Sigh.. unimpressed...

Was hoping for something that adds defense


Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

Well, technically, you'll be getting a +5% when you pop a purple on top of what it already is. That is more defense, correct?

Eh, I like them and happy to still get them.

As for defense, I would rather not have another buff pet that dies 0.5 sec into every battle.

A quick question for you slightly older vets (since I am at 66 since December), last night while playing, I was debating on starting a new toon with the least I can make from vet rewards and only TO/DO/SO until 50. So no wand/staff/base TP, etc. I won't even take from the SG bins. Just to get that "new" player feel again.

Worth trying? Am I crazy?

Penny: You'll go crazy IMO. And waste more inf along the way. Won't be so bad in teams, but any soloing will feel incredibly different from 20+ on. I'm sorry you were so bored last night that you were able to day dream about other masochistic ideas O.o


Yes! Another respec! I haven't used *any* of the vet ones for anybody yet....Better than a costume token maybe?

The last one is better, but I think a little too late (for me to be interested/excited about it). They should probably end it there IMO.

*raises hand* New guy requesting permission to speak...

I say it would simply be something interesting to look at to compare playstyles from what advantages there are now and "normal" play.

I am way too curious as to what "new" players are going through. When I played early on, we were all in the same situation. There was no vet rewards to worry about. But a new player now would see vets just pull out a wand, or hit sands of mu, or base TP away. I saw that in Voo's regular team where early on we were all using nem staff or such on each group.

I have thought about this for a while, but just the other day I got on a lowbie pug team redside, and got me thinking even more. I like to check badges and globals of people I never teamed with ( ). Amazing, the oldest one was a 12 month vet and the rest 6, lower, or even none. And the globals I saw were not in any of the channels I saw. Granted could be multiple accounts, and means nothing.

Okay, will stop threadjacking!

not necessarily. As I read it you get a +5% bonus. So a +25% def now becomes a +26.25%, not +30%.

I agree with Voo. I think after a while you will become exceptionally frustrated with how long it takes to bring things down doing it the old way. Now, for an ISOS team, that would be an idea.

Respec doesn't hurt, through as Vood said, not hugely needed. Another character slot is nice.

The last vet rewards was nicer / more useful.

Eh, they have those periodically. I think it usually switched off for a lot of them, one reward gave you a power or something, the next just a respec. Kind of saw that coming.

They really are going to start running into problems coming up with powers that are useful, but not overly powerful, I think. I don't see them giving anyone extra defense, for instance. Most rewards aren't going to be that earth-shaking, and I doubt they'll even do costumes anymore... it'd take far too long for most players to get there (I think I'm about to hit 48 months in February, and I have been playing a fair amount).

I understand wanting to do them still, but it wouldn't surprise me if some on the dev team were seeing them as burdensome now, heh.

That's my point. Anyone who's a 69 month vet will already be sitting on a stack of respecs. They should discontinue offering those as "rewards" at this level.

I think my main issue is the 6 merits (.08 merits a month); I mean that's not even enough for a random recipe roll...

Gosh, a whole influx of ..whatever lowest level recipe they can make. THAT WOULD DESTROY THE INTERNETS!

I can't see it being for low level limits. Maybe......maybe....for the glut of level 20+ characters out there. But I can't forsee a bunch of people leveling up just to do this. It probably could happen of course, but even so, I don't think it would have that much of an impact.

Is there a minimum level a toon has to be in order to random roll? I don't know as I never even look at IO sets below 30.

In fact I think they should do away with IO sets below 30 as the enhancement values are almost worthless when considering the salvage/crafting costs and compared to regular IOs. Factor in the archaic respec system and slotting IO sets below 30 is a waste IMO.

The exception of course are procs; which because the values are static across levels I think need to have the levels removed from the recipe. In other words a "Level 50 Devestation: Chance to Hold" would just be "Devestation: Chance to Hold"

IIRC, the max level you can roll is whatever level range you are in. A level 10 cannot random/pick a recipe above level 10. If you are a 50, you can choose from whatever range you want. I have zero idea if a sub-10 can roll/choose at all?
