Request to the Devs: Character size!

I realize this has already been brought up & I'm a nub because I didn't search the forum & post in one of the existing threads but you knew I would make a new thread anyway because I'm nub.

You here people demanding a "growth" option of sorts.

What I would enjoy more than a large character is a tiny one in the height range of BNY

I want a tiny scrapper who decimates mobs without being seen.

I want a tiny blaster floating in the air, raining justice down upon the hooligans.

I want my itsy, bitsy MM to truly be dwarfed by his Robots.

Thx for reading.

You may commence flameage.

Perhaps the only reason this isn't allowed is due to PvP. You would be nearly impossible to detect... regardless of Perception as a Stalker.

Also, it would be hard for other players to select you, in order to Trade, get Info or whatnot.

I have to ask, though: why?

Why I want to be tiny?

Umm...I need a tiny toon to match my tiny intellect ;-)

This is purely for the aesthetics.

It would serve no functional purpose other than to put a smile on my face during gameplay.

You shouldn't feel any aggression or dismissiveness towards me.

I'm just a nub & I'm still learning.

Actually, it wouldnt matter. You might not be 'physically' perceptible if you were allowed to be "ant-sized", but there is something you may (or may not) have noticed. In PvP, no matter what size (4 foot or 9 foot) the Player Character or NPC is; the Targetting Box is always the same size, and I can target you if I can 'perceive' you per the mechanics of the game just by hitting the Tab key. And when I target you, the Standard Targeting Box will appear. THAT is the standard for perception in the game. You could be small enough to fit behind a small rock, but your Targeting Box will be perceivable since it is bigger than the small rock.

And as mentioned previously, in the PvE game, it would just be annoying if someone wanted to trade with you, or target you for a Buff. The Targeting Box size still comes into play here, but in the confusion of a big battle you would end up the 'odd man out' when a Buffer doesnt realize that you are someone he wants/needs to Buff, and has to find your Targeting Box sort of hit or miss style.

Ty Ninus.

With respect to teaming.

When I'm the healer/buffer, I do not actively click on a teammate's character in the middle of the fray.

When I'm the healer/buffer..actually whenever I play regardless of AT..I play with the team window open.

When someone needs something, I find their name on the list of teammates & apply the appropriate action.

I always target team-mates through the team list, and so should everyone else. Targeting is not a problem. Personally I've seen way too many tiny Huge tankers to be amused by the miniscule but I don't see why we can't be really tiny if we want to. If they ever figure out how to change our size on the fly they could make a mission where we're all shrunk down in size and must survive a trip across a garden or something.

I didnt really mean in a Team situation; more of in a large outdoors group (not Team), like a Zombie Apocalypse, Rikti Invasion, Ship Raid, etc. Otherwise, you both are correct; the team box is the best method to see someone who needs a hand (Heal, Buff, Rez, etc.). Just an example of where it would be a little harder dealing with a truly tiny toon.

lols that made me think of Honey I shrunk the kids.

Yes I agree with the idea hear hear for tiny people. It would make me want to actully make a fire controller cause I have an idea that only works if I'm the same size as the imps.

Well, the Imps are based on the Rikti Monkey model so unless they scale to the character; it should be doable. At least on one of my absolute minimum size characters when I activate my Vet Reward Domesticated Rikti Monkey they are exactly the same size. Sorta funny.

And this statement is why I dislike this idea. Telling people how to play the game means less people want to play the game.

If someone wants to click-target on a character to buff, they shouldn't have difficulty to do so.

Then there is PVP. Even though it is easy to tab-target an enemy, there are enough powers that require clicking near a target that this would be open to abuse. Then there is the hide without a hide power that could be achieved by this suggestion.

Even the original poster admits that is one of the reasons for the request when they say "I want a tiny scrapper who decimates mobs without being seen."

So, completely /unsigned.

I vote allow it, but, when entering a PvP zone, automatically increase a tiny character's size to the four feet. That means we get all the normal fun in PVE zones, but don't have to worry about it being unfair in PVP

I don't really see how baby new year size could be an issue. He's very easy to click and see like those pet whisps and fairies. If a player's size makes him too hard to buff then how would this be an issue for anyone but the player?

I imagine someday, some midget will have a rant at some poor defender somewhere because he didn't get healed and the poor defender doesn't know shift 1-8 selects players.

Please think of the potential reverse-midget discrimination.

With all that said, I see no reason why someone can't make a flying tinkerbell fairy if they want. We have the sparkle aura and hover/flight.

I've got a character of minimum height and the fun wears thin after a while. When you're in a big crowd you can't see anything except knees. On many maps there are low walls that a regular size character can easily see over, but my wee blue man has to hover or fly to see what's going on.

You can pull the camera back, but the view point is still stuck three feet off the floor. An even smaller character would be a bear to play. If the devs allowed this they'd get hundreds of complaints from players who find it impossible to actually play a character of this height, and telling them to pony up ten bucks for the science booster pack would not go over well.

If your height is going to cause issues with play it will be obvious well before a reroll seems unreasonable.

If they made adjustments, that would just change the size of the biggest and littlest characters. Many characters select biggest possible and smallest posible. The current range for 4" to 8" is quite wide with the smallest being smaller than one leg of the largest. Giving quite a range to the size.

Given that an average NPC weighed 150 lbs, Characters range from 50 lbs (4" male, thin) to a ton (8" huge, heavy). Plenty enough range while staying human form.

As for size change, I bought the science booster, so I can "grow". My Wolfboy transform from a thin 4.5" boy to and 6" huge Wolf. and My brute has three sizes, 6" normal male, 6.5" huge male, and 8" huge male, all dressed the same.
