doms in pvp

I've heard rumors that if you get some crazy amount of recharge it's still possible to perma dom in pvp. This true or just rumor? (if so what's the recharge number)

Also would mind/fire be decent in pvp? Last time I did any pvp was pre-i13, and mids seems to be woefully lacking on accurate pvp info.

I think its still possible. I never tried.
Yes mind/fire are good, but i think they are too common. Ive seen a lot of good dom builds like mind/energy, mind/elec, fire/energy, fire/elec, fire/fire, grav/elec, grv/energy, plant/fire i think theres more. Oh earth/energy. My favorite would be a firw/ice if ice was still good

It is possible to do, a build that can maintain permadom without hasten in pve would be able to do it in pvp with hasten. I don't play a dom, but because of the mez protection to resistance change, I think that to get those levels of recharge would require a sacrifice of nearly every other important pvp stat. Getting 120% or so recharge isn't worth the loss of +hp, +damage, etc.

I think more experienced pvpers/doms would agree.

yeah barriers right. youre not gonna get anymore dmg like before nor that much more mezz out out domination. All you get is KB protection and a sec off of a mezz put on you, which can be mostly remedied by KB res IOs and acro. Also at the max 400% recharge, dom will only perma 3 or 4 times then you lose it due to DR.

And mind/fire is still the standard for doms in PvP. Its high burst DPS, well rounded disruption, and 30 sec fiery embrace makes it on par with most blasters in most situations.

It's possible but not worth it. Shoot for 70% recharge. Besides, domination isn't as powerful in pvp as it is in pve. It's a free end bar refiller basically.

And if you want to be like everyone else, roll a mind/fire, cause everyone has one of those.

I had a Mind/Psi that I had spec'd for PvP recently. Had perma dom without Hasten that I used to use for MoLRSF now that I saw this I kinda wish I tested it before I respeced.

i have quite a few dom players in my sg that do pretty well. fire/fire is one that has some nice DoT. i kno a grav/energy that does well and a plant/fire. i kno a ice/psy dom that good too. mind is good. its just not my favorite.

rlly plant/fire? i honestly see no benefits of plants except maybe for creepers for zone..the friggin hold takes like 2 sec to cast... EPIC FAIL!!!

X/NRG = WIN!!! <-----but slightly less
MIND/NRG = SUPER WIN!!!!!

Fire/Nrg > Mind/Nrg.

Guys stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Fotms are fotms for a reason. Mind/fire > all. After that pretty much any combo of fire/ mind/ grav/ and /fire /elec /nrg is usable.

Plant/ Ice Dom = I WIN BUTTON!!

I made a mind earth assualt dom than does pretty well in rv...but that was to make a different dom..my mind fire is still better :P

Mind/ Fire/Scorpian is pretty much the jack of all trades. Insane dmg, mez, TK (easy win), -res, -def, Placate proc (mezmerize), confuse, 30 second BU (fiery Embrace), and PFF. It's pretty much the only type of dom your going to see in PD doing duels.Out of all the mind/fire's i fought here is my list for top 5:

1.)Musey
2.)Poned (i know everybody hates her, but you cant deny she is pretty good.)
3.)Rick
4.)Barrier
5.)Mage

I've been noticing a mind/thorns hanging out in RV doing pretty good.

i beat rick's mind/fire on a fire/elec with no kb protection.

I've only dueled 4 people on mine, plz take me off till i practice some >.>

As good as Poison Ray is... if i had to pull out that ******* mace one more time i was going to scream. Swapped into Leviathan Mastery last night.
