Caemgen's Commission Corner

First off, each of his pieces have been above and beyond what I expected. I pretty much bought in for single character pieces, backgrounds weren't even discussed... Yet each piece has been a full on masterpiece. To me, discussing which is the best is basically a discussion on what type of picture you prefer, or maybe which character...

Goblin Queen's is amazing in the sweep and the story it seems to suggest. You just know they're heading into combat or hunting someone down... And the details and personalities of each of the creatures are amazing. It would have been so easy to focus on GQ and then throw in some generic toadies but nope, the Hand made them each unique.

Caemgen's piece is almost inspirational... It gives that sense of rising up out of he'll or something, a plunging upwards to better things. I definitely get a "he's been through the wringer but came out better for it" type of vibe...

FenWolf's is all about one versus many. It's the lone individual going up against the masses. I love how she's leaping down from above as if she had been laying in wait, just waiting for the perfect moment to spring the trap! And the background... Perfect setting!

Alpha's is just the iconic image that Alpha seems so ripe for. Even as the enemy throws everything they have at him, Alpha stands tall and his bright blue and gold armor are visible amidst the chaos...

To me, they're all the best in their own way... And the sneak peek I've had of Gorm's suggests an awesome fight scene!

And one of the things I find amazing about the Hand's work is how he really seems to get the characters, gets what type of pose and setting and scene works for them... And almost seems to get CoH without playing it.

I can totally see those missles coming at Alpha to be from a Malta robot... The FenWolf scene looks as if he was familiar with a couple of the CoH zones and based the ruins on a screenshot... Throw in that the villians could easily be in Arachnos gear and I just love it...

And yeah, maybe he read the bio information I threw on the reference sheets, maybe he looked up arachnos for reference, whatever. Be it intuitive or through doing his research, it's working out awesomely

And here is a collected piece by Daimida from DeviantArt. They were commissioned to do 5 bust pieces but they decided to throw them all together to present at once. Once I get the individuals I think I'll try to put them together in a slightly different configuration but I do like them collage style.

And, a piece by The Foo I've had this for a bit but have been forgetting to share it. Fooster almost had someone drop out of his calendar so FenWolf was almost a replacement... Alas, she didn't make the cut Still, I got cheap art out of it!

Character story wise, as if you cared, this is probably from her first cloning - Sometime after she found out the clones wouldn't last forever though. Thus the ports in the head so she can upload her memories. Later incarnations never take off the helmet or else those moments will be lost to the future clones who take her place. I kind of picture her sending a message to the person who put a time limit on the clones survivability... A kind of "You think you beat me like that? Well 'Forget' You!"

There's also a naughty version which the non smut peddling Foo insisted on doing... But I won't be posting a link to that here!

I really like the expressions of several of them in the collage. One thing (well other than the usual other things like Caemgen's human nose and horns, Fenian's green lips... etc ) I was curious about though does Gorm have a 2nd suit with pink human skin that you gave the artist as a ref?

Liking the Foo's piece as well (nice perspective) but for those wondering err... that's not the universal symbol for peace.

Nope, no flesh colored second outfit for Gorm - there are a few blunders in Daimida's works... Gorm's horns should be white as bone as well, Cae's coloring is odd, etc but overall I think the plusses win over the minuses and I'm happy with them.

I'm specially happy with FenWolf, I think her helmet way cool...

If you haven't yet thrown The-Hand onto your DeviantArt watch, you are a fool! His latest (and unfortunately, almost last... at least in this batch) painting for me is below. This time we see Gorm Diabhal in action!

The bad thing about this series of commissions is that they make me realize how inadequate I am when it comes to describing how much I love them! Failing a greater grasp of the language, I'll just let the art speak for itself... Click The-Hand's ma,e above to ho to his page, or, I think, clicking the image will bring you to it's bigger sized version on his page...

That is Amazing! There's so much action captured in it, brilliant.

This clearly has some wicked theme-music going... Something like Cowboy Bebop. "Devil in my Face Blues"

Again, you really should go to NemafronSpain's page and check this out full sized!

And, thanks to our own Eddy Swan, the colorized version!

Ahh, i've been waiting to see this coloured as i'm doing a night time rooftop scene myself. This is slightly different though as it's moonlight lit, whereas in mine the moon is obscured and i've lit it from the city glow. Love the smoke from the pipes, love the green armour and love the fact he's engraved the artists sig into the brick. Grats on another great piece Caem.

That is incredible. It's not how I imagined it would be, daylight, more reds, but it's stunning as a night time picture. I like the choice of Fenian Wolf's dark sea green outfit.

Swanzy's colors are always amazing and this time is no different! I love how he takes the artist lines and is able to enhance them with his color without distracting from them. Plus it's also the little touches that he adds that really effects the look of his work. Check out the brickwork in the buildings in the background, the diffused lighting from the street through the smoke/smog, and his ability to add a ton of depth. His grasp of color is really awe inspiring! He is who inspired me to work on coloring in my spare time (I'm sure I'll NEVER be anywhere as close to this good but I still try). I think if your work can inspire others to action, that says book-loads about your talent!

Gratz on ANOTHER great piece in your collection Caem!

Yes he did engrave Carlos Gomez's signature into the brick but the question is can anyone spot the Swanzy Swan he signs his colors with?

How did I know you'd be the one to spot that dude

truth be told I forgot to add it to this version before it was uploaded, However the swan symbol is carved into the brick underneath carlos's signiture on the High res I sent Caemgen.

Crudmuffins, it's not in the smoke? Darn you CR for making me see things, in my defense it was late and my eyes were tired.

PlayWorkArt is having another battle special... This time he's got entrants lined up to battle one person from the other side - The general public gets to vote on who fights who.

First up is Caemgen! If you want to have input on who Caemgen battles go to the poll --> here <--

The artist himself is deciding who wins and loses (I believe?) based on his own whims but it'll be cool to see what the public thinks is a good matchup for Caemgen and, later, Daybreaker Alpha...

Poll is up for about 24 hours from when he put it up so vote fast if you care to vote!
