Branforth the Seer's letter.

While all of the Omega Team letters have been excellent, the most intriguing has got to be that of Branforth the Seer.
In it he talks of prophetic dreams, some are clear allusions to things that have happened (although in Branforth's future at the time of writing) and some seem have not come to pass.

I'm posting this so we can specifically discuss just this letter and try and work out what some of the dreams are.

It should be quoted in full - it makes it easier to refer back to

Quote:
I. I often dream of things unbidden, secrets reveal'd and secrets hidden,
Future, past, or not to be, I cannot say with certainty,
But in case I won't return, these visions from my letter learn,
And so before Omega leaves... I here entrust you with these dreams.

II. The glor'ous monarch will defend, his homeland to the bitter end,
An army built to soothe all doubts, but ripples show in upstart bouts,
Make you choice: red blue or gray, choose who to spurn and who obey,
You'd like to think there's no price dear, but the real world is not so clear.

III. I saw a mirror torn apart, thousand-spiraling work of art,
Behind a veil was once a fool, now its creation is its tool,
Suffered from a mighty fall, seeks again to consume all,
To face it our heroes prep, to win just watch that first step.

IV. A peaceful race comes from afar, a living message in a jar,
Find they cannot grow any more, into new flesh they are reborn,
Silence breaks by the gods thunder, coexistence cast asunder,
Now just one culture slow to change, not evil pure but surely strange.

V. Bloated life which has not a peer, gobbles all that mankind holds dear,
The hive will grow to rise and fall, all will battle the monster tall,
Across the way a mirror flow'r, has no such foes slow its devour,
Not placated with scraps to eat, it's rage shall spark leader's retreat.

VI. A thousand men with javelin, fight to compound their master's sin,
Darkly corrupt by twilight gaze, a secret deal to end our days.
Hero, villain, that time forgot, what do they know that we do not?
Side-by-side both sides excel, fighting for time-warped parallel.

VII. Time's river's course is left to run, till shattered by the million suns,
Eternal gear comes back to warn, all must beware the coming storm,
From ice and flame and tests of will, forgotten deeds one can fulfill,
Has he made strong by accident, those whose acts will despair prevent?

VIII. No purse to snatch or kid to nab, is fashioned by a novel lab,
But legends writ and lore create, as cohorts play and strangers rate,
Easy to praise; the virtues plain, of fighting just to entertain,
Endless time spent in sirens dens, yet who will save real citizens?

IX. The iron turns into crystal, their doomsday shall be missed til,
When a pair of fives arrives, power flows and power drives,
The spinning rod lives again, then destroyed in evil's den,
Mere prelude to what bright hell, comes from drinking of the well.

X. Man kills brother; sets into motion, a hundred lifetimes of commotion,
Meticulous manipulation, attempts to take this very nation,
Within mirrors glow he finds a pawn, his trick forces them to take us on,
We shall fall for his games no longer, that which challenges makes us stronger.

XI. The web is formed in careful craft, since fatal rescue on a raft,
Wraith- beast- hulk- thief- prepare for war, the mastermind will hide no more,
Let loose the tide of villain mix, heroes will gain their own new tricks,
And in the end; a world fini, unless the one stops destiny.

XII. Create new thing which heals or harms, accelerate the race of arms,
A million more to buy and trade, the inventors must all be paid,
A flood of brains rain in the town, but evil lurks to bring all down,
The helmed one strikes with draining web, the war comes to a crucial head.

XIII. You may have seen all that I say, or await it another day,
Of many things I have not dreamt, events the gods have not yet sent,
And do forgive this awful curse, the fates decree I write in verse,
Wish I were there to interpret, but battle calls and must be met.

Seems to me that it's the issues that have been released up until I13.

My story arcs: #2370- Noah Reborn, #18672- The Clockwork War, #31490- Easy Money

Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." What does that make an MMO?

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

Yeah, they are all seem fairly obvious

The last part of this one puzzled me:

Quote:
Bloated life which has not a peer, gobbles all that mankind holds dear, The hive will grow to rise and fall, all will battle the monster tall, Across the way a mirror flow'r, has no such foes slow its devour, Not placated with scraps to eat, it's rage shall spark leader's retreat.
Til i remembered what we know of the praetorian Hami.

