Whats the most popular origin in the game?
The most are mutants. Mutants are more interesting than most other origins and have a almost realistic view about alot of things than the any other. Followed by science and tech. then naturals then finally magic.

Looking at myself, I tend to go either Natural of Magic.
AE has made any SO easily sought, but when you need to rely on arbiters and such, it becomes easier to use those two.
Natural because the names make sense (seriously, I *hate* the names attached to Science and Tech) and Magic because.. well to be honest that is a case of laziness..
When I need to go buy SO's from 30-ish up, I tend to do so in RWZ, GV or Cim and Magic Origin always tops the humongous list of SO's in those stores. I hate scrolling
I've never used Science or Mutant.
I ignore the Mutant origin completely because I feel that it is redundant.
Branching Paragon Police Department Epic Archetype, please!
The majority of my toons have been technology.
But my current one is magic.
But I defiantly have an affinity to tech.
Tech is best becaus taser dart looks hella cool. MAgic + Mutant thrown weapons looks so bad I'm embarred to be seen with them.
I try to play a variety of origins and it's almost even among the five except that I have twice as many Naturals as any other type because of Peacebringers and VEATS being forced into that category. It is worth noting that Naturals seem to get the most benefit from the Black Wand/Nemesis Staff veteran powers.
There USED to be a fan website I think on the Titan Network where people could register their characters, and you could actually SORT the results by popularity and commonality.
I wonder whatever happened to that database? |
Origin Count
Natural 8,419
Magic 8,173
Mutation 6,117
Technology 4,770
Science 4,504
Certain Stats became available again a week or so ago.
NB obviously the pool of data is self-selecting etc etc usual caveats apply.

The last official word we got was the Fourth Anniversary, which Mutant was the most popular at the time.

I tend to prefer Magic, followed by Natural. Almost all my characters are one or the other.
...Save for my main, which is Science. I'm still not quite sure how that happened.
I don't think I have any Mutant or Tech characters anymore, actually, which is something of a shame. And besides my main, I don't have any other Sciences, either.
Natural, followed by Tech and Science. Only one Mutant and two Magic characters.

Form a lot of teams, not afraid of using Search to check on unteamed people. With supersidekicking, that's greatly expanded the number of people you can "safely" contact to join the team (ie, not having to worry about sk / exemp spots).
Unfortunately, that also means that almost the entire server is now eligible to join, so I either use zone or origin (depending on my mood) to narrow the searches down to 50 people or less per search (/search will only display a max of 50 people at a time).
At least on Victory, Magic is by far the most common origin, usually to the point of 33-50% of the server pop.
Myself, I always go tech or natural for maximum Nemesis staff damage.

Rock, rock on Hamster.
I honestly use natural for most of my 'magical' stuff too, like my demonesque toons. I just claim they 'are from a different planet inhabited by demon-like people". Which would easily put them into the "Natural" bracket, not "Magic", as long as they don't get their powers from artifacts or something.
