Nice video!

Mine's still only on lvl 10, but I'm having a blast (edit: pun not intended!) as well with just irradiate and fsc

Seriously! I started out with rad the normal color and white/blue fire to match my costume, but my next costume is going to have to have green fire because that looks fantastic

Ok Theres a couple of things I want to point out with your build that I would want to change.

1. According to Mids with all your toggles running your spending 2.63 endurance per second and with stamina and set your regaining 2.63 endurance per second. Which means you will end up burning right through your endurance once you start attacking and the 90 seconds between the time you run out and it takes for consume to recharge will seem like an eternity. You need to reslot for more endurance reduction on the toogles, be very selective to the ones you run, or drop a couple completely.

2. I would drop the fighting pool. There are better ways to spend slots for these. A couple of suggestions, hasten (will help recharge your powers faster, but means you will burn through end faster) and Super Speed (SS + stealth IO = invisible to most MoBs until you damage them.) Medicine pool is a good one too. Aid self with 2 heal SOs is roughly 1/3 your life, with 2 SO recharges its ready about every 11 secs.

3. You may want to consider dropping blazing aura and/or Hot Feet. Both of them have a nasty way of drawing agro away from the tank and on to you. Of course all of the AOE damage will have the same effect but it would be easier for you to let the tank grab the agro then run in and drop your AOEs, hopefully killing everything in the process.

4. I would drop Ice Mastery for Fire mastery because well I have an ice tank and to be honest hoarfrost is more of a buff then a heal. If thats why you took it the Medicine pool would be better. Snow Storm is a cool (no pun intended) but its a rather large end drain and if you keep hot feet it's over kill on the slow. Why fire mastery? Bonfire drop it at your feet if your surrounded/in trouble, block doorways, trap mobs in a corner. Using it properly and tanks will love you. Char, sweet fast activating hold. Fire Shield, Reisitance shield the way I look at it is defence is nice they might miss you but it really hurt when they hit... and you will get hit. Rise of the Pheonix, self rez because well your a blaster you will die and because you are an AOE blaster you will die and finally because your a Fire Manipulation blaster you will die.

That's all I can think of at the moment I will try to work up my own build and post it for people to offer thei suggestions later. I hadn't thought of this combo before but it looks hot and totally rad (ok I admit it that one was intended).

I completely forgot melt armor in the fire mastery. Nice AOE -Def & -Res that will make you other AOE easier to hit with and hit harder at the same time.

I just rolled a rad/fire and even at level 4, it's a lot of fun! I can't believe the early AOEs I'm getting....but that also makes me nervous.

Any suggestions for slotting the AOEs? I'm thinking 2 end reducer/2 recharge/2 damage.

Or

2 end reducers/1 acc/3 damage

I plan on getting stamina and with the 2nd choice above, I'd get Hasten to compensate. In either case, I'm thinking the two end reducers are almost needed so I don't die of exhaustion TOO early.

Later when Hot Feet and/or Burn comes around, I'll reconsider.

Any input (especially regarding endurance usage, recharge, slotting in general) on each AOE (even the toggles) is truly appreciated.

And I want to thank those who have already given input... because this looks to become a real fun build!

Thanks!

I disagree about dropping hotfeet/blazing aura. In a crowd, they do a lot of damage, and the mild mitigation hot feet provides is usually totally underestimated. Plus the slow movment helps with burn.
Part of the blaster conundrum is there are so many attacks available, it can become difficult to find a use for all of them. dmg toggles help here, turn them on, and they dont cost any activation times in battle.

To anyone new to /fire, it is an odd secondary. a lot of the powers are standard in the begining, but the last few are a little odd. seperate, they look pretty lackluster, but when used in cunjunction, the whole is much greater then the sum of its parts. hot feet/blazing aura and burn all work well, hot feet causes fear, but they cant really run away very fast. burn also causes fear, and hot feet keeps them in the patch. consume fits in with these, it provides the counter to the endo costs, and happens to be most effective in the middle of a spawn, same as the auras and burn.

