Where Is Everyone?!
The Devs decided AE was broken. Well, no, they decided the potential of getting from 1-50 within a day was ludicrously broken.
So they fixed it.
That has nothing to do with any 'player cartel' on the forums.
Hell, me and my friends still use AE. Are we breaking some sort of self-imposed law that AE is dead?
Did someom mention an ignore button..?
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

So...I've had this tremendous influence as part of the Cartel...and didn't even know it???
When I think of all the wasted months of flagrant power abuse I could have enjoyed...

I'm pretty sure that 'Forum Cartel' is just a label applied to people who have a certain large number of posts. I don't think it is an actual organization.

There's not even agreement within this so-called "cartel" - any agreement is because the individual *posting* the agreement, well, agrees. Or agrees with some modifications. Of course, being *individuals,* you'll also find people with the "Forum cartel" label DISagreeing as well - sometimes vehemently.
But, no, pushing some paranoid conspiracy theory that there's this tiny amount of players in a shadowy "Forum Cartel" with incredible influence over the game lets a few, like Tank up there, pretend they're a lone voice crying out against their oppressors - when in fact, all they're doing is crying.
Congrats, you realize what a noisy few refuse to. They could reword it as "Millionaire" and it would have just as big an impact on my taxes as "Forum cartel" does on any "influence" supposedly wielded over the direction of the game.

You mean the Forum Cartel DOESN'T control the world's supply of diamonds and keep the prices artificially high and uphold the myth that diamonds are rare!?
Oh, wait...That's some other cartel...
Quit busting the intraweb!

At the moment, I'm guessing that everyone who has access to the closed beta is on the Test Server checking out Dual Pistols. The closed beta started TODAY.

How else do you think he manages to make enough money to afford all those robots? Well, that and his involvement in the Columbian Fruit Pie trade.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
Hesitant to chime in here, but... The problem I had with those who only PLed in the AE, was that they didn't STAY there. The got to 50, and then decided the rest of the game and non-AE teams were for them. I have no problem explaining the game to a new player on a low level (below 30) toon, but if you are lvl 50, you should know you way out of AP. Call me an elitist if you want, but really, AP?
So what they did was leave the AE, and then started to screw things up for others who were playing the game, and not sitting at the end of a map while some one else played for them. I am not saying everyone who did the AE thing was like this, but there were enough to give the AE a bad name.
Just my take on it.

What I did at the time... was farm behemoths/purples.
Then I sold them to AE babies, and made a killing.
(since I was always solo, I wasn't effected by the whole "esplain things" to lvl 50 newbies)
Although there is no debating that Tank's posts tend to be overly dramatic and completely blown out of proportion I do at least partly agree. I tried to make interesting and entertaining arcs in the MA.
To do this I focused on two things. First, creating custom groups and testing them out to make sure their power was on a par with existing groups. Not overpowered but not tissue paper targets either.
Second I liked making the arcs so that the danger ramped up as they arc went on. In a comic book it would be something like Iron Man starts an investigation and is attacked by agent of AIM. As he continues to work his way deeper into the plot he encounters AIM agents with weapons specifically designed to take him on. Finally he winds up against Super Villains who have been hired by AIM or were working with them all along. It's a classic comic book type plot. The problem is this when trying to recreate such a story.
Balance the custom groups so they are equal to canon groups? Sorry, they don't have every single power they need so they are worth less exp.
Have the first mission equate to taking on AIM troops? Sorry, those are minions with a couple unique lieutenants thrown in. Uniques don't count for the all 3 needed rule so the reduced exp of the minions is cut to almost nothing.
Middle section of the arc is minions and lieutenants but not yet the named bosses (supervillains)? Sorry, still only two out of three groups needed and still don't have every single power available to them so exp is reduced.
End of the arc? Well you get the idea. I liked creating the stories I wanted to tell but almost nobody is willing to run through one of those stories if it doesn't give full exp. And I really don't feel like turning my custom villains and story line into just another Nemesis plot.
If you actually want to check the arc I was working on when I gave up it's #250142 Lockdown. And keep in mind while playing that I had to tone the custom group down severely because they were causing team wipes left and right for experienced players. The arc is actually pretty much complete with only minor tweaking left.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
OH NOES! NOT TEH EXPEEZ!
Sorry, I just don't care about XP in AE. They could take it out entirely for all I care. If I run an AE arc, I run it for the fun and the story, not for "rewards". The arc itself is my reward.
But yeah everyone is testing Duel Pistols.
