Escalation

It starts with an encounter with a minor super villainess. But, what happens when things escalate?

Sometimes we scientists get a bad rap. We almost always fly off the handle and begin to plot how to dominate the world. Not that I would ever do that, but I hear it's the thing to do sometimes when you're bored. In FemFury's arc, "Escalation", Dr. Lashion is a super villain who can jump back and forth between bodies. Sounds pretty handy, I'd think. She'll be your antagonist for this story, which is a great exploration in earning yourself a nemesis. It starts simple, but then... escalates to something much more intense. Ho ho! I made a pun!

Escalation is a terrific arc with a solid story that will make you feel heroic, going from the start of having a nemesis right to the very end, while also making it personal and specific to your own hero. The gameplay is balanced and the enemies are enjoyable to fight, yet not too difficult. You'll fight Dr. Lashion multiple times, but FemFury has done a good job of not making it turn into a chore - each time you fight her is unique and interesting.

So give this arc a try! It's the latest addition to our Dev Choice gallery. Congratulations FemFury!

I was very impressed with this arc and loved how the brilliant body jumping idea was incorporated into the story. Congratulations to FemFury.

I loved this arc, it was great fun and a nice challenge. This is the perfect type of arc to get people back into AE but there is a big problem with risk vs reward. I ran this on my 50 Scrapper at +4 X4 and only got 1420 tickets for the whole arc ( not worth it ) and only got 3 tickets for 54 minions and 6 for LT's and never got any for bosses.

So I ran it again for drops and got nothing but garbage, now don't get me wrong I reported the comm officer missions and the Hamidon ones because the risk was minimal with tons and tons of reward but now with the nerf bat I think hitting AE way to hard you have great risk with very little reward.

I think its great that Dr Aeon is trying to get people back into AE ( I loved it ) but untill the risk vs reward is looked at again I don't see it happening.

Awesome arc and I highly recommend it!

Holy crap! Congrats man! This has been sitting on my to-play list for awhile, another victim of rampant procrastination. To put it simply, that will have to change.

Wow. Ever since I found out, I've just been randomly smiling every so often.

First, my apologies to everyone for my absence of reply for so long.
I was off on Thanksgiving vacation for the whole week when "Escalation" was made Dev's Choice, and had almost no internet time (was busy running 5 days straight of table-top pen-and-paper RPGs as a GM). Then, a lot of work was waiting for me when I got home.

Thanks to everyone who's left their congratulations in this thread, and elsewhere.

And I want to take a quick moment to just emphasize just how incredibly supportive and helpful the Architect community is in City of Heroes. Just thinking of all the people I have to thank for helping me make Escalation a better arc, and then promote it so others could play and enjoy.

Pardon me while I get all "Academy Awards" here...

Thanks to:
-Wrong Number for tipping me off to the MA Arc Finder global channel, where I got a lot of plays and feedback

-Chesire Cat for some very early-on encouraging words about my arcs, as we played each other's arcs in the early days of hectic MA activity.

-PoliceWoman, for reviewing Escalation and giving it 4-stars at first. She gave lots of great proof-reading and comments that knocked loose ideas in my head on how to make it a better arc. Prompted my first really major revision. Felt good to get the upgrade to 5 stars from her after those changes.

-Venture for his review of Escalation. He gave it 5 stars, which was great exposure. He also pointed out a few nits which I was able to fix eventually with some minor tweaks.

-Everyone who posted in the forum thread for the arc, sharing their thoughts. Particularly, GlaziusF for some comments that really make me think and mull over what I needed to focus on with the arc. And Eva Destruction, for some nice supportive posts.

We've got a pretty darn good support community of reviewers, forum commenters, and feedback-givers. And I guess it's appropriate for the arc that got Dev's Choice on Thanksgiving week to prompt a big round of giving thanks.

Now, time to pay it forward, I should go out and find some arcs to give feedback to myself. Help the next guy or gal in making their arc improve so they can get a DevChoice.

After I finish grinning like an idiot...