I find with my /fire blasters that the lvl 30-40 is kind of awkward for the secondary. I actually dont mess with the auras and that until i get to lvl 39, so i can slot them and use them together. once slotted, and all set to go, the powers work very well together.

My only beef is that when hot feet detoggles, it recharges pretty darn slow. in the new world of suprressing toggles, having one toggle take so long is kind of lame. get held? sprint, combat jump and any number of others will keep going. blazing aura detoggles, but will be back to reactivate in a few seconds. hot feet will detoggle, but you might as well wait till the end of the battle to look for it again. lots of ways around mez now, but it happens. its really just a minor beef, more a QoL thing then a major put off, the power still works rather well.

when you get to lvl 22 and can slot for SO's, dont be afraid to look for super cheap recipes on the market. especially for powers like hot feet, you can slot slow recipes that are dirt cheap. if you are on a shoestring budget, totally ignore set bonuses and just look for the stuff you want. acc/dmg/end/slow for hot feet for example. so look through slow sets, pick out the acc/end/slow and dmg/slow etc. dont be afraid to write down the % on a piece of paper and try to plan out a combo of them to get really high enhance values out of fewer slots.

this works on a lot of powers, even if you dont totally slot all set Io's. look for cheap peices, and fill in whats lacking. slot a few acc/dmg and then put in an endo redux SO if need be. you can get a lot better values for most of the time cheaper then SO's that way.

I just want to say that the APP version of Melt Armor has taken the place of old animation/range Flares as the worst non-bugged power ever to make it live since Issue 2. Even Fold Space was more useful (and is basically back in the game as temp and vet powers). Even Rage with the total end crash wasn't as bad.

Eldagore, thanks for the suggestions! I'll check out some "slow" recipes for Hot Feet when the time comes.

Concentration + Psy Scream + Electron Haze should be boatloads of fun.
Aim + Irradiate + Drain Psyche + Psy Shockwave + Neutron Bomb should also be giggle inducing.

A related question...

Is it NOT a good idea to slot ANY of the rad powers for defense debuff? My first instinct is to slot irradiate with it, but perhaps damage is a better choice...

Your thoughts, please?

Don't bother slotting for defense debuff. Between all of your blasts, you already have tons, probably well more than you'll ever need in 99.9% of situations. Fulfill your blaster destiny and slot for damage.

And if it fits put in the proc from achilles heel. such funny stuff that one

Thanks, Muon! Yes, I thought that would be the case... but didn't think it hurt to ask! LOL!

1) Cone synergy: Electron Haze > Psy Scream. The latter is a little bigger, meaning anything you knocked back with EHaze is still going to get hit with the PScream.

2) PBAoE synergy: Irradiate > Drain Psyche > Psy Shockwave. Do lots of damage, stun minions, and boost your regen and recovery with this PBAoE combo. Add a Cosmic Burst and stun the boss, too.

3) Nuke synergy: Drain Psyche > Atomic Blast. Slot Drain Psyche with 3 Touch of the Nictus and 3 Efficacy Adapter. Then if you hit 8 to 10 targets (which you should if you're committing to Atomic Blast), not only will you have 80-100hp/sec regen to help deal with counterattacks, but your endurance recovery will be buffed so much that it'll completely overcome the -recovery from the nuke. In other words, you'll be able to keep attacking after Atomic Blast, even if you don't have blue inspirations or outside buffs.

Can't quite figure out how anyone would fail to see this combination as fun.

The only Defense debuff IO you should need is the Achillies proc.. put that in everywhere you can. IF you can get it, the Gladiator's Fury Proc stacks.. and those 2 in all your aoes.. just imagine!

Wanted to get some opinions on this build... something I was just playing with in Mids, definately centered around the PBAoEs. Basic thought was run in with the +stealth SS on, fire up Snowstorm,Hotfeet and Blazing Aura which should do bad things to mob's movement, drop a burn patch, then fire off FSC, Combustion, Neutron Bomb and Irradiate. The capped S/L is of course to try and avoid being pounded into paste while trying to get the powers off.

As this is just an idea I had for a build, I'm not strongly tied to any of the powers or sets if there are better options, don't even have a rad/fire in game yet.

Any thoughts?
