Portal Jocky badge questions!

I want to start working on it, but Wiki list all the AV's needed. My question is, can I do the missions and defeat them as Elite Bosses, instead of AV's?

Also one more question I have heard of people createing AE missions that have the AV's needed for this, does killing a AV in AE count toward the acolade too?

To expand on DumpleBerry's dead on accurate post...

EB's count just fine towards Portal Jockey. Which is nice when you're solo or can't find a team to take down the AV's. Just remember that Anti-Matter only shows up in the 40-45 arc from Tina Macintyre and even then only the second encounter with him counts. And that is in the last mission of the arc. There is another Anti-Matter mish from her that has Anti in it and is a stand alone mish, but you can't get that through Ouro.

Nothing defeated in AE counts towards any non-AE badge. So no creating a map with nothing but Outcast bosses and getting Weatherman/Weatherwoman badge villainside, not going to happen. You can't even earn inf or damage taken badges in AE.

...maybe someday.

Hi,

and please please make a list of the A/V's needed and tick them off as you defeat them. It makes it so much easier to keep track!

And remember that one of the A/V's (a Female I know, but sorry I am not able to put my finger on that exact name info from this PC) appears in one of the arc missions ie there are two A/V's in one mish, but is not mentioned as a mission objective and can be easily overlooked.

That means redoing the arc to get to that mish again.

Have fun, it feels real nice when you down the last one and the reward message flashes up

Cheers

Actually, IIRC, the 3 missions that have 2 AVs in them are all "Defeat All" anyway, so you can't miss the AVs in there unless you are not in the mission when they are killed. Just make sure everybody on your team is inside the mission before you start fighting, because typically one of the AVs is right around the corner when you enter.

You might be thinking of Black Swan, who appears in the "Rescue the prisoner" mission about 2/3s the way through the arc. She is not listed as an objective, and if you ghost the mission and save the prisoner first, the mission will end. Most people recommend getting the AV before even looking for the prisoner, because even though you can remain inside the mission after it's over.. if you die during the AV fight, you wont be able to get back from the hospital/base and you may get yourself stuck outside the mission without credit for that AV, and you'd have to do the arc all over again.

Just to reconfirm the answer to the second question of the OP:

No nothing done in the AE missions affect any of your badge requirments (damage farming etc) except AE related ones (sych as Poor Impluse Control etc.)

IMO the game should show which bosses you still require, rather than a 5/10 style display. Perhaps this is asking too much...

To display the information for you would require that one badge to have a custom display. So, yes, I would say that is asking too much. It doesn't really seem practical to me.

If you are 50 already i would suggest running it through the pillar to skip some missions and you both will receive merits.

Four years now, and the only question not covered by the FAQ (which I developed and the specific badge FAQ was moved to paragonwiki.com by Sister_Leortha) is the AE question.

As to the checklist, I made a couple of those too:
Printable checklist created by Snow_Globe (Black and white version)

It is to my continual annoyance that even after four years that one badge literally dominates the number of badge questions people have.

Repeated requests for a proper (in game) way to determine which AVs are missing or needed have fallen on deaf ears. This applies to all the other multi-requirement badges (vandal, IO crafting badges, accolades). It is just that the Dimensional Warder is a key component to an accolade.

Among the possible solutions that have been proposed:
* Tech developed to show detailed stats on badge progress.
* A badge created for sub objectives (1 for each AV needed for Dimensional Warder, 1 for each component of Vandal, etc.)
* The now defunct stats website (City Vault) that was going to be created.

You can also use your character bio or self-note to keep track of your defeats.

Maybe you can. My bio space is prime real estate and it's always used up.

Just don't forget that the playernotes are global, so name them after your toon instead of your global, or your other characters will be referencing the wrong list.

Actually I find this to be unnecessary -- if you simply run the arc all the way through (either direct, or via Ouroboros where you also get merits for everyone on the team instead of just the arc owner!) you will get your chance at each Praetorian (more than one chance in many cases).

But it seems that most people DON'T do it that way. I see broadcasts all the time in PI "AV team LFM" where they are already part way through the arc. I've been on such teams where the turnover results in about 15-20 heroes being involved over the full length of the arc.

Sure, if someone has the arc, they don't need to worry about a list. (As long as they remember Black Swan.) Everyone else needs a list.

Ugh, i wish I had the foresight to do a list. I'm sitting at 12/13 right now, and its driving me crazy. I have a stinking suspicion the holdout is Malaise, seeing how much AVs I've beaten multiple times (Infernal, Black Swan, etc etc) but i can't recall beating him. :-(

The sure-fire way to get all the necessary AVs is to do the Tina McIntyre and Maria Jenkins arcs through Ouroboros. If you've reached fifty and have no idea which one you're missing, this will do it. As soon as you get the badge you can blow off the rest of the arc (but you'll miss out on the merits!).

Also: you can use the /playernote XXX command with XXX being any text. I use it to track how many of each type of recipe I've crafted when going for the crafting badges. So, you could create notes like /playernote "Rodion's AVs" or /playernote "Rodion's Crafting"

Again, I remind that the player notes are global, so if you want a checklist for each toon, you'd have to change the name of the heading for each toon, or simply include all your toons within that one heading... but that may be inconvenient for some people.

Otherwise.. you'll be pulling up your other character's list when you try to access it again.

Yes, you state the obvious. My rad got the badge at level 34 because there were always high level teams announcing that they were doing the arc and "needed a rad". But since they weren't generally doing the entire arc in one sitting, I (and they) needed to make a list.

You make my point for me.

Are you sure you didn't miss Anti-Matter? He's in a separate story arc from the rest.
