Something Great Happened tonight

I was rebooting a hero, and they had 1.2 million in influence, and I wanted to pass that on to another hero that I am currently using in a static group. I asked someone, who shall go nameless, under Atlas in AP to help me transfer to the other hero, and offered them half of the influence. They said no, which was very cool of course. And then when the transfer went through, they gave me 5 mill. I was like thank you very much, so kind of you to do that, and they offered to help out in the future, which I declined, because I want to earn my influence. But, it's that kind of player that keeps me in COH. Great community. All you bad apples, lol, could learn something from this kind soul.

I've also been offered free influence in a few instances and I always ask if they're wanting anything in return. They usually say no, but I still feel the need to return the favor. I agree that there's come really great people here in the game that make me look forward to my next login.

Thats an awesome story dude. I've been the benefit of the generosity of a stranger before too. About a year ago, my lvl 31 troller was running around Bricks, when I receive a tell from someone in the SG I was in at the time. He asked to meet me at Swan, and when I show up, he requests a trade, so I assume he wants to transfer inf to a diff toon. He proceeds to give me close to 18mil inf (a big deal to me at that time, because I was a new player then) I asked him what toon he wants me to give this to, and he said he was he was leaving the game and wanted to give his inf to someone. Ever since that day, I've always tried to be generous and help out newer players in this game. Not only does it help them out, but it makes the giver feel good as well.

Something similar happened to me a couple weeks ago. I wanted to transfer some Halloween salvage and Influence to a new toon and I asked someone in City Hall to help me in exchange for 500k. Not only did the person not take the 500k, they gave my new toon 1-million more inf than I had given them, which was greatly appreciated and very helpful with his frequent costume changes.

Every now and then I get that too. Sometimes it's for helping with a transfer but generally i've had people do it because of the way my character looks or because of their description. I've never found myself that good - my characters are my type of thing but honestly it means more to know there are people out there who like the idea rather than getting free influence.

Congrats on meeting one of cohs very many generous folk.

They'd steal it and run on freedom. No, just kidding.

Welcome to Virtue. We may be full of whiners, drama queens and self important jackasses, but thieves are few and far between.

And some of us even give away free stuff. Yay stuff, right?

Yep! Buncha nice folks here.

I was playing a lowbie scrapper and saw someone in Atlas with a really nice costume. I clicked on them and read their bio which was great too. So I sent them a tell and told them how creative and inventive they both were.

They gave me a thank you reply and dropped ten million on me.

I was stunned but grateful.

Here's another example of random niceness. There was someone running around Atlas last night playing hide and seek, and giving away 10mil inf to the 1st person to find them. She did it about 15 times and gave away 150mil inf to lowbies under lvl 14. (that was her only stipulation, you had to be lvl 13 or lower)

Another random nice thing: I moved over Distray Zone from my other main server to here not too long ago and he already got a ((Nice costume.)) tell from a random stranger.

I still regret making him a little short, but it's those little things that you just gotta smile about.

Nice stories. I've never been 10mil generous but I do drop lvl 50 enhancements on lowbee characters running around atlas.

Yeah, that's always been something nice and sneaky to do for someone. If I see someone with a very low veteran time, usually three months or less, who JUST happens to be idle/afk, I drop a level 50 SO or two into their inventory. You can't give inf to someone without their cooperation, but the SOs are handy for doing the occasional "drive by."

Before I came to CoX, I played GTA SA:MP for nearly two years.

Over this time I travelled various servers until lastly playing on one called Vortex. Brilliantly modded and run by some very good moderators. The above mentioned server I also helped develop/beta test for the updates that happened daily!

After deciding my GTA career was up, I had ammassed around 18 Million cash, and twice the equivelant in sellable commodities, businesses etc which I passed onto a guy I met there, who I though was a great RPer and always impressed me with his style and sense of humour. HE was so greatful, and is now possibly the richest man on Vortex.

After being subbed on CoX for about a week, I met a very nice chap. We chatted alot about stuff and got on well. Without any word or fore-warning I was given 500K, WOW I thought that was pretty cool of you!

It wasn't until about a week later when I relogged that toon I realised he'd given me 5 million, I was so impressed and they said it was small change? I wish I had that sort of change about the house.

And alos, whilst typing this,l a nice chap has agreed to help me swap some Influ for some Infam.

Ah, life is sweet!

[EDIT]
OMFG I just got back from completing a deal with a very generous gentleman. US player who agreed to transfer some Infamy over Blackmarket. I bought a recipe for 1 INf that he listed, I then re-listed it for the same amount as instructed and what did he do? Bought it for 20 million!

Thankyou so very much dude! I reiterate, Life is VERY sweet!

Yeah. They'd actually steal it and run on Victory.

One of the coolest moments of CoH was coming out of character creation into Atlas and having someone giving me 10 mil influence right out the door.

Of course, then I had to botch it by being a total newbcake and accidentally converting ALL of it to prestige for a SG that broke up not much later, but hey, it was a really cool gesture.
