stalkers and PvP
Currently, Elec Melee is the hot choice for offensive sets, due to how hard Thunderstrike is hitting right now. Most expect it to get nerfed, but that requires dev attention towards PvP, which is the CoH equivalent of a Bigfoot sighting. Spines and Energy Melee are also solid choices.
For secondaries, Willpower, Regen, and Ninjitsu are good choices. Avoid Dark Armor and /Elec though.
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict
heh WP was one i was thinkin of. its real solid for pve so i assumed it would be for pvp. i was thinkin about nin but im no fan of defense heavy sets, much more prefer resist sets.
i may use nin though for secondary cause its only on stalkers.
hows the redraw for spines?
i did ty nrg on a scrap, but didnt like the AoE that stalkers dont have :-)
what about BS and kat??

The redraw isn't that bad. Spines having Impale is nice for added ranged options, which is great for PvP. BS and Kat aren't so hot though.

yeah, that much about spines i had read. and with the -fly it really helps
nrg is prolly good for the stun effect as well id guess.
i really appreciate the quick replys. :-)

Even though I haven't PvP'd since my return, unless things have changed prepare to get a few nasty tells questioning you manhood, sexual preference, lineage, and anything else the victim can think of to try to insult you.
Rei hit the nail on the head in regards to powersets. Elec/WP/Mako is FotM right now due to having Hibernate and Spirit Shark which hits like a truck. Many of the more experienced Stalkers are sticking with Soul Mastery though - while it's got less ranged damage output, Shadow Meld in combination with Phase means you're much safer out of hide, defensively. As a PvP Stalker your main contribution will be to AS a mezzed or KB'd target and then get back into hide as quickly as possible - you're the weakest of any melee AT defensively and if you try to scrap it out with a harder target, you will die.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
I thought Shark was nerfed

largely agree that your safest approach is to be the opportunist and
get in, get your shot, and get out quickly.
If you don't have a particular aversion to hospital trips, feel free to fight it
out, but personally, I always find it's a fine line between prolonging a fight
to get a kill and getting caught when 3 more of his buddies show up to bail
him out.
Lastly, I've not found the redraw on NB to be a problem either (I switch
between Air Superiority, Sands of Mu and the various NinBlade attacks
all the time). It hasn't been particularly troublesome with that powerset
for me at all.

Defense is extremely weak, However, that is more-so by comparison, with the defense and the heal, combined with the T9 i find /nin to be a little less survivable then /regen and about on par with /wp. With the basic fight down to /wp and /nin, /wp has -kb resist and repel resist while /nin has a useful T9 and some useful goodies, I prefer /nin becuase it has an easier time attaining a good damage bonus, the max I have ever gotten on a toon was a stalker and it was something like 45% without gimping him.
Elec/ and Spines/ are argueably the best for two reasons, spines/ has a nice range without needing to go //mako. Elec/ has the heavy hitting melee attack, but a few expect this to get hit with a nice little nerf. I prefer EM personally, becuase if I manage to hit ET I have a nice second to choose whether I want to stay or run.
For going to toe to toe, what combo would you suggest to use?

Elec/Regen. That'll probably give you the best fiteclubber build. At least, until TS gets nerfed.

I'm a big fan of stalkers and played a few, but not played pvp for a long time. How would you guys say DM/SR works out in pvp?
DM is okay, SR can kinda-sorta work if you build for a lot of ranged defense and recharge to have Elude up often. Problem is SR is entirely defense-based and has no "tricks" a la Ninjitsu (Blinding Powder, the self-heal, etc.) which means if you start taking hits when you're trying to get back into hide you're gonna have to hope you have teammates to get people off your back, or you'll have to phase.

You are going to want to export the datachunk, that link doesn't actually work.

As far as pvp goes, I think your choice of primaries is going to depend on your choice of targets.
elec/em are good for harder targets (scraps and tanks)
spines are good for squishier targets (blasters, defs and controllers)
Now, not saying you can't use one to fight the other, just gonna be a little tougher. Your PPP choice is going to add a little flavor to the build.
Leviathan for more ranged and hibernate (again, good for fighting squishies)
Soul for survivability (shadowmeld)
However, both those patrons are 'me me me'. You could go mace which is very helpful for a team. I think all vil PPP's have access to -jump except Doms (interesting).
One more tidbit, zones, dueling, arena(kb) are all slightly different though I would say that zone and arena(kb) are more similar these days.
For zones, I like dot and ranged. Dot will help get you more kills. So spines and leviathan are the way to go. (Eventually, zones will clear of hero squishies leaving tanks and regen scrappers. It will be slim pickens for kills at that point.) This is where EM or Ele would be a bit better.
Remember though, after AS, you just a scrapper with less hit points so getting AS in should be priority #1.
For dueling, I like Ela with a high recharge on placate.

I do fairly well with my EM/Ninja/Widow stalker. He is soft capped at 45% melee/range and AOE defense. With shadow meld he reaches Elude status which comes up every 15 seconds or so.
Since were are the in and out type of AT. I upgrade his damage output to 30%, with assault running, hes 40%.
