Named boss more challenging for big teams
Try playing something other than radio or newspaper missions and you'll find plenty of elite bosses or even AV/Hero class enemies.
That said, your suggestion isn't terrible. I might use that for my scrappers to make things interesting.

I kind of like the idea because the named bosses at the end of a mission are the same or do sometimes actually feel weaker than the standard ones. And that doesn't make sense in my head!
My only concern is that there are a lot of named bosses out there (just checked Freakshow in paragon wiki who have about 70!!) so it means potentially having a lot more EBs out there. Maybe there could be something between Boss and Elite Boss could be created for them.
Just my thought.
Making some 'Generic' EBs would be quite cool. Freakshow Uber Tanks, Crey 'Heroes', Arachnos Officers, Supa Trolls (they really shouldn't be LTs, but hey)..it doesnt take too much creativity to come up with some cool stuff.
And yeah, make it an add-on to Mission Diff options. Don't make them into anything like Ballistas, for pity sake. Or Frostfire (He's a killer around lvl 14, when he gets both pets and his hold). But something like some of the 'Generic' Hero EBs you fight in some villain side missions would be nice. Tougher than a Boss, but not to the point of being lolBallista.

It doesn't sound too complicated to change the boss to an elite boss class.
I'm just surprised at all these good suggestions showing up in the forums. I probably shouldn't have said anything to jinx it.

I always chalk it up to the fact that their speech bubble usually makes them target #1 on teams. Poor guys don't even always get to finish talking.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Well, I always find them horrible. Forcefield, attacks included, energy attacks and FF blasts at Blaster level with a Tanks HP and Scrappers punching power?
Just ouch. And don't get me started on Characters with no KB...

Sadly, lots of story arcs have only one EB/AV, and that's either at the end of the whole arc (after lots of missions without nothing more than a named boss), or 2-3 times in a 10-missions row.
Some exceptions like Maria Jenkins can be found, but they are pretty rare...
Other than the game actually lacking NPCs to fill that role, I have no problem with it. Remember, the game has VERY few genuine elite bosses. Most of what you see carrying the rank are downgraded AVs. Outside of Frostfire, Atta, Blade Princes and Ballistae, very few enemies have non-special elite bosses, and outside of Biff and Withershins, I can't think of any. The Supafreak out to be an AV.
Point is, for every faction and every boss in it (woe betide he who would mess with the Tsoo bosses), you'd need a ton of EBs to cover all options, and that sounds like a whole honking heap of work. If we can convince the developers it's worth it, then I have no problem with. I wouldn't put too much importance on this, though, as it is not a personal priority of mine, being that I mostly solo.

I'd like named Bosses to be chosen from a pool of unique models, so for example, a named Council Archon would use a model that wasn't wearing a helmet - or a Malta Gunslinger model but with out the hat, and the bandana pulled down from his face - or a Crey Scientist who wasn't wearing the hat and mask.

I'm for buffing them. The game could use more things in the EB rank. A large number of things seem to jump right from Bosses to AVs and Heros. Now granted ,we do have a fair number of EBs: the ITF is loaded with them, for example, but take, for example, Mayhem missions. Why is it that my options for a final fight are Boss or Hero? We KNOW there's an EB Holo Man in game. Add him to the rotation.
Here's my quick suggestion...
-Give each group ONE "standard" EB. Cimeroan Traitors have the Generals, Rikti have Heavies and Maguses. Longbow has Ballistas. Most groups have something you could fit into the EB slot at appropriate levels.
-Starting at level 20 (EBs are used for AVs before level 20), in any REPEATABLE mission (NP, Radio, Borea, Marcus, etc) where the goal is "Defeat BOSSNAME", if the player's difficulty is set to allow for AVs, then upgrade the BOSSNAME to that faction's appropriate EB. This would let the repeatable missions, which are the missions players will see most of by their nature, feel significantly cooler and allow for a boss fight that actually feels like a boss fight.

For the "big" teams (settings for 7 to 8 people), on most missions, all spawns in a map contains 2 bosses.

This includes of course the last spawn, with the named boss (well, except the rare missions with Archvillains).
Basically, the fight versus this last spawn isn't different from the 20 or more previous fights in the map. Only difference : chat bubbles from that named boss.
So finally, you've just defeated another boss (with his unnamed twin brother)
It would be really nice if, for big team settings, the named boss could be upgraded to an Elite Boss.
That could add some challenge to each mission ("now comes the real fight"), and fighting the last spawn could feel less like grinding for a standard steam-rolling team. Could also bring an "achievement feeling", since this spawn was special to fight (not just another standard spawn which ends the mission).
This is already possible with the Architect.
However, that would really be cool if the Devs could make that for all missions (eventually adding an option "named bosses are elite bosses" in the Enhanced Difficulty Options).
Going further, that Elite Boss could use :
- design&powers from another existing Elite Boss in the same faction (Baron Zoria or Blade Prince in a CoT map,...);
- just a new design, to not lure people away from some Story-Arcs including EBs with unique powers. That design could be just slightly different from the regular boss appearance (red shirt instead of purple shirt), meaning he's a little more important than others (hey, he also has a name !!!), but he still needs to gain more power later;
- let's be crazy, a totally new EB (design&powers) for each faction !
- other suggestions
