When does the game get good? (or Do you like lvls 1-20?)
For me, 30+ is the best! You begin to see how powerful you will be, and you're fighting the truly evil villains. What could be more epic?
to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
It depends on the powerset for me. Some, I can't wait to get some number of levels under my belt - rarely for stamina, usually "so I have SOME freaking powers to use." |
Levels 6-20 feel like a chore to me because, if I want a travel power and stamina ASAP, then 5/8th of my power choices will be spent on boring utilitarian powers (yay... health) instead of sexy new attacks, controls, debuffs, etc. I've taken up using Ninja Run instead of a travel power which helps some but they're just not a lot of fun.
Add to it the Fed-Ex missions which make me want to just do police scanners rather than run three zones over to talk to someone and be sent three more zones over yonder. As a result, the early game mission arcs go largely unplayed by me which is kind of a shame. I haven't fought Dr. Vahz for years... |
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
I like 1 to 20 for the first 5 or 6 times through it, after that I pl my alts because A) It gets old fast and B) No stamina = endless grind and C) hate hitting rest.
YES I KNOW I WILL BE DISAPPOINTED! I am holding on to hope that this expansion will NOT just be 1 to 20... Takes me under 3 hours to play through those levels solo... 3 hours. |
My husband and i made new alts a week ago and played them for about 8 hours straight. We were actually on a decent team of 5, and we were set to 8. I think we cracked lvl 16 in just under 8 hours.
There is no way to go from 1 - 20 in 3 hours solo. And I see I am not the only one to think you're more then a little full of it. Then again...look at your reputation.

I'd love to see proof. You cannot go from 1 - 20 in 3 hours solo, even set for an 8 man team, in 3 hours.

I am sorry you can not achieve this, but I can. I can go from 1 to 20 solo, while porting myself around with a 50... (I guess its not a classic solo... but still I am the only one on the team that is human.)
Maybe, if yanno, you were a nicer person I would bother proving it to you. But, yanno... with all your responsibilities being the nicest human being ever... I won't bother clogging up your schedule.
PS: I havent played the low level content in this game for OVER 1.4 years, because I am bored of it. But, I assure you... The last time I did... I broke just under 3 hours.
I only remember because my husband reminded me... we were racing <3 and was fun.
Solo = One character
Thats 1-20 in 3 hours by being power leveled by your own 50.
You can argue semantics as much as you like.
In normal content, there is no way to get to 1-20 in three hours...Not solo.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

In order to avoid the tedium of Fed Ex's and the same old content in the low levels, I am levelling up my latest lowbie in AE. Solo, so far, so no farm teams. There are plenty of good low-level arcs available.
I just made 13, and in the process, got a fair number of tickets. Doing random Bronze rolls on the lowest range (10-14?), I got the Steadfast Protection +Def unique, and two Karma KB protection recipes (as well as a bunch of junk that I vendored). After crafting and selling these, I was able to amass a goodly chunk o' influence, and will certainly not be in want for some time!
My other major peeve with the low levels is the lack of accuracy. I HATE missing! It was a great relief to finally make level 12, and be able to equip common Lvl 15 IO's (two each per attack), thus pretty much ending "whiff-fest."
In response to the discussion regarding DO's and SO's, I have found that it is less expensive to go all IO's - badgers frequently sell low level common IO's at really low rates, just to free up their market slots, and it is a whole lot easier to just deal with Wentworth's than having to go all over from contact to contact to open up the origin stores, prior to being able to go to Talos or IP and visit actual stores.
It wasn't PL. It was on CoV. Under 3 hours. The 50 was for travel purposes only.

Even then, you've not answered the question; how did the one lowbie go from 1-20 in that time? What AT and sets, and what missions?

I've never actually fought Doc Vahz. At all. Ever, in the three years I've been playing.

Shame no one ever does the arc any more (or so it seems). I remember back in the day, hanging out in Atlas and seeing the Infected heroes running by, covered in flies It was (is) really a distinctive arc.
As a result of this thread, I ran the Ouro mission last night and beat up Dr. Vahz for good times. With the Level+5 powers, I got to keep my stamina at lvl 19 so that handled the worst of the issues.

The point at which I hit lvl 47 and can start implementing my Mid's builds for a character via IOs/Sets, start getting accolades, doing high-level TFs, and generally doing what my hero/villain was *meant* to do is when the game gets fun for me.
The journey there? Ehhh... The first 1 or 2 years of gameplay, it was nice... after 4 and a half years or so... Not so much. "End game" is where it's at.
"Alien"
76 characters and Twenty-four 50s later, I still love this game.

Yes, I like levels 1-20.

It's still not solo. It's two characters. Levelling solo means one character. It doesn't matter that you play both of them. It's still not under the normal restrictions of a 1-20 character.

Hell, I was on a level 3 this morning and I was doing AE missions and later got on a sewer/KR team and ended up being level 10 when I logged and I'm still scratching my head how somebody goes 1-20 in under 3 hours purely solo even if they only used AE so no, to little need for travel. Let's say a mission take 10 minutes to run. That means you get under 18 missions in that time frame in order to hit 20.

AE farms, maybe. Depending on what kind of farm it is. Even then, most AE farms are "kill everything in sight".
Besides, doesn't AE not have an XP reward at the end, only ticketpalooza? So... what reward?

Getting a temp travel power at level 6, a more player friendly Hollows, and being able to run 15 - 20 in Faultine, makes the early game enjoyable enough for me. New leveling path options are always welcome, so another way to go from 1 to 20 gets two thumbs up from me.
That being said, I'm still hoping for more than that. If it is only 1-20 hopefully it's being designed with the ability to add higher level content, and not be locked into a 20 level limit that can't be changed like our level cap of 50.
The thought of having our higher levels "Ouroboros" back to level 1 to change sides is very meh to me, so I'm hoping that that's not the case.
