Hello everybody,

Was just wondering what the nomenclature of both the folder "pigg" and file extension ".pigg" stands for?

My guess is "Paragon InGame Graphics" but purely speculation!

Any ideas?

Cheers

PS: I also wonder why the folder with all the EULA's in is called "Cider"?

Well, the "Graphic" part would not be completely correct, since the pigg files contain sound, text and many other things other than just graphic files.

From the Paragon Wiki entry: "The extensible file format is used to create virtual drives for a software program."

I have no clue beyond that.

One sees the phrase "platform independent gaming" thrown around a good bit on the Interwebs these days, but given that CoH isn't platform independent, it doesn't seem that likely to be connected.

Perhaps it really means Pigg, as in a pig bucket, where all the scraps get thrown in together?

TransGaming creates a software called Cider, and they're the third-party responsible for making CoH playable on Macs.

Yep, totally. Whoever creates the filetype names at Cryptic has a bizarre swine obsession.

The extra g in "pig" is for gamingg..

That 'g', however, is just a typo.

Just because City of Heroes isn't platform independent doesn't mean the data in the file can't be. Not sure who developed the file extension, but if it is cryptic or nc soft, either could use the same file extension for other platforms.
