Ladies & Gentlemen. And Foo. Wait, Foo didn't sign up for this one. Oh well, wasn't my joke anyway. Welcome to the Third Ice Creamery Edition of Picture This, the forum game where you get to re-imagine a fellow player’s character! What you do with their character is completely up to you, as long as it's somehow recognizable to the original. Pair ups generated through random.org. Here’s how it works.

1) Prepare 1-3 Screenshots of your character and/or a short biography of your character.

2) Exchange these screenshots and description with the player you have been matched up with. Let’s try to keep this thread clear; exchange information through PMs.

3) “Reimagine” your buddy’s character using whatever methods you feel like. Your final creation should be recognizable somehow as the original character.

4) Post the original reference shots and the screenshots of your creation one this thread along with a concise biography. Feel free to include commentary too about your process.

Okay, my turn.

I was paired up with Hericane and she asked me to use her toon Lady Hericane. Here's what she looked like before I began my magic.

Lady Hericane (I apologize I couldn't figure out how to implant the images into the post without stealing them from Hericane).

As for her bio, here's a condensed version: Lady Hericane comes from an alternate dimension, Where her home planet of Aldana was not destroyed by the Rikti. After the Rikti attack failed the first time, she volunteered for a military research program which ended up giving her the powers to gather energy from her surroundings and project it at her foes. She continued to use these powers in service to the Aldanian military until she was displaced on earth in our dimension in a enemy attack. Once here she decided to help Earth against the current Rikti attacks.

Now, ladies and gentlemen, I bring you what I tried to do to her looks.



I saw that she had a sort of futuristic or extraterrestrial battle armor with two to three main colors. I tried to copy that while keeping her signature look in place. I realized too late I forgot about the tiara but I think even without it it looks good. It was best I thought to stay close to a distinct tight, sleek battle armor.

I was paired up with Eva Destruction who sent me this:

Her name is Darkfire Avenger, she is a natural origin Dark Melee/Shields Scrapper.

Background: Kat Leblanc was a college student, studying psychology and sociology at the Founders Falls campus of Paragon University, and very active in the local goth scene.

Nobody is quite sure exactly what came out when the Circle of Thorns briefly opened a rift to the netherworld late one night, but it was looking for a conduit to our world. It found what was, at first glance, a likely candidate: the chick all in black wearing a skull necklace. It bought into the stereotype, but much to its chagrin, the stereotype turned out to be somewhat inaccurate.

Kat found her predicament highly annoying, but when she realized that whatever was now a part of her had absolutely no control over her actions, her rebellious nature asserted itself and she used her newfound powers to punch a Hellion in the face. She commissioned a shield from one of her SCA friends, and the Darkfire Avenger was born.

Her costume is a blend of a goth style and a more traditional superhero look. Hope you have fun with it "

Great toon. Goth is always fun to make as a hero.

I don't want to change her backstory as I think it fits and I wasn't looking to make a new or "Ultimate" version of the toon. I think of this more like Kat has focused her will and has completely dominated the power inside her:

This image is an overall look when she is in full on kicking a.... er arresting mode.

This is her ultimate show of control. She has "trapped" the "entity" using it's own powers against it. She even uses it in this form to protect herself!

Character: Dawn Blaze
Bio: I always had a talent for magic, and used it to help people and fight evil. Then one day, a magical group I was fighting blew up some orb and I ended up transported to (and stuck in) an alternate dimension. The people of this dimension looked a little unusual, but I've been doing the same helping them and fighting evil as before. Except, some of them seem just as afraid of me as whatever I saved them from, and they run away saying something about a demon, whatever those are.

I read it as she was somewhat of a naive anti-hero. Shunned by humanity for her looks yet compelled to continue fighting for what was right and just. A happy, if misunderstood, lost soul trying to maintain a sense of normality in our chaotic world.

I decided to go Praetorian with her. In this her Bio has changed and become a bit darker.


Character: Infernal Blaze
Bio: I always had a talent for magic. That is why Infernal came for me during a battle with a magical group. Slaughtering them in front of me he too me back to his world, called Praetorian Earth. There he tried to break my spirit and make me serve him.

Oh I struggled at first, and for each attempt to escape he scarred me. First the tail, then an eye. I learned to love him, to worship him, to obey him. In return he showed me how to bind demons to my armor, just as he does.

