Caemgen's Commission Corner

There is definite similiarities... though purely coincidental.

Ok, grab bag time... I usually wait until I have full sets done before posting the images here but *shrug* I felt like updating where certain projects were and such so I'm doing a bit of housecleaning and figured I would post what I got.

First up is a Caemgen art by UndinceCG
Straight on, it's not the best Caemgen art ever but she did warn me she wasn't great with males. Despite that, it is a very interesting take on him and I still like the art very much.

Next up is an art from Aposcar
I think this came out very cool... Specially when you see it smaller. Enlarged/at full sized you see a couple lines which I think gives her a bit of an older appearance but at a smaller size I cannot find a thing wrong with this And I absolutely love the shamrock flair he added to it. I have a Caemgen and Alpha in the works from him, if he ever gets them done.

Now, for some coloring arts by our lovely and talented Eddy Swan

First up by Eddy is a couple colorings of line art by alt-territory. Eddy really ran with the original line art and rocked out a couple amazing pieces... I fully expect it to be a trio of amazing pieces but he's not done with Alpha yet

Also colored up by Eddy Swan is the second artwork I had done by NemafronSpain - Alpha's Omega. I absolutely LOVE how Eddy combined both the typical comic book art feel as well as the typical in game feel on this piece... Perhaps not as "flashy" as the coloring of the first Nema art but overall I must admit I like this one better. Familiarity with me and the game helped I'm sure, plus this is a darker piece, but I'm thinking I probably should have just went to Eddy in the first place

And to wrap up this grab bag, more art from "one of our own" - Bindweed aka Happy_Dan:
I just HAD to get some Bindweed arts and he is by no means disappointing me! The Fenian art is a bit delayed because he is first working on a model sheet for her so her solo pic is on the backburner until once that is done... Must say I am anxious to see the final two arts as these first two came out so awesome!

Oh, and as a bonus on "Grab Bag" day something a bit out of the norm for this thread... A little something from our very own ChristopherRobin!

For the curious - The "Not quite normal..." line was a tag line I used on my signature banner ages and ages ago. I'm shocked and suprised that CR remembered that. But it sill applies

Now the REAL joy of this particular commission will be in the using and not in the viewing but I'll have to wait to ramble on about that until after it actually physically arrives

That's two of my favoritestest Fenians right there. The Bindweeds are fantastic. And the Nema-Eddy is just not fair. Congratulations!

All great arts! I am so jealous! I really wanted to have CR build me a comp but I ran into a deal locally that I couldn't pass up and my "want-it-NAO" button was mashed!

Eddy's colors are amazing! I really love how very different he is able to make them. The alt-territory pieces look like they were painted on canvas yet the NemofronSpain piece looks straight out of a comic book.

seriously though, I'm loving what Eddy did with the Nema that I just may have to have him do the original as well... Hmmmmmm.

As for favorite Fenians, I have a lot but the Alt/Swan would definitely be up there in the top 5 somewhere...

The Caemgen box though, seems there's even more goodies to it than I knew of! CR posted another pic in his thread. . Can't wait til I lay my hands on that puppy!

I've really not been hiring out new works lately, mainly because I was going to wait until I had character sheets done for each character... But I'm pretty sure the lack of new arts is (mainly) going to continue for quite some time. I still have outstanding works with Ravenskar, Aposcar, ScottyShoemaker and one more with Bindweed/Happy=Dan which I expect will be completed and I will post them up when they come... There's a couple other artists who were paid but... Well, let's not hold our breath expecting those to be done.

Anyway, despite loving the game, I am also insanely annoyed by the amount of content which I find simply un-soloable. Yeah, yeah, yeah... Join a team, invite people to yours, ask for help... whatever. I generally like to solo. Why someone so anti-social is even on an MMo defies logic but *shrug* Point is, I like to solo and the fact there is so much I simply cannot do, cannot complete, cannot accomplish solo is driving me nutty... Yeah, I obsess about weird things...

Anyway, cause of this I'm going to have to give that other game an honest chance and see how that suits me. I honestly hate the look of it so I doubt it'll get much of a chance... But I'm also kind of holding out for that DC one... From what I've seen that promises to be solo friendly... so if it ever comes out and I find that it is... Well, I suppose right now I'm finding it a bit tough to invest monies into characters which may not translate over there so I'm kind of in a wait and see mode...


Anyway, not crying doom, not quitting... Just saying I'm holding off on new investment while I check out some options...

And the character sheet for Fenian by Bindweed is really good! I love the lines!!

Nice Fenian model sheet! Should be great coloured too. I always liked the utter unpredictability of your Fenian outfits, but I can imagine that can go two ways too easily.

Awww I always felt that thanks to the difficulty slider this was one of the most solo friendly MMOs around. I've always found that with a couple cheap inspirations almost all content is soloable (with the obvious exception of TFs and raids). That said, I wouldn't attempt to solo the endless list of EBs (scaled down AVs so they still have crazy resists) in Maria Jenkins arc, but I think it's probably doable. Which mission did you get hung up on?

Wow I really like that style Eddy chose for your trio... muted to the point it almost seems like faded page from a magazine left out in the sun. Nice effect.

I always thought this was the most solo-able MMO too... only tried a handful so far (including that other hero game) but maybe DCUO will be different.

