Demon Summoners Question

Have they announced which AT will have access to this? I'm guessing Contrs and MMs, but haven't seen anything. Maybe one of you know?

Thanks

Travel Suppression is this game's worst feature, well that and MetaHumans riding mass transit like tourists at DisneyLand.

Only masterminds. Demon summoning is not a control or support set. Only masterminds have access to summoning/minion based powersets.

For some reason when I saw this I felt like someone would complain about MM getting special treatment. So I'm attempting to preemptively bring things into perspective.

Currently our current pri/sec combinations filter out to roughly:

Mastermind 40
Dominator 42
Blaster 54
Controller 63
Stalker 63
Scrapper 68
Tanker 79
Brute 88
Corruptor 90
Defender 90

After the new sets hit live it'll be:

Dominator 42
Mastermind 48
Blaster 60
Controller 63
Stalker 63
Scrapper 68
Tanker 79
Brute 88
Corruptor 100
Defender 100

This means Dominators need love next ^_^.

A new control set will bring them up to 49 options and if it happens to come with a matching Assault set they'll go up to 56.

Bad Voodoo by @Beyond Reach. Arc ID #373659. Level 20-24. Mr. Bocor has fallen victim to a group of hooded vigilantes who have been plaguing Port Oakes, interfering with illegal operations and pacifying villain's powers. He demands that revenge is taken on these miscreants and his powers are returned! You look like just the villain for the job. Challenging.

To Lisar: yup, the masterminds needed some love. Moreover, it was masterminds' primary that was most limited, currently limited to only 5.

And to die hard blue folks, don't worry, remember this is happening around the time you can make goody two-shoes masterminds.

Just give doms illusion control and call it a day.

I wonder if somewhere this is an alt-crazed player with one of each.

If not, I'd still bet someone is working on that.

Wouldn't that be insanely overpowered with Domination?

In the Arena of Logic, I fight unarmed.

and they have mentioned they have plans for an "electric control" set for sometime in the future (possibly between i17 and GR, but nothing specific has been mentioned)

Six out of 9 illusion powers would not benefit from domination. Three have no control component at all. For an archetype that stays alive only by virtue of its control, this is a problem. If dominators get illusion, it will have to be a heavily changed version- so much so that it'll be pretty much a new set. Due to the presence of many electric controls in various sets/NPC powers, alongside the /electric assault set, I'd say electric is waaay ahead of illusion.

I can't wait to educate a whole plethora of MM noobs in a couple weeks.... Lrn2macro, you have more than 3 buttons to command your pets. There is an advanced pet menu. Buff your teammates, then your pets! GAH

The same could be said about controllers and containment and how they rely heavly on control to survive, buffs and debuffs to a smaller degree. Have you ever played Illusion control to a high level? It doesn't sound like you know how the powers actually work.

Lvl 50 Bots/Traps MM, never used any macro's other than the 3 basic ones, slightly edited. And I can STILL kick *** with extreme prejudice.

Macro's are for those that need them

At HeroCon it was definitely presented as part of GR and they said that Dominators *might* be getting it.

I use macros on my 50 Bots/Traps/Mace MM.

Alt-2 "Follow me on aggressive."

Alt-3 "Follow me on Passive."

Alt-4 "Go to that spot over there on aggressive."

And I've got "Kill that thing over there." bound to the forward button on my mouse.

I've never needed anything else, and the default control macros didn't have the exact options I wanted (and bodyguard mode didn't exist when I made the toon back in I6, So I've never bothered to learn to use it as I've never needed it.) so I made those macros about a week after I made the toon.

I do very occasionally use the advanced pet controls when I need to set an ambush - "Go over there on Aggressive" macro to place the firing squad, followed by manually setting them all to passive until the victims arrive.

You don't NEED to use the whole plethora of available control setups, but if it floats your boat, go for it. My playstyle on my Bots/Traps MM is now set in Basalt after so many years, and evolved to suit the sets/control setup and power choices I made, so I see no need to try anything newfangled and fancy.

My level 50 Ill/emp says you made some bad assumptions. The trick is this: Illusion/support can use illusion's misdirective abilities to the most part, then use support to soften/deflect/recover from damage that gets through. The survivability support sets offers is not to be overlooked. Assault sets can kill enemies quite well, but don't offer the same help to illusion. Illusion is all about getting enemies to attack something else, while making oneself less of a target. (See two invisibility powers) assault sets take the direct approach, which reveals/refocuses aggro to the dominator. This is problematic to a dominator with a ST confuse, a ST hold, and a long-recharging PbAoE hold, since they can't rely on decoys 24/7 and the terror can't be targeted, and they can't help their phantasm stay alive as well.

Just sounds like bad playing style to me I could survive and even thrive with illusion control for doms. Thye have an AOE fear that does minus to-hit and is up every spawn plus decoys which tank. And for the record doms keep their pets alive threw controling the enemy same with controllers only diff is controllers can buff their pets which is NOT the case for for 5 of 6 illusion pets so seems like it would be even more ideal for doms.

illusion control is cool, but if they were to port it to villains i wish they would give villains the version that malaise has, the shadow control or whatever he uses, it would thematically fit better and possibly give options for an assault set (would need to be worked out to fit players, but it would like an option like this over direct proliferation)

I have 2 doms, one in their 40s and the other a 50, and I also have an Ill/Rad controller in his late 20s. I barely use my /Rad powers for my troller when I solo, as Illusion is just that good. I'm really not seeing any problems trying to survive with it for a dom.

It's because of people like you my MM solos.

Not really, since most of the powers in Illusion Control wouldn't help build Domination, and wouldn't benefit from Domination. In fact, I would expect to see Illusion Summoning (new Mastermind primary) before we see Illusion Control given to Dominators.

You are darn right they need love. I know it takes a lot more to make a MM powerset than any other, but yah, here's hoping for the primary count to reach around 7-10 in the next few issues or proliferations.

Can't wait to see what those demons look like, I read that they have skeleton masks, might be untrue, but I can't help but picture lock, shock, and barrel from Nightmare before Christmas XD
