we return, but will not be accessible on the other side.

They have talked about letting inspirations be traded between factions. Those can be worth 100k each. I wonder if it would be feasible to buy a bunch of big break frees or something with a hero, hand them (or possibly email them) to a villain, and then sell them.

If I want to start over at level 1, or with no "gear", I'll roll a new character.

Edit: Can't seem to find it now. Maybe I dreamt the whole thing, but I could have sworn I've heard it somewhere legitimate.

They did say that according to info communicated by attendees. However, I have also heard that they backtracked on it. I have only heard that once, recently, and it was the first I heard of it. I found the notion depressing.
