When we first started playing CoX, my family and I got into it pretty heavy. We were playing constantly, switching off, taking turns. It was all new to use, and we were loving it.

One weekend, if I recall correctly, we were hiking up to some falls in our area, and were having a good time just being together. My wife made a comment about something high up on the falls, and I said I couldn't see what she wanted me to see. My son, bless his little gamer heart, said "Adjust your camera angle with either the Insert or delete key...", kept right on walking, and never realized what he had said.

We took a few days break before resuming the game...

I started plying Magic The Gathering with my brother recently, and today he took me to a pre-release for the new Worldwake set. One of the cards I got was called "Comet Storm" but every time I played it I called it the "Coming Storm".

My bro got a card called Archon of Redemption, and I kept imagining it as a Council boss with wings.

The background music for Duo starts out with the continuing Force Field sound effect, except it's not unnaturally cut off like it is in City of Heroes. Now, every time I play Duo, I imagine a film of soap bubble between me and the computer screen.

Download the game, extract the files, then load up Media/Duo.mp3 if you just want to hear the music.

I used to take classes at Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta, and I'd have to walk back and forth between the classroom buildings and work. On the way, there is a courthouse with a historical plaque on the side of it that looks exactly like a history plaque in-game.

I'm no good at designing real-life costumes, but I really did at some point want to get a picture of me dressed up as a hero standing beside it and reading it for a costume contest one year, strange looks from passers-by be damned.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

My local Uni campus has a building called "Babbage", and I can't pass it without smiling.

Ran into a good one today.

An engineering technical presentation was sitting in the printer, with the following slide titles (among others less applicable to COH/V, of course):

Need to get T. F. from Rod to Power
Control of Kinetics
Now add a Controller

Those look like regular thread titles from our forums, don't they? Uncanny.

For Christmas last year an in-game friend sent me a coffee mug that says, "I am a Superhero cleverly disguised as an Engineer." It is my daily reminder of CoH. If only we had an Engineer day job.

I walked past someone in the street and they proclaimed in a harsh, metallic voice that Lord Nemesis was watching me. I totally got a CoH vibe from that!

At HeroCon 2008, six of us went up to San Francisco for the day, and next to the Golden Gate bridge is a plaque that looks a lot like our history plaques. Cue us standing next to it all touching it while other bemused tourists look on...

Then we go to Fisherman's Wharf, where inset into the ground is a compass rose just like our exploration badges. Cue more bemused tourists looking at us as we all crowd around it, with our cameras pointing at our feet.

I took this picture last fall as I was walking to work. I instinctively edged around the trees just in case they were an ambush.

There's a certain street im my city where if im stopped at it im always reminded of Skyway City.

Every time I pass an electrical station (jungle gym things, dont know what theyre called) I think of clockwork and ineveitably Paladin.

I'm guilty of the plaque touching urges

I also tend to classify people as alginments. many people ill think of as being green (my allies) Blue (neutral) or Red (enemy) the people I think of as red I mentally refer to as villains.

My brother and I actually split the entire movie Watchmen into CoH missions and such

50Soulsunder: DM/Regen Scrapper
50Limitshift: EM/WP Brute
Victoria Nox: Dark/Dark Dominator
And about 5 others that change constantly...

I was driving late at night on a long trip, about 350 miles, and was following behind a big semitruck. Late at night those are what is mostly on the road. Following along behind one is a great way to set pace.

I knew it was time to stop and get a hotel for the night when I reached for the "f" key on my steering wheel.

Really.

This!

This happened to me yesterday.

There was also a single occasion where I was walking somewhere and mentally reached for my Travel Power toggle...

Last night, actually, I was walking in my kitchen and I told my wife that I was hearing the tell sound in my head now.
She said that she heard it as well.
I started stomping on the floor and it was something rattling on the counter with my footsteps. Still, it sounded very much like the tell chimes.

A few weeks ago, I jumped off the roof of my house before hitting fly (I like those dramatic, run forward, leap, then time activating flight just right)... Before I realized I didn't have that in my toolbar.
Needless to say, my medcom transporter did not activate...
I had no lifts...
My wife did not have a res...
And now I am dead.
Of course... My wife has Soul Extraction...
And it turns out that I was always just a henchman of hers anyways.

That explains all the foolish running around I was always doing...

I was using my super powers to foil a bank robbery the other day, and I thought, "Wow, this is just like City of Heroes!"
