OK, I'll Ask - Who's Submitting?

Rather than search eleventy-thousand individual threads, I thought I'd just try to see how many honest creators we have in this forum. Who's submitting arcs (or arc) to the First Annual Architect Awards? I'll pony up, since I haven't been shy:

"Consequences of War - Part 1" - Best In-Canon Story
"Consequences of War - Part 2" - Best Hero Arc

Next?

P.S. - Though I have no control over what folks say here, my intent is just to see what people are submitting and have some fun chat (if anyone's even around thanks to Double XP). I'm really not looking for opinions (good or bad) about an arc's chances. We have enough drama in other threads.

I have to try eh? Won't know if I don't! Not getting my hopes up either though <,<

(Cides, it gave me an excuse to polish them after coming back and put them back up >.> That's gotta be worth something right?)

Ctrl + Alt + Reset! #137561 - best original story
Matchstick Women #3369 - best custom group

which reminds me, I need to gather stuff together to send in the other one.

I'm posting 'Tis Nobler in the Mind for best hero story, Fighting Freedom for both best villain and best custom group (didn't see any rule that said I couldn't submit one arc for multiple categories) and Return of the Revenge of the Son of Drakule Part 2: First Blood for best original story.

I've entered "Splintered Shields" (#253991) for Best Hero Arc and "Two Households Alike" (#126582) for Best Canon Arc. I don't think I'm going to bother entering the other catagories.

I am entering Future Skulls, ID 4727 - Best In-Canon Story.

The other 2 depend on it too much to enter, and my 4th is too buggy with the current spawning problems. And my others are not near being ready for publishing.

I submitted "Escalation", #6143 under "Best Heroic"

Submitted "Amazon-Avatars" #5909 under "In-Canon"

I couldn't find that many great screenshots, I stink at "setting up a shot" both with real photography and virtual. So, I might not "grab" the judges that way.

I'm quite interested in seeing who wins this. Might tell us a lot about what the Devs are looking for in arcs.

Scanning through Tahlanna's Rotten Tomatoes list, it's really hitting home there's a lot of very well written arcs out there. It will be good to see someone get some recognition for their hard work.

Part of me is rooting for some of those well known 'highly reviewed' arcs to win, as some of them are among my personal favorites so far, and there's some active members of the MA community who deserve recognition. On the other hand, it might also be neat if the Devs found a previously unknown gem that I'd never heard of before and could then play. Maybe from someone who didn't have the time or inclination for "online social promotion", but wrote a really great arc and submitted it for this.

I now have a really tough decision ><; Gah!

Do we know if it's possible to enter one arc in more than one category? I know we can't enter multiple arcs in a single category; but what about the other way around?

Above Mars is, imo, my best work thus far (though I'm quite fond of the other two as well) - and I think the Terran Coalition may actually beat out my re-built Battle Maiden warriors for well-made enemy groups... but if I do that then I lose my entry for Best Original Story ><

Not like I'm gonna win, but I'm damn well going to put my best stuff forward at any rate <,<

I've asked the same question in two forums. There's been no official response, but common opinion as I've read it says you can enter the same arc in multiple categories. As it turns out, I probably could have entered CoW1 in both Best In-Canon and Best Hero, but then CoW2 would have been left without a home, so the entire question ended up moot for me.

I submitted Astoria in D Minor for "in-canon". My screenshots suck, though. Well, one of them is pretty good. But the rest suck.

I'll give it a shot then >.< Thanks!

*edit*

Screenshot wise, I'm having similar trouble; but one thing that has made it a lil easier, is going into Test mode to take them, and activating Invuln and Invisibility.

Then you can fly/run around the map and line up shots on stationary/patrolling mobs, or even mobs fighting each other. It also keeps your char out of the shots; which (at least to me) feels a bit more professional. >.< That said it's just what I've done and I don't know 100% for sure if this is actually a good idea or not.

There, all done <x.x>

I hope the don't mind I had to re-send one entry <;_;> I kinda goofed and missed one of the one-mob villain group files. Oh well, if I blew it I blew it eh? Hopefully not though >.<

Well, if we're going for honesty here:

*ahem*

None.

I've seen enough star quality out there to know I don't have it, and while I try to write my arcs to be entertaining, I don't shoot for spectacular.

It'll be interesting to see how many submissions they do get, assuming they reveal the number, and what fraction came out of the forums. Usually 10% of a game even touches the forums at all.

Well, apparently taking screenshots doesn't work in test mode. Now I have to try to actually fight team-sized spawns of Malta and Knives with my graphics turned up beyond what my machine can comfortably handle, and try to get some decent shots while moving in super slow motion every time someone throws a web grenade at me.

There's might be a moral there somewhere, something about the last minute and doing stuff before it....

I only have one arc, so I submitted "Aeon's Nemesis" (#161865) for Best Villain Arc. I'm not sure if it really qualifies for Best In-Canon Story, and I didn't want to submit it twice, so I went for the catch-all.

I'm just nervous that I screwed up copying the various critters/groups/etc back to local files and it'll be disqualified before it even gets to the voting. :-/

I tried it again just in case and it's working now...might have been something wrong earlier, because it took three tries to get the arc to republish (I had to move a blinky), the local files didn't want to let me test them, and I mapserved twice trying to clean up the villain group file.

Personally, I submitted these two arcs....

Rikti Accession:Best In-canon arc
Blitzkrieg: Best Hero arc

I didn't submit Soldiers of Fortune because I don't think it's my best work. Anyway, I'm probably going to be beaten but at least this should get my arcs some recognition.