Sidenote: I'm with Draggynn, with the difficulty sliders I haven't had trouble soloing much (barring a TF or some EB/AV's where you need a team minimum) content... if I do there are ways to tip the scales. Shivans, Nukes, Temp pets like the WarWolf or the Witch Amy from Croatoa (who has offense and also heals you) or just swallowing a few purples and a yellow. Oh and you can craft temp boosts in any base that has the right equipment too... or go to a crowded area and have someone hit you with Magic Fortune (it lasts 20 minutes) or Secondary Mutation and then have at it again or... etc. etc.

If you don't want a big team just let me know where and when and I got your back buddy. I'll bring a healer/buffer/controller in for some duo butt kicking action.

Soloing problems?

Been there, done that. Racked up the debt to go along with it.

If you ever need help, I have rerolled Mellissandria to be a empathic/psionic defender. Healing and she can kick butt as well. And I can always use the practice. Or, I have Warrior-Mage Luna who is kinetic/energy defender. Just let me know when and I'll show up to help if hubby isn't dragging me into SG activities online...

Also, temporary powers can help. If you're melee, grab a ranged recipe and start crafting or vice versa. Secondary Mutation you can put on yourself once you get the mutation pack. When all else fails, grab some of the really really large inspirations (and don't forget to bring a couple of wakies along. Also, the holiday inspirations are on sale at WW all year round..while random, they still could help.

Well I cannot honestly compare this game to other MMO's as I've really not played others. Obviously one can't expect each and every thing to be soloable and I'm generally cool with that but ocasionally the fact really burns my bum...

I'm nearing completion on my redside project and have found I am running out of contacts before new ones are available. I suppose if I was running in a group I would be getting the xp bonus and this wouldn't be an issue (blue side I've never wanted for contacts) but I have been finding this very annoying. Plus it seems like pretty much every mission in late game red side has an EB or two in it... But ok, whatever...

Anyway, so I was running some Orobouros stuff since I was out of contacts and the arc that really riled me up was Mender Silos' Trading Places arc...

I believe when I did this blue side I eventually had to give up because I just couldn't manage the Jade Spider on my own... (Actually, team couldn't manage the spider that one Friday night!) but yeah... On final mission of arc I take down Minx, Ms. Liberty, Numina, Malaise, Inferno, Synapse (twice), Citadel, Positron, Manticore and Sister Psyche... But then, enter Statesman.

Blah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I know he's like the signature character and the toughest of tough and stuff but egads! It seemed like no matter what I did, once I got him down to just 25% of hp left, he suddenly just started gaining xp and whomping me butt. Hell, wasted about 10 mil on inspiratipms to have a go and same darn results.

Anyway, I'm sure there are millions of people out there who have solo'd this mission asleep, without a single inspiration or temp power, and while making sweet love to a super model... *shrug* I'm more than happy to admit I'm not an elite player.


All in all, my main issue is that I believe any mission you can accept solo should be doable solo... And maybe this one is by decent players. Whatever. Like I said, I'm still a bit grouchy about the no smoking thing I have going on. And I must give props to red side for there being a whole heck of a lot less missions which have simultaneous glowies that must be clicked... I don't think I've run into that at all red side! Those missions REALLY piss me off.

Sp yeah... Whatever. I'm sure there is a part of the forums to rant on like this and that this isn't it... So [/RANT]

Thanks for the offers to help all Though when I get my stubborn on and want to finish solo there's little chance of me asking for assistance before throwing my comp out a window... which would then make such assistance a bit moot.

Redside has always been contact light, I think that is primarily because they implemented newpapers. They never expected anyone to stick with contacts. I always kinda assumed that 8 or so newpaper missions were considered a contact in each zone. <shrugs>

oh, and nice new arts.

Bah! I did the newspapers enough to get the mayhem missions but generally I find the newspaper (or radio) missions boring. I like storylines!!

That's actually a reason I like solo'ing as well - I like to read the stories in the arcs rather than just wait around while the time leader hits up the contact then rush blindly off behind them again and again. Yeah you can always read the recap afterwords, or check it out via paragonwiki or whatever but I prefer "living" it.

Heh... Well the mouse, keyboard and monitors are in the most danger. The comp itself should be ok seeing as how it's not in immediate arms reach.

I'm really loving this piece.

Latest Pieces...

First a piece by Aposcar. He has been very, very slow in getting the three pieces done but he HAS at least stayed in contact which, for the most part, makes me fine with the slowness... Anyway, here's the second of the three - Alpha! (Caemgen still to come... eventually.)

Also, here is a preliminary piece by MykeManila. This is the pencils of the Caemgen/RedFire piece I commissioned from him... Colors are still pending. This has been delayed quite a bit since he took some time away to learn more skills... And that time seems to have really paid off! I am loving how this came out...

There's a couple minor details that he promises to fix when he does the colors - Red's ears shouldn't be pointed and his tails should probably be showing given the pose... Still, awesome art methinks.

I've still got a couple other pieces pending with him and if they're all this good it seems like the delay was worth it to me

Okay I love how he did the pants with the fur showing though on Caem. Red looks cool about to go all Nova on that dude's butt!

The Alpha piece is way cool as well. I love the disipation of smoke around him from the energy released from his optic blast!