This could be either Hamidon or Rularuu. The case for Hamidon is that he leads the Devouring Earth, he grows, gets destroyed then regrows constantly, it's bloated (aka, a big bit of jelly) and mentions of a hive. Players regularly retreat from him as well
The case for Rularuu is that he eats dimensions it seems, he has no peer, being a god-like being, comes from a "mirror" (which seems to be a codeword for alternate realities in the letter). He's also the tallest enemy in the game (if he ever gets put in proper). It also has an aspect of rage.

A clear reference to Cimerora?

Another clear one talking about Ouroboros.

Quote:

I think this is a reference to Nemesis, not sure about killing his brother but the rest seems to be very Nemesis-y. Meticulous manipulation, trying to take over the US, he tricked the Rikti to attack and now we all see his Nemesis plots

This seems to be a reference to Arachnos, specifically the "Destined Ones" storyline.

That's all I can work out for sure, there are a few that I have ideas for but can't place together and I guess some are in the future and havn't even been hinted at yet. Anyway, discuss!

Edit: Or what Lady Sadako said.

Sadako got it in one. Pretty obvious stuff.

If that section does refer to Rularuu, then this is kind of promising. Will we finally get to confront him?

This one amuses me just because it's an obvious jab at the time between I14 and I16 when a large majority of players were doing nothing but AE .

Reichsman imprisoned (iron turns into crystal) then released with the return of the Fifth Column

I believe there is more to this one than simply Reichsman.

First it addresses the tragedy of Reichmans rise and fall, but THEN says that this is nothing compared to what WILL come from the Well of Furies. Currently, if I'm correct, we know of 5 entitys effected by the Well.

Statesman, Recluse, Imperious, Tyrant, and Reichsman.
(Im not too educated in the various alternates of States but I think Im right)

This would indicate 3 alternate realties; Imperious', Reichsman's, and Tyrants.
If history goes normally until the Well of Furies, then that would also indicate a Recluse variant of each reality.(Though we have been told that Recluse is dead in Praetoria.)

So in all there are 3 entites that have not been dealt with.
Tyrant, Recluse from Imperious' reality, and Recluse from Reichsman Reality.

(Like I said Im really uneducated when it comes States alternates. So I'm not even sure that Reichsman and Imperious are variants of States, but I got that idea somewhere, so I went with it.)

Imperious is a past version of Statesman. Reichsman and Tyrant are alternate dimension version from present day. Recluse is another man entirely.

Tyrant didn't kill Recluse.
He devoured him...maybe he sees Hamidon as a rival?

Stheno and Trapdoor also visited the Well. Stheno thousands of years ago, and Trapdoor is a mystery.

Imperious can be said to be a different man than Statesman. They might be the same soul reincarnated, or some echo of fate, but they are clearly different mortal bodies though very similar in attitude.

The similarity in power is because the Well of the Furies bonds a mortal with a deity and they both bonded to the same one. All who bond with that deity will theoretically have the same (or very similar) powers. There is some evidence that the deity also influences personality. But as the various Statesmen show, the effect is clearly not one of the deity taking over the host body (ala the angels from Supernatural). Certainly all of them become leaders and very headstrong.

Also, we know that the last time the Well of the Furies was opened was the golden age of greece. We know at least Imperious drank from it at that time. Stheno drank either then or earlier. We have no idea who else survived with Stheno into the modern age. Or who might have been around the time before that (if there was one).

Other things to consider: There is theoretically a Well of the Furies on Rikti earth. They had magic on their world and destroyed all of it. But there may be a Well, or may have been.

I know Recluse is another man entirely. In order for an alternate reality to be created, there has to be interference from an outside source(time travel, parallel dimensions, ect.)
The question is,WHEN was the interference, if it was before Recluse and States drank from the well, then history might have changed in such a way so that Recluse or States may have never drank from it.

I was just trying to identify any entity that may have been affected by the Well.

0-o did'nt know about Stheno! That explains alot.

I thought Trapdoor was an experiment to recreate the effects of the Well using some of the water taken from the Well when Recluse drank from it.

Maybe I just imagined that...

Yes. Operative Grillo has a short arc dealing with Trapdoor. All of Operative Grillo's arcs deal, at least indirectly, with The Well of the Furies in one way or another.
