Fed up wtih forum login!

Despite the fact that these boards have been released for months now, there is still issues be it with the actual code involved in the login script or caching issues with the browser. I shouldnt have to tweek my settings for one webpage to work when all other login scripts do just fine. (unless ofcourse you can give me a valid reason to change my settings (ie security).

I've used the boards on both a mac for the past year with safari updated to the latest versions; and now im using firefox on a normal PC and still no difference which makes me believe its an issue with server side. (I'd test on IE but well it sucks and wouldnt even load up the homepage without crashing on me -.-)

to the chase:

When loging in i cannot successfully log in even when all my details are correct because the page essentially resets before redirecting to the page i was on before. This happens regardless of where i am and only seams to remove itself when i tick "Remember me" which i should have to do just to get the bloody forum to log me in. Otherwise change the tick box to say do you wish to actually log in.

Sorry for the giant rant, but im fed up having to work around these ****** forums. Normally i was able to log in using the new post log in and not the one along the top but that apparently doesnt work no more either which is why i've finally cracked.

What URL are you using?

The uk. one has never worked correctly for me, it seems to forget / lose my session cookie on a per page basis. The boards.cityofheroes.com URL works properly for me however.

I'm personally not having a problem logging in or staying logged in. Back in this thread they discovered that CoolIris was preventing some people from staying logged in.

I'm using .com atm Don't know what Cooliris is if its an add-on i dont have any add-on's for firefox whatsoever because i only just installed firefox.

If i can get IE working i'll check for issues with it and see if i can find a solution but i assumed that cross OS and browser similarities proved it wasn't just my apparently lack of luck :/

Edit: Just managed to get IE up and running same issue, apparently "logs in", redirects and im not logged in. When checking "Remember me" it works.

It's also happened back home in belfast and now here in stafford so router, connection issues dont seem to be a viable excuse.

I've been having the same issues since... well, forever. I'll deactivate CoolIris tonight to see if that helps. What I HAVE been doing is using Google Chrome at work. I occasionally have issues with logging in, but not to "re-log in every page change" ordeal I have in Firefox.

See i dont have any issues when im logged in and the box is ticked for Stay logged in. But i dont want to have to stay logged in just to use a forum for security reasons. I shouldn't be forced to either due to sloppy coding either!

Same problem here. I use a Mac, Safari browser, domain is http://board.cityofheroes.com Every day, it forgets that I'm logged in.

When this happened to me, I found that the problem was with my browser. For some reason it decided to add the forums to the list of sites it blocks cookies from (happened after an update.)

This is most definitely a cookie issue. This has to do with security settings. I would recommend going through those settings and change them one by one until you find the culprit.

Maybe if we knew what settings are currently in place for some of the people having an issue, we could find a solution to the issue. I can't say I'll know the answer, but posting your security settings could hopefully yield some results. Some of you may have securities high enough to cause an issue, and they may not necessarily be needed that high when coupled with security software etc.

We'll see....

This issue is annoying, especially as it's often when in the middle of posting that the forums suddenly forget that I'm logged in and then it might take three tries before it finally accepts my login/password and lets me back in.

Ive had the issue of the forums not keeping me logged in since the day the new forums have hit. Nothing other then that has changed and I always have to redo my login upon coming to the site, heck sometimes I dont even close my browser but do the Cox Page and will have to put them back in again. Rather annoying for sure, figued I wasnt the only one but hadnt seen anyting else posted. For the record Im using XP Pro/SP3 with Opera and IE 8(dont really use it but has same problem as Opera. Not sure if this is exactly what everyone else is describing but its the problem Im facing lol...

Just like to point out that its not for clicking to "stay logged in", although ironically it doesnt work either. The issues actually with the log in itself it doesnt let me log in at all unless the box is ticked (and it doesnt remember me either way).

The issue is when i enter my details and select log in it redirects to the logged in page then redirects me as if i was logged in.. but im not and its a never ending cycle. It only finally logs in when i select "remember me". :/

See i assumed that too but across several computers i just found it strange
