Statesman's great mistake in CoH
because we got our ***** handed to us by the Rikti, and only stopped the invasion after Omega team ran their suicide mission to the Rikti dimension.
The Rikti are more advanced, better equiped, have psychic abilities as the norm, and stronger than the non-hero population, and theres a whole planet full of them. |
And worse, they can convert us into Rikti, subsuming our individual identities into the Rikti group consciousness.
This means that they can afford to absorb more casualties than we can. Because replacements are only a black-bag job away.
Next time, don't rebrand unfunny (and potentially politically charged) pop-culture references with a thin veneer of game relevance, and then expect people to laugh instead of seriously debating the implications of such a policy.
My characters at Virtueverse
Faces of the City
Yeah, but send in at least one Defender so we can all buff up to tank status.

All Scrappers: CRAP! NOW THAT MAKES ME MAD!
Defender's Ghost: Someone just slip me a wakie already!
All Scrappers: (Scrapperlocked) DIE!DIE!DIE!DIE!RARGH!
Defender's Ghost: Sonofa....
Now THERE is a "Master of..." Task Force that every player could get behind.
"Master of Rikti Task Force." Go through the portal and whale on every Rikti you can find, WITHOUT temp powers, NO chance to buy additional inspirations, a 2 hour time limit... ... while keeping Fusionette, Faultline, and Infernia alive the ENTIRE time. Michelle aka Samuraiko/Dark_Respite |
Come back and solo the MOSTF in under 30 minutes. The only thing stopping our Tier 1 attack from killing the AVs outright would be the one-shot code.
AOEs would simply wipe the map. Terrain and buildings included.
The only thing that'd be a challenge would be the new Chuck Norris TF. Mostly because Chuck would auto-hit one-shot you regardless of the one-shot code.
Genocide or not - I think it would be cool if their was a new hazard zone (or two) that took place on the Rikti homeworld with its own TF
Or we could always send in the Fire/Kin trollers to farm the planet to death! |
Cue video of Rikti Eath from space.
Cue giant Fire Ring appearing underneath it.
Oh yeah!
Nearly: Bust a rib reading this
Even so: Defeat inevitable
All your base: are belong to us!
Rikti: Eff-Tee-Double-You
((Yes, yes I do want a Rikti AT ))
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Rock, rock on Hamster.
My toon the Purple Claw (Lvl 50 Claws/Regen Scrapper) would so sign up for a counter-invasion of the Rikti homeworld. A world fulla the critters he's bent on revenge against, sure, close the portal behind us, we won't be needing it, we'll be too busy slicing and dicing!

Though not relevant to the joke of the thread, some people brought up wanting to go to the Rikti Homeworld:
Why not use a new Ouroboros TF where you ARE the Omega Team and they can either have it with the real ending (where you get kicked off the map back to the contact or something because you "died" by they pulled you out of the time stream just in time) OR do another "history changing" O mission where Omega succeeds but it (as usual with O) does not actually alter history.

But I did find the whole, "Yeah! Kill'em all!" attitude distasteful considering in-game lore. And, y'know, superheroes.
Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!
Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.
Obviously, this is just all part of a bigger Nemesis plot...

You remember that thing we had about seven years ago called the Rikti War? And how we failed to achieve victory? How come we didn't cross 5th Dimension and push those algae-eaters back to the Great Wall of Kun'Ger Ke'ee? Then take that wall apart brick by brick and nuke them back into the stone age forever? Tell me why! How come? SAY IT! SAY IT!

Why the heck is the Stateman getting yet another splinter form in CoH:GR. Write the traitor out of the game history NOW!
[NOTE :: I only have 3 arc slots so I had to pull down my arc about the history of CoH including the Statesman's attempts to destroy the City by creating an alternate dimension known as MU, failing to create that alternate dimension, and then working to create yet another pocket dimension in order lure heroes away and leave the City lifeless. I probably should have pulled it down as satire and parody are only allowed in certain situations, and we all know that the signature characters are "related" to RL individuals. Like I said, the Statesman is now a traitor to the City and has been for quite a while - regardless of the fact that he was one of it's mighty heroes early on.]
Like the guy who created Wonder Woman was a wacko, but that doesn't mean WW should be written out of the DC universe - and the same goes for the character of Statesman
Sure, Jack's become more machine now than man, twisted and cel-shaded - but the character he made is still ok.
But if it makes you happier, Positron has said they're looking at removing those big Cryptic boards from the game

So you may not be able to defeat the Rikti on their homeworld ... but clearly you can farm them. Just set scrappers and fire/kins outside each Rikti hospital.
