Issue 17 Overview!

Are mission starts or even AE in your base that good of an idea, though? People have enough issues with the whole instanced thing as it is. "CoX is dead, I don't see many/anyone on the streets!" I don't really have an issue with it, but I don't mind having the AE buildings be focal points. You can already edit and all that out of them (I was doing okay with the accolade a few weeks ago, what happened to it?), so I don't see how doing more in a base is going to be a good thing for teams.

Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc:
Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory

To my understanding, you've never been able to use your AE Accolade power inside the base. It works fine pretty much everywhere else, I think even in PvP zones.

You don't have to go through this alone, Bill. I'm here for you, if you want to talk.

.........and back on track:

From here:

Quote:
Emails can be sent to local as well as global names now.

Emails with attachments can only be sent to a Global name.

Valid attachments are Enhancements, Salvage, Recipes and Inspirations if they are tradeable (buyable on AH). One per email. Inf can be sent alongside item.

There will be 20 mail cap to inbox. Mails sent to full mailbox will bounce (bounced mails can exceed cap). If you are at the cap you cannot send mails.

Items with attachments cannot be deleted until attachment is claimed. They can be returned to sender.
Figured they'd put a cap in Was hoping it'd be higher. Really wanna play with it! (take that however you want)

Agreed. I've got a bunch of old emails from the farming days I'd like to save, but since you cannot currently highlight and copy an email, only way I'd be able to save those is by alt+tabbing and hand transcribing everything over. Goodie.

Also, it'll probably be slightly annoying having to turn the e-mail system back on (if you turned it off to get rid of the spam) just to gain access to this new system, then switch the access off to avoid the spammers.

I'm gonna assume the system will flag yourself as "friend", so you can leave the email on, and use the option for "friends only". *shrug*

Though, in my case, I'm screwed

Am I the only one who thinks the new badges are fail? More exploration badges? These things are just about the most unfulfilling things to collect. We get a little story blurb that you have to go to a separate screen to read.

I for one do not look forward to taking another lap around all of the hero zones. Again.

Yes, I know I can stop badging. But there are a lot of accolades that provide useful benefits that require the explore badges. It usually pays to just grab all the badges/plaques in a zone instead of the 1-2 needed because it really doesn't take that much more time.

Summary: Explore badges boring. More explore badges bad. Especially if they break SG teleport functionality.

To each their own. I rather like them, since they add a bit more flavor to the area you are in. I do hope they don't screw up SG teleport capability (though it probably won't take long to find them all), but other than that, they're fun. Makes it feel like more than just a faceless city: it becomes a city with history.

Hmmm, you know, it would be a GREAT idea if they somehow tied in your exploits with things you could see on the map... little reminders of what you accomplished somewhere. They could maybe be tied in with your account, as obviously they'd pile up if everyone could see each other's.

I understand why they exist and I'll even agree they do a decent job of fleshing out the game world. But doubling them seems like one of those things where they just threw a dart and hit a number. Like the crafting badges and the Oro Badges. And for these, you aren't even doing anything. Just jumping on a different rooftop or landing on a different statue's arm.

It would be pretty difficult to do any kind of "Pilgrim was here" badges in this game when most things are done in a private instance with random doors to enter them. But I do not want to poo-poo the idea - if there was some way that I personally could affect the game world it would add enjoyment to the game for sure.

I've actually come to hate exploration and history badges. Especially for accolades.

Yeah. After the about first 3-4 50's, the history/exploration badges become more than a little tedious.

Any more, I grit my teeth and deal with them in the most efficient manner possible.

The map patch is a must, imho.

As far as i17 itself. I don't know what to think. There are some nice QoL features. Four new arcs. Two each side of four missions each. Really, that's not all that much content. Ultra video mode- not sure my video card is up to spec...Tails...really..wtf? Nice for those that care. AE..who actually uses AE for anything other than farming? Yes. People still farm AE. Deal with it.

The sad thing is, I'm sure that there was a lot of hard work involved in this issue. By itself, I'm sure the video upgrade was a lot of work and testing.

Eh. Maybe I need to take break. Been feeling for a while that I may need to move on. Dunno. I keep hoping that something will rekindle some interest. As it is, I'm just button mashing. To which I'm sure most of you will heartily agree.

Anyway. Now you've been subjected to the Mayor of Doomopolis' brief review of i17.

Eh. Talk to my mf'n press secretary. I think an ad hoc committee named Masque to that post.

Send him a email about it.

I think he has a circular file used to parse out those missives for the special consideration they need.

Clearly, it's because of the upcoming whips....so this just goes to show you, that the "whips" are really tails. That's how lazy our Devs are!

I'm so getting Bug Hunter by figuring out a way to get a "tail" to show up on the front of my male character.

No, YOU deal with that!

It is true, though. There are many good player made arcs... some of them Dr. Aeon has noticed, others aren't dev choices. Ask around in the AE section of the forums or ask your fellow forumites about the ones they have made.

I don't run the AE too much, but there are a lot of fun stories and challenges out there for the AE. I do want to see more developer created missions, though.

I love it when someone gets their panties in a bunch if their sacred cow is slighted. Particularly when it is over what would be generally considered a flippant remark.

However, I suspect the total number of hours spent in AE by the player base (i.e. actually playing, not fashioning missions) is greatly slanted to those farming.

Whatever kiddo. Everyone pays their fee to play the way they wish. It wouldn't be possible for me to care less in that regard.

Here's the ball, now run along sonny.

Lol. If you knew anything about how I am irl, you'd realize that they have most likely been channeling me for all this time...

For AE that's debatable and you make a somewhat good point. For outlevelled Mayhems/Safeguards, I was only thinking of it being a permanently exempted contact and not the mission entrance. You'd still have to go to a set zone for it so you'd need to step outside your base at some point.

(skimmed through the posts) OMGosh...so far I'm loving what i17 has to offer. I've been waiting for in-game email since Day 1! More badges w/ more accolades...Yes! My altitis is killing me. Now all my teens and twenties have something to look forward to. And how sexy will my tail look when I walk down the street.

Sometimes it's the little things that make life more enjoyable. Thanks!
