*deadpan stare* I'm not an idiot, thank you very much.

Perhaps one is heroes and the other is villains? (one with the scratch card and the other without) I've never seen either CE sets, so I would not know.

That's exactly where mine was. I suppose there was more than one "version". lol

I have both the european and american versions of this and for me the euro pack was a scratch card and the american pack was on the disk cover or manual I can't remember exactly.

Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.

I got the hero collectors edition at big lots, last one left at that store, over a year ago I think. The code was scratched off already when I opened the box.

But, I contacted customer service and they said it was fine to use - I did so - and it worked fine...

See? Now that was informative.

Aggelakis: I wasn't calling you an idiot. I just wondered if you did this thing that human beings sometimes do called making a simple mistake. My error entirely.

I really want to get Slide on some of my characters, but I doubt I ever will. If only they would offer it as a purchasable code on the website....

The reason it's the same is because the Hero Gear Kit IS CoH CE. Specifically, the leftover ones. And NCSoft has been out of Hero Gear Kits for some time now.

I picked mine up from Big Lots for $10 a little less than a year ago. There were two other copied when I bought mine, but they were gone a week later. Being only $10, and the Collector's Edition (Cape, Clix Figure) is what got me into my first and so far only MMO.

Its possible to still find it in closeout stores & markdown bins, but it's hit-and-miss, heavy on the miss. It's still on Amazon, and a couple of stores on Ebay, but it'll likely cost for a new copy.

I've heard tell that some look down on the Power Slide, calling it a "noob scooter" or somesuch. Though the only comment I have gotten has been very positive about it. Has anybody who has the PS gotten looked down on for using it?

NCSoft, Please reconsider your decision to close down CoH. It has an extremely loyal following and enjoys a great amount of free support from the larger community.

...nnnno? Hero Gear Kits were sold at Hero Con this year (and last year). They were not the CoH Collector's DVD box, but a bag of goodies, leftovers from when they removed them from the website for purchase.

Thanks. That was the link I was just about to post. In fact, I'm still on my month of time included with my Hero Gear purchase.

I've searched every Big Lots from here to Florida and have yet to find one copy of it. I need two, one for me, one for Anasthesia.

Well, Amazon.com has the COH DVD Collector's in stock... but they want $99 per copy. Other than happening to luck into finding an unopened copy in a bargain bin somewhere that may be your only option.

COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes

Also, a lot of people still think that the code merger rendered the CoV codes inactive as opposed as an alternative source, so they think the collectors edition is only worth the contents of the box, if that.

What were the contents of the CoV Collector's Edition box? Did it come with a Heroclix of Lord Recluse?

CoV Collector's comes with seven HeroClix, including Lord Recluse which was exclusive to CoV CE. There's an art book, some CoH CCG cards, and a two-sided poster (heroes vs villains, and a map of the Rogue Isles).

In-game, it also gives an Arachnos chest symbol (which is visually different from the vet reward Arachnos symbol), and an Arachnos cape.

Those are all scumbag scammers who are trying to gouge unsuspecting gamers on 100% useless used copies.
To be fair, there might be someone out there who wants to buy it for the physical swag that they came with--the figures, maps, etc. You're right in that they should make it clear if the serial number has been used, but by virtue of the fact that its a "used" copy, I would assume that by default, and I wouldn't necessarily call them scumbag scammers--convenient omissionists at best.

If they explicitly represent that the code isn't used, either in the product description or in direct correspondence, and it in fact has, then that would make them scumbag scammers.
