Which server is the most populated? I just started to play about 3 weeks ago and I'm starting to get the hang of things. The server Im on is a great server but not many ppl are on when Im on. So I want to make a Toon on one of the most populated to play with other and use my other toons for solo and messing around with stuff. Thank for the help ahead of time.

The most populated Esrvers are Virtue and Freedom.

There are plenty of players to team with on all the servers, you just need to use the tools that are available to you.

*Use the team search tool, and set your flag to Looking For Any.
*Find and join an active SG with other players that have compatible playstyles. You can look for SG's in your server section here on the forum.
*Join your server's global channels. Again, they are listed in your server section here on the forum.
*When you find other players you like playing with, add them to global friends.
*Form your own teams.

Shouting 'LFT' in Broadcast is by far the poorest way to find a team in this game.

I play exclusively on Protector, one of the lower population servers, and there is never a shortage of activity. There is always something going on.

Sure today is the first day of the rest of your life. But so was yesterday. And look how that turned out.

I find Virtue to be a hellhole of teenagers, though some may like that. Lots of people using trial version. "Is that near Atlas Park?"

Freedom, which I'm starting to switch to, is usually 2nd most populated and has a mix of serious and broadcast spammers. 3/4 of the time I get a good pick up team.

Liberty is my old server. Usually second to last in the listings, sometimes halfway up. Liberty is nearly exclusively older players and they know how to play. It's not hard to get on a team, but if you want to drop the boombox under Atlas and argue about Twilight, this aint your server. Liberty has few AE babies.

As a 5-year Virtuean, I do not understand the description of 'hellhole of teenagers'. From everything I have heard, that sounds more like Freedom. Virtue has a very large and stable population. Many great gamers run there because it is the 'official Roleplay server'. I will say, however, that sometimes a few in the RP crowd gets a little touchy with non-RPrs, and there is the potential for stumbling on some erotic roleplay. but oh well. THe people overall are great and there is plenty of teaming.

I personally like liberty the best, I have several heroes on victory and freedom, but I have always liked the crowd that plays on liberty. Just play on a couple different servers to really find what you are looking for, good luck and have fun!

Given the OP's handle, I'd suggest Ipnnacle.

Virtue had a problem with that during the AE farm days, but now that the nerf has killed the farms we don't see people acting like that much anymore. I see it much more often when I play on Freedom. The thing about new players is that they are new. It can take time to learn where everything is. If you don't like to have people ask where something is, you should stick to the lower population servers.

"Is that near Atlas Park?" is a reference to a skit where two level 40s are talking. One is an AE baby.

Maybe I'm too harsh on Virtue. There are good days and bad days. And after all, I'm pretty liberal with the ignore on Freedom. Having one person shouting on broadcast without the other side of the conversation is surreal enough it's not too annoying. Funny how ignoring around 15 people can make the broadcast spam nearly quiet.

But, everyone has their favorite. I've heard Freedom called Freedumb here recently. Eh.

When you log in, the last server you were on will be listed at the top. The rest of the servers are listed in order of 'load', with the lightest at the top and heaviest at the bottom. For the most part, heavy load is synonymous with larger population.

Recently? I've heard it called that since I first hopped on the forums.

I'm going to have to agree with this comment, being in a large Virtue SG (actually a combination of 3 SG's) consisting of older (even AARP eligible!) players. In addition to playing with SG team mates, I also pick up teams on Virtue and by and large, the play and chat is fairly mature. None of us in my SG roleplay (not seriously anyway), although many of us have played role-playing games dating clear back to the original Gygax D&D in the mid'70's.

Relative to Virtue, Freedom seems to be a pretty much anything-goes type server. My first 50th level character, a defender empath, has had quite an interesting career on Freedom, seeing just about all there is to experience on both ends of the spectrum. Let's just say she truly earned her Hero of the City badge, given the nature of all of the pick-up teams she played on.

Go to Atlas or Talos WW / Cap BM on these two servers and you'll see the difference.

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the game. Best Server to play on? Have no idea. Just pick one, join the global channels, and if you aren't finding what you need try another server. Lots to choose from each with their own merits I am sure.

Justice was my first server, for no other reason then it seemed like a good button to push. It's my home now, lots of fun people. I'm looking for a home for my Villians, which I never really play. Possibly a bit of slumming on Freedom but really don't know.

Best of luck to you and have fun. If in about a month or so the game feels like an endless grind looming upon the horizon, take a step back, ignore all the shiny things dropping and don't worry about making your hero all Uber. Run off and foil a bank robbery, maybe stop the Red Caps from their insidious plot in Croatoa, or go arrest some Hellions in Perez Park. In other words, just forget about all the fancies and be a Hero. It's why we all came.

{Yeah, pretty quickly after starting I saw an endless grind for things appearing. Lasted for a couple of days it seems to me. Took my own advice above, and have been happy ever since. Uber will come in time, think it does for everyone. }

{Oh yeah. Just so you know. When you do eventually build an Uber hero, because eventually you will, and it sucks don't feel bad. Most of mine do too. Doesn't mean I don't keep trying though.}

Enjoy your day please.

As a 5-year Virtuean, you should know better than to make a statement like the above. Here, lemme fix it for you:

It can be misleading to tell a person that Virtue is officially recognized as the roleplay server for those folks coming from games that actually have official roleplay servers.

To the OP. Virtue and Freedom are by far the most populated servers.

Virtue is known as the role playing server and most folks ((talk in parenthesis)) when "not in character" It can be annoying if your not into that sort of thing.

Freedom gets a bad rap for having the most idiots. It does. It also has the most laid back folks that are fun to team with. It is the most populated and has the most everything. During the AE farming era Freedom was a bit to much for some, including myself, but has since returned to normalcy. If you want to be able to easily find teams to do just about anything, at any time of day...Freedom is you choice.

Virtuite here as well chiming in.

True, Virtue has its share of unsavory individuals solely due to the fact it's the second-most populated server, but aside from the 'normal' idiots, I don't feel the RP crowd is too bad.

The ERP/Erotic Role Play stigma, especially, really seems overdone. I'm close to a year of playing on Virtue, and I've witnessed a grand total of two people taking their ERP to Local. I haven't spent a lot of time in Virtue's Pocket D, and I wouldn't exactly be surprised if it's a wretched hive of scum and villainy, but the thing is, while you're out beating up baddies, you will rarely, if ever, encounter any ERP. The ERPers probably just take it to /tells where it bothers no one.

As for elitists, I haven't really encountered any myself. Bracket-talkers never gave me any lip for not RPing, or for not using parenthesis when being OOC, which is the case about half the time for me. The parenthesis never bothered myself, either, but hey, different folks different strokes.

Now I'm not saying anyone who disagrees is wrong. This is all purely anecdotal. Really, the best way to find out how 'right' or 'wrong' the people are about the servers is to just see them for yourself. You can play on every freely and you might want to test the waters before 'settling' on a server, or maybe play on several or even all of them.

If it all boils down to server population, though, yeah, Freedom's your best bet, I suppose.