The power is intoxicating and I no longer wish for anything other than to serve him so that he may make me stronger. Soon even Tyrant will not be able to stand against him.

I didn't see any reason to change the original bio but CR mentioned wanting to do a "post accident" costume so I went that route. First we start with the physical trauma of being immersed in arctic silver.

As you can see Dr. Silver has had quite an ordeal. His lowered body temperature is freezing moisture in the air to his skin. Skin which is already on fire trying to cope with the relative intense heat of room temperature. In desperation the good doctor seals himself in a hastily constructed containment suit allowing him to gradually increase the temperature within the suit as he became more adept at controlling his abilities.

Finally I decided I was having so much fun that I did an upgrade to the original costume. I feel like it puts a modern spin on the original costume without sacrificing the core look of the character. I left in a couple of pieces from the containment suit because I like the idea that the final costume is just a progression from the containment suit. I especially like the way the goggles, hood, gloves and boots give it kind of an arctic parka feel. I apologize for the small images but Photobucket always seems to shrink them for some reason.

Wow, all of these reimaginings have been awesome. It's cool just to see the original in of itself, but to see how someone else reinterprets it is pretty slick.

GeneralKnowledge. You da man. Ya got Lady Heri's background perfect. And yup, her looks is designed around an alien/extraterrestial battle armor that the Aldanian militia wears. Yer design of it is exactly what I thought when designing the original, something sleek and eyecatching but practical in its design, flexible, durable, sleek and powerful.

Very nice pattern redesign, as well as the colors, they still have the royal feel to it.

I'm still working on yours, I'll have my idea up as soon as I can.

I liked the bio too much to change it, and I can't take off a luchadore's mask, but the way I figure, even the greatest champion of justice sometimes needs to go undercover, to become someone dark, forbidding, someone criminals will trust and let into their plans. Sometimes, you need to become a heel.

Here's one of my villains...HardDrive...she's a Bots/FF Mastermind. She's known for her computer hacking pranks...thus the Corrupt title above her name. Her bots also carry the names as Malware, Spyware, Adware, Firewall, Antivirus, and Trojan. Disrupting mainframes is her speciality.

I decided that computer hacking needed a little specialized hardware, namely a cybernetic arm to allow direct access to other computer systems. I also felt like she needed a little shot of color aside from just the blue and black. So here you go:

I sent my reference screenshots the day after this thread started and haven't heard a peep back from DoktorMechaniker. It doesn't appear he's participating...

How do I get in on these?

Or Bubbawheat can just reassign hercules to komradekommunism???

by the by... I didn't actually sign up but rather just asked a question. Still, I'll happily prticipate if Xzero45 contacts me... If not, I'll pass (but probably join next time.)

If there is a need I would be happy to do another one. I had a lot of fun with this round.

I like using the MA so there will not be any custom power colors, but in return there will be some action shots.

The character I was given is Nathanial Raven, a Spines/Dark Scrapper (fun with power customization, yay!) His bio:

Nathanial Raven was a professor at the Paragon University teaching Paranormal Phenomena 101. He'd always been interested in ghouls and ghosts since he was a child. Then the Circle of Thorns came and he decided what better way to write a book about cult fellowship than to begin from the ground up. He slowly worked his way into the group. Then just as Nathanial decided he'd seen enough the Circle turned on him and demanded he be made a sacrifice. Nathanial struggled and fought but to no avail. A demon soul was placed inside Nathanial. But Nathanial continued to fight, this time with his own body and mind. His mind is split in two much like a split personality. One side is the Nathanial that believes the world is mostly good and worth fighting for. The other - a demon biding his time to conquer this world.

Since the second costume is more dark and anti-hero looking than the first, I decided to follow this progression. In this episode, Nathanial attempts to take control of the demon inside him and make it subservient to his will (hey, it worked for Infernal) by attempting to pry information from the masters of demon-binding, the guys who started the whole thing: The Circle of Thorns.



I stuck with the black and red color scheme from the second outfit, with some dark gold to make it more CoT-ish, and the green got put there by accident but looked kinda cool so I went with it.

Is he attempting to infiltrate the Circle again, or is the demon trying to force him to join them? You decide. Either way, it's losing, and losing bad. In desperation, it's granted him the "gift" of the Thorn Blade, by trickery or by force. It is said that the gift of the Thorn Blade is the first step in a pact with hell, and that they turn men into blood-frenzied monsters. Due to his studies into mysticism Nathanial is able to mostly control this, but those who fight by his side claim that sometimes, in the thick of combat he becomes less man and more animal, with no thought but for slaughter. There are some who call it...scrapperlock.



