Bacon waffles? Justice crew? Consider me motivated. I may be asking for the Mountain Dew though... :P

I actually meant to say something similar as a caveat, but I got distracted and hit post. So, I agree. I'll be there if that's the time everyone says. After all, that's why we have coffee. Was just saying that I am usually not a morning person, by any stretch of the imagination.

This. And I'm up for the 7:30 gig because I know it'll take us a while to get there, order, eat, and return. I don't want to miss too much of the actual Con! Like Arwen says, that's why I can mainline some coffee.

I'm going to call them tonight after work, like I said...telling them to expect us between 7:45 and 8:00 sounds about right for travel time, correct?

How would I know? I'm never awake at that time of day on the weekends!

Probably. When I used to play paintball, I did get up that early and the streets were pretty clear. If everyone's ready to go & in the cars at 7:30am, then 7:45 doesn't sound out of the realm of posibility. 8:00 should be a slam-dunk. Now getting tables at those times... let's hope your phone call can work some magic!

I don't know how blasphemous this is, but would a lunch trip be a better idea? They probably wouldn't be as busy then, and we'd know the con schedule at that point. If we end up dropping 20 people on them at once, even if we were seated right away, I'd expect it to take a while just to cook everything. I'm perfectly fine with early mornings, but if the goal time to be back at the hotel is 9 AM, then I don't see being seated at 8 as being enough time. (Even if we were able to be seated then.)

I just got off the phone with them, and they're setting aside a table of ten and a table of sixteen for us, so we're all set! I told them to expect us between 7:45 and 8 am.

I'll post this here, since I'm sure most of the HC attendees will see it.

I DO plan to be at HeroCon, and DO plan to partake of the festivities as much as possible.

However....

Friday I was admitted to the local hospital for tests, and sent to the hospital 30 miles away for surgery as soon as they had test results they could confirm.

Several large gall stones were removed as well as my gall bladder. I just got home Tuesday evening from the hospital and MY plan it to attend, but I may not have the final say. The surgeon really doesn't want me going since it's a flight and I'll still have a bit of hardware to deal with. Also, he's a putz, but he was the one on call.

My sister is planning to drive me to Austin to catch the flight and then pick me up Monday, so that is covered. But my doctor's appointment isn't until Thursday afternoon so it will be a bit late to try to change plans by then.

I may have to back out of strenuous stuff like the Live Mission Event but I really want to have time to visit with my friends on Justice, so I'll be doing whatever is needed to make the big gatherings. This will likely cut me out of things like the trip to the Tech Museum and any other side trips, but it's more important for me to visit with my friends than any of the other stuff.

As I say though, it isn't my final decision as to whether I can go, but I do hope to be there as I've been looking forward to seeing you all again. I'll post Thursday night to let you know what I find out.

If you can get your registration, LMT signup & Wentworth's shopping done before heading out for dinner Friday, then there will be less reason to rush back Saturday.

Y'know... whoever's planning this Con's details MUST be a villain! 'Cause the schedule is murder on our extra-curricular activites! So ebil!

I want to see you there, TJ, but I want you healthy, too! Don't take any chances, man, and get well soon!

I really NEED to be there. For my mental health at the very least. If I'm unable to go I'll be beating myself up for no reason for a long time, even though I know it isn't my fault.

Plus, you folks don't realize how much I have been looking forward to this for stress relief. No, I won't be getting out of hand like I did last year, or anything remotely close to it, but hanging with you guys and gals is the outlet I need to keep myself stable. A bit of a family reunion as it were, or high school reunion without the bad side effects, just remembrances of good times and enjoying good company.

Yeah, I have no real life here, just work and the people I work around. That's not healthy in the long run, but such is life in a small town.

I wholeheartedly concur! But if you are able to come, you be sure to let me know if there's anything I can do to help make things easier for ya!

Much as it pains me to say it, the most help I'll likely need is for people to act as a bit of a buffer to keep from being banged around too much by exuberant friends, especially during hugs.

