Slowing down SB and SS

I'm not the best at navigating, say, small blue caves at 90 mph. I ocassionally like to have invisibility with the ability to attack, so running SS plus a stealth happens sometimes.

And SB makes me look like a fool. Who would turn down SB? Some do, but I'd rather smash into walls. As long as I'm targeted I'll turn the correct direction when firing or when the F button is pressed.

But what I'd like is something like..

/bind G "+forward 30%"

Or something like that.

Is there a way to dial down so you aren't always going the maximum speed?

Unfortunately no. No way to slow down unless you find some enemy that can debuff your speed.

Technically walk will... but not ideal for combat. You can also just tap the movement key repeatedly to go a bit slower. Neither is ideal though.

Two techniques:

1) Get Hover. Speed boosted Hover is pretty nice. I use Hover with my Kins while Siphon Speed is active, and toggle it off when SS wears off.

2) Technique. In a confined space you can't press and hold the movement key, nor can you "run". I just tap W to move forward in the caves.

Both of these, especially 'tapping' the forward key, instead of holding it down.

OP, try stone armor and problem solved. ^.^

I'd love some stone armor on my controller.

I wonder if I could program something into my G11 keyboard to cycle keypresses rapidly. If so, I'd hopefully not run into the minimum keypress duration to activate the movement.

Sure, I can tap it myself, and do, but if I can do this, it will benefit in the long run.

Problem not solved. [Rooted] and [Granite Armor], the two powers in Stone Armor which slow you down, are resistable slow effects. Speed Boost grants 175% slow resistance, which negates the slow from Granite/Rooted entirely. Then SB adds 50% speed on top of that.

ooh... thanks for the info! *scrabbles to get a two-boxed stone armor and kinetics something going*

Stealth has no effect on Siphon Speed, so I'm doing the tappity-tap-tap method.

In other news, Jingle Jet has the most massive slowdown in combat. I didn't jot down numbers but it is approximately zero.

I have a Stone/Energy - Dark/Dark combo and a Stone/Stone - Kin/Rad combo that I run dual boxed, and the Stone/Stone has a far easier time with movement and endurance. Of course, the dark/dark adds a lot in terms of survivability.

I've always been a strong Follow user. It sticks me to friends and enemies alike. So even on melees with capped move speed, I always go right to the enemy I want to attack and no farther.

Failing that, Hover works wonders.

What about using Ninja Run instead of Superspeed. NR is fast but not as fast.

NR is suppressed by stealth, but not combat, and lacks the stealth component of SS.

NR is good for keeping up with others in the offices and blue tunnels out there, but with it and stealth turned on the end drains pretty fast. That said, when trying to move quickly in a map, my new toon keeps stealth on due to it's long recharge. Went with a +Stealth IO rather than SS.

no stealth component

Huh?

Suppressed by stealth? I may have just woken up, but what's that mean? And not combat? NR is suppressed by combat.

The person is getting it backwards

Combat suppresses it (thus, it IS a travel power ) but currently it is not slowed by Stealth, the pool power.

The Jingle Jet lasts only 30 days real time though. Fortunately, you can pull a Captain Castillo and wear a Raptor Pack indoors. The Raptor Pack has the exact same slowdown as the Jingle Jet. On my lowly level 17 Blaster I just tested it on, both the Jingle Jet and the Raptor Pack suppressed down to 4.35 mph.

That is a much more sensible alternative than using up a power selection just to fit in Hover.

The -5 mph that Stealth puts on running, but not jumping, effects Ninja Run. Not it's jumping, but that's not so useful in the blue tunnels.

Combat doensn't slow Ninja Run. You can smack someone and run at the same speed before and after...can't you? I keep NR on if the toon can handle the endurance drain and I think I move the same. You've got me doubting myself.

In combat, 4 mph = 0 mph.

On most of my Kinetics I picked up Hover which serves to slow you down to a nice sprint when Speed Boosted/Siphoned. If you expect to be speed boosted often and really want to slow down, that is the way to go.

As for other solutions, can't say that there's that much out there.

It suppresses in combat. I use NR exclusively on two toons currently, and use it intermittently on several others. You definitely slow after attacking with NR.

Just turn on NR, run past a foe and hit them, and watch the few seconds of slow movement that follow before it picks back up.

Its just not quite as drastic a change in speed since Ninja Run doesn't boost running speed as much as Speed Boost or Super Speed.

Especially since Speed Boost does not suppress from combat. Which part of is the point being made.