Anyone who approaches too closely is forced to gaze into an endless void of torment such as only a demon can imagine. The tortured souls of the other sacrifices it has consumed in its endless quest to bring suffering to the mortal realm scream their anguish at the world. If Nathanial wins, he can force the demon to free them; if he loses, he will probably join them.

I was picturing a bit of an orange tinge to the Dark Armor toggles, but we can't see how they stack up in the character creator and my DA toons all suffer from an inappropriate case of girlness, so that's all I got.

Very cool Eva! I really like how the thorny spines work with that costume. I didn't show you a pic of my new costume with the powers but I used the metal spikes. I did use orange in my dark powers. Orange and a tinge of red look like a lava flow when I am in full on dark toggled mode.

These are so fun! There are days I walk through the game and see characters and think, "I could totally modify that costume." This contest gives us just that opportunity.

Bio:

The Cape: During the Ming Dynasty the cape was found buried inside a section of the Great Wall of China during the excavation of a damaged area. Blessed by a great magic worker of the previous Dynasty it grants the owner great strength and the ability to fly. Over the centuries it has been sold many times before ending up in a pawn shop in Paragon City.

The Shield: A gift from the gods to the Aztec people this mystical shield grants the holder "Skin of the Stone Mountain" as legend says. The artifact is believed to be key in how the Aztec people gained so much power.

The shield was taken back to Spain after the owners death at the hands of Cortés. The next time it was seen was in the hands of a hero called "Tribal Chief" who died during the first Rikti invasion. It then found it's way to a small pawn shop.

The Helmet: The Mask of Ocularu was one the bone mask of a great African shaman. He lost his life battling an evil spirit that threatened his tribe around the same time as the fall of the Mu. The mask still holds his spirit and anybody who wears the mask becomes the new host.

During the Roman era the mask was cracked and the spirit within nearly lost. A skilled craftsman rebuilt the mask using his own armor. With a blessing from Zeus himself the spirit now could call the powers of electricity to it's aid.


The Man: Jack is a greedy artifact dealer who owns a small pawn shop in Steel Canyon. Late one night he decided to try on some of the latest arrivals. Upon wearing the mask he became the latest hero called Ocularu.


Personality: While wearing the mask Ocularu has the wisdom of ages, blocking out all the negative aspects of Jack. His is loyal, trustworthy, and driven by an eternal desire to fight for good.

To his friends he is most loyal, often acting as a leader for his adopted tribes. He is quick to offer council, and often assertive if he truly believes he is in the right.

When I read the 'skilled craftsman' and 'Roman Era' from the helmet description I started thinking of Daedalus, then from the rest I went for the Zeus/Imperious/lightning connection and redid the helmet to look more like Imperious's.
From there I changed and added a few artifacts that could also have been lying around the pawn shop. I figure the gloves don't look ancient, but even a hero might have to pawn something.
What I ended up with:

One aspect of this character that you hit on perfectly is the pawn shop. He is a hero powered by his artifacts rather than his own super powers. I like the gloves with the shoulder pieces as it really reflects this "thrown together from what was around" look.

I may end up using some of these ideas for my second costume slot. Third is going to be a more future looking armor, and fourth is the man without any of the artifacts.

Life is not worth living without power. Power is what we are all striving for. It's what a few of us breathe, eat, and drink. I always knew I was destined for greatness. I joined the military as soon as I turned 18. My performance was so stellar and my dedication so great that after only a few years I was given the honor of participating in a special program.

Thanks to the United States government I was all I could be. I had more power than I had ever thought possible. My personality led me to some less than savory missions. My new found skills served me very well. It wasn't long before I grew bored with my missions and tired of following orders. With the help of some friends I "disappeared" during a covert op. I adopted the name Rahdika and set out on my own. I was going to do things my way from now on.

For a while I was able to hide without changing my looks, but with each passing day it became more difficult. I decided to let my hair grow and altered my clothing as well. I met a Shaman who taught me how to "alter" my powers appearance and now feel more free than I have in years! The person I was is gone, faded into nothing more than a memory now, My name, my life, my essence IS Rahdika.

With my addition to her Bio I came up with a costume that pulls away from what she was entirely, I hope everyone enjoys the New Rahdika !!