Ah well, this should keep the ladies happier to be around me knowing I'm restricted in this manner.

Hardware? Did they staple you? Did you have the BIG surgery or the laprascope? I had to have mine out a few months ago and had to reschedule a trip, too. (I think I was in surgery the day before I was supposed to get on the plane.) I can't remember how I felt one week after. I spent a lot of time on the couch. The first few days were the worst, so you should at least be on the upswing. One of the problems you'll have is the lifting restrictions. (And they are NOT kidding about that!) If you get cleared to come, make sure you have luggage with wheels and by all means, pay/beg people to lift things for you. Do NOT try and put anything in an overhead bin yourself. Hell, I had change purses to go back to work because my purse + my laptop wound up being way over the "don't lift more than..." weight the doctor warned me about.

Take care of yourself and do not mess around. It was weeks before I could sneeze without feeling like my guts were going to burst out the hole in my belly button and you do not want to leave your guts all over the coach section.

Staples. At least one drain may still be in place, although it's unclear whether it will be removed beforehand or not. Right now it has a metal clamp on it, and they are looking at the output from the other one to see if it can be removed.

Yeah, it was the big surgery, no laprascope for me. Haven't really had much pain luckily, except when I try to get up from laying down flat and that's mostly resolved now that I'm at home and able to sleep in my recliner again. It was mostly the raising and twisting at the same time that was getting to me.

10 pound weight lifting limit won't come close to being touched if I can help it. Luggage has wheels, I'll just be paying/begging for the lifting help. I'm carrying nothing on the plane but me, so no worries about the overhead bin and will be checking my luggage at the curb (if it's available in Austin) or having one of the Continental people lift it when I check in if my sister doesn't insist on coming in that far with me just to handle the luggage (very possible).

I'll have fun with the security anyway, with the extra metal it may take me longer to get in and out. Unless they accept the note from the doctor and do one check on me then wave me through the other lines.

When I mess things up, I do it big. My biggest worry Friday was that I was going to knock myself out of the trip. Yeah, I know that shouldn't have been my biggest concern at the time, but it was anyway.

I gotta get a life.

You take care of yourself, and I have the driving taken care of. The only time I won't is from the airport to the hotel since it looks like my Uncle is taking me from the airport to go have lunch before meeting back up with everyone at the hotel.

Be careful you, and I hope to see you Friday morning!

I think we'll have to ban you from the meals. You might pop a staple from being so engorged.

Seriously though, as much as I'd hate to see you miss the trip, I also don't want to see you injure yourself by overexerting too soon. Take it easy & be safe.

Dude, that's pretty awful. Glad that you're still planning on going. I understand the big desire to go; HeroCon is my big thing each year, too.

If, somehow, you're unable to make it, I can pick up your bag, whatever you would have gotten at Wentworth's, put a bunch of pictures and videos on a USB, and drive it over to you from here in Austin as a HeroCon care package.

But that's a desperate last resort. We want you at HeroCon!

Alrighty, but people riding in my car should be forewarned that it's been a month and a half since I've been awake that early, much less out of the house at that time.

One word...COFFEE!

P.S. Full schedule has been posted. The first of several trivia qualifiers (for those who want to partake) is at 9:15am and the welcome address starts at 10am. I highly urge those going to breakfast to take care of your registration Friday evening if at all possible.

Pending my sleep schedule (These night shifts are killing me) I may wake up early enough for it. Hopefully if that's the case you guys will still be taking walk-ins.

Yeah, definitely planning on doing registration and Wentworth's on Friday before Justice dinner.

Good to know Holder's can hold a table for us at 8:00. That gives us 2 hours to eat and get back before the opening session. Sweet.

As for me, I'm going to go print out the schedule and pack and then nervously bounce in a chair until 5 AM, when I leave for the airport.

TJ - We'd love to see you, but please do be careful! If it comes down to it I'd rather you not have a bad post surgical complication or get sicker because of the trip. If you are able to make it, i will remember to hug *carefully*.
