Ha! And also, your profile says you were born in Manila. My wife is from Pangasinan.

If you ever want to see Maiden Canada or her twin brother Northernguard, let me know. I'm also on Liberty and can meet you there.

Nah that's the Draw the World together paper, as David's drawn on it I'll guess it's from Omega Sektor, and by the looks of it I'd hazard a guess at it being Crimson Archer.

Draw the World Together is a charity run to raise money for disadvantaged kids, by providing great artwork of whatever you fancy. When NCSoft still did European shows they'd hire them to do some fantastic pics of our characters. It's one of the parts I miss about the shows nowadays, DTWT are still going strong though, and that's some amazing artwork from David...as is usual

I just wanna lose control,
And even if it takes a lifetime, to learn:
I'll learn!

Good eye. That is indeed the one, the only, Crimson Archer.

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

Can't get you to do sketches outside of a convention, can I? I don't get to many cons in the year.

I think I've got all the art from that event, and eventually I'll get them all up on this thread, but at the moment I'm quite busy with work and baby care duties. Coming soon though, I promise!

Dave.

I am deeply hurt, and scared emotionally in that not only did you not look into my bacon link, but you also have not posted the commission you did for me of Viceroyalty waaaaayyyy back in 05(?) I think it was. Granted it's not art done at one of the conventions but it's a great piece.

Oh, don't worry. It's comin'. Plan is to start a separate 'David's Art Thread' for the more polished art (like Viceroyalty). But I figured I'd finish off the sketches first, and there're about 15 more of those at least with more trickling in every week.

Been a little slow with the uploads this week, thanks to a freelance thing I'm wrapping up now.

Anyway, stay tuned!

This is awesome as usual. Say you were taking commissions, how much would one of these busts cost outside a convention? I've never been able to go to one, as much as I'd want to.

Whenever I'm at a convention, I'm happy to draw these for you guys completely gratis. It's just something I like to do, and that's one of the rare instances when I've got the time to do them.

These days, there's not a lot of time for commissions outside of cons unfortunately, but since you asked about pricing: I used to charge $10-20 at conventions when I was working my own booth in Artists' Alley. As time went on and people asked for more and more elaborate pieces (full figure, multiple figures, large paper), the price scaled to a max of $100, but generally the average sketch stayed right in that $10-20 sweet spot. Whenever I did a commission at home and then mailed it to a client, I'd usually draw a half figure or something extra and call it $40 (plus shipping).

A lot of professional friends suggested that I might be undercharging, but I don't think so. I was trying to build a name in the comic industry, and I figured that reasonably-priced color sketches would be a way to stand out in the crowd.

I really enjoy the line work and quick, yet eye catching, coloring you achieve with your markers.

Seeing your work reminds me why I miss going to comic cons as much as I used to. I am so missing out on all the new cool stuff!
