Okay. Since I've been a member as of Jan. 2009, I've posted over 300 plus times so I am in the "Rookie" category. Unfortunately, I work for a living so I really don't spend too much time in this forum unless I have a question or idea for the game. Occasionally I will get on during lunch at work, which is what I'm doing now

The thing that always makes me go "Hmmmmm" is the folks that are in the 15,000 to 20,000 posts category. Think about it. How many times a day would someone have to be on to achieve such an event? I am not really sure when the actual forums started if it was from the inception of CoH 2004'ish or later? If it was later then that's "really" amazing.
I know that if someone really gets involved in a post by commenting back and forth, that the total number of that persons posts will grow exponentially. So, unless someone doesn't do this for a living or just sits in front of their computer all day, how is it possible? Look at it like this: Lets say the forums did start-up in 2004. We'll say five years or 365 days x 5yrs. = 1825 days. If someone has over 20,000 posts, that's roughly an average of 11 posts per day! 11 x 365 = 4015 per yr. 4015 x 5 yrs. = 20,075 posts! I myself, probably average 15 to, maybe if I'm lucky, 30 posts a month. Even if I quit my job and did this full time, I don't think I could do it as I would probably run out of things to say...lol.
Now I am only talking about non-CoX employees. This doesn't count for someone works for NCSoft as they do this for a living, keeping us informed. This is for the regular person who plays the game. I will give the benefit of the doubt to the few who do have the luxury of not having to work for a living and are on these forums constantly to help others as they feel it is their civic duty and it makes them sleep better at night 
. So, with that being said, do you guys think there are those who "deliberately" try to get as many posts to reach the next ranking? So, they may try and respond to as many posts as possible? Are there really people out there like this? If so, then I really need to say "Hmmmmmmmm".
It's EASY to get well over 11 posts a day.

By the way, even if a moderator deletes your posts... they still count. Your post count will never be REDUCED. Hell, I don't think the mods can even manually reset people's post counts.
lol well I only have like 550 posts (not sure exactly), but it is because I observe the forums rather than post, most of the time.

Almost all of my posts are answers here, answers in Tech Issues, or discussion here, Tech, or General. Answering questions here is an EASY way to bump your post count. There's ALWAYS new people to help, or old players with new questions.

My first response is, "Why worry about it, or how many posts anyone has?" Because, quite frankly, it doesn't matter. I have quite a few... doesn't mean I'm not wrong, or that someone else posting their very first post doesn't have a brilliant idea or view we should listen to. (Tangental point - it seems the people (not you specifically) that worry most about post counts are those with lower ones - there get to be spurts of "You think everyone should listen to you because you have X many posts!" that, quite frankly... I can't recall anyone WITH one of the higher post counts, or reg dates for that matter, using as any sort of justification.)
Go down to Forum Games. There are, or were, some long threads in there (haven't been in there in a long, long time,) where just an hour of back and forth BSing could probably add 20-30-40 posts in an hour. Even ignoring that area, just some back and forth arguments can add several posts a day just from one thread.
I pretty much just scan for new posts in Player Questions, Archetypes & Powers General Discussion, City Life - CoH & CoV General Discussions, Suggestions and Ideas, and Comic and Hero/Villain Culture (occasionally looking at the Mastermind and Defender forums, too) whenever I've got free time. Then I respond if I feel like saying anything. I do create new threadds on occasion, but it's rare.
Just doing that, I've racked up an average of 27.34 posts per day since registering (3 years ago next Friday)
I should note that I am, in fact, sitting in front of my computer for most of the day. I've even got my laptop with me in my classes, and most of my classes are liesurely enough to allow me time to make a post here or there.

Well, it certainly helps if the high post count is achieved answering Player Questions or writing Player Guides (see: Memphis_Bill), or writing strong, well-thought out arguments for whatever the case may be (see: Aett_Thorn), or hanging out in the Technical Help forum (see: BillZBubba). On the other hand, if most of the posts are from Forum Games (see: Golden_Ace), it's not quite the same thing. GA may be famous for his prodigious number of posts, but people like BillZ and Aett are more generally respected, I think.

Eventually you recognize names, versus post counts. FatherXmas (who I just noticed *is* over 10,000 - thought he was lower) I've pretty much taken as one of the last words on computer hardware for... well, years. Or, for instance, Macskull on PVP issues. Even if I don't particularly *like* someone, if I know they've got the experience, I'll take their word. (Snowglobe and I don't get along, particularly, for instance - on the other hand, I've got a friendly rivalry with EvilGeko.) There are some names that, if they say something on a subject, it's the fact it's *them* saying it versus "They have X many posts" that make me give it any more (or less, in the case of some, like power_na) consideration. Otherwise - it's by what I'm seeing in the body of the post, not that column to the left.
Of course, in some of those instances, the fact they *are* the go-to people leads to more posts from them, so that can be a bit of a circular situation.
If there were a real "give this person's opinion due weight" number, most of the above would have appropriately high "rank" regardless of post count, reg date, or forum rep.

Awhile ago, I posted a forum about the ranking status on these forums. Someone sent me a nice break down of what you get in ranking per the number of post you've submitted. For the life of me I cannot find it in the FAQ section anywhere or my prior posts as it may have been removed since it was so long ago.
Can anyone give me the breakdown again of the ranking status. For example 1-100 posts = Recruit, 101-500 posts = Rookie, etc, etc.: Thanks
