/Facepalm moments

My level 5 newbie kept getting pwned by level 19 Clockwork Princes while running from Atlas Park to Kings Row to meet my new contact.

And then someone told me there's a train.

THIS, only replace "a mob" with "the flier" and "way over there" with"on a Master run".

My Coalition is still giving me a hard time for that, and it was a week before i16.

I used to have my Nova on the tray at the end of my attack chain, and would rebularly nuke 1-2 things that were left. I actually binded "Oops..." since I did it so often.

Forgetting to toggle up is a very common one.

I think my biggest facepalm moment was doing a respec and forgetting to retake my travel powers.

Funny story bout the self destruct, my SG was doing a RSF run and weren't actively attempting a master run, but if we could we were gonna, well along the way one of my SG mates accidentally self destructed in mob, which made the Master run an easier decision.

The other day I'm on a PuG and we jet off to some smaller island in Talos I think it was and then stand around the door into the mission, waiting for the last guy to show up. I saw some dark indistinct shapes just down the beach so I targeted one and saw it was a red-con DevEarth, a RazorVine or something.

So a couple of minutes later talk comes up about how long everyone's been in the game. I mention I've been here for a few years and click to brandish my Black Wand as proof...

You can see where this is going, right?

Fortunately we were able to take him and his friends down pronto anyways, but I still felt pretty stupid.

I was on a PUG team red side playing one of my squishies. Between fights, I was chatting, so to keep with the group, I was using /follow. Unfortunately, the toon I was following was a stalker, so when he stealthed into a new pack of mobs to get in position, I ran right in after him. Didn't even have a chance to hit Enter and retake control of my toon before I faceplanted.

Moral of the story: never put a stalker on /follow.

No matter how many levels I gain, the Lag Monster is always red to me.

My most frequent /facepalm moment lately . . .

Playing my Stone/Fire tank, I like to stay in Rock Armor until Granite is needed. So I run into the group of Malta to fire off my AoEs and gather aggro . . . forgetting, of course, to toggle on Rooted for my mez protection. I'm immediately stunned . . . and stunned . . . . and stunned . . . until faceplanted.

I've actually done that one a few times.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

Been there, done that I hate to say

There's also the toggle rooted + rock armor and TP into a mob thinking you can handle it without Granite... then instantly ending up red and frantically hitting the Granite button just a bit too late. I've done that one more often than I care to think about.

Local, you're not supposed to copy EVERYTHING I do when tanking

Stone/Stone. Same thing. Break free saved me from total faceplant..... Fortunately.

I have aggro'ed many, many mobs with my dmg/range pimp'ed Full Auto. In those moments, the face palming occurs while i rush ahead to meet them with Caltrops hoping to give the team some time...or allow me to clean my own mess lol

I did something like that, we were gathering to fight Deathsurge and some of us started pulling out our temp powers. After a few powers I realized I had Deathsurge targeted, but so far the power's ranges had been short enough nothing happened.

Unfortunately, my realization came just as I clicked the next power, which had a long enough range to shoot him. Rather than pull him to our group I charged in, but he killed me, and then the others came to help. I was rezzed and we continued to beat him down, but I felt like an idiot. Even worse since some people missed the chance to fight him because I jumped the gun.

I've seen this mentioned before, I actually had to look it up to find out why this was such a "d'ur" move. Apparently the old Moment of Glory dropped your health by a huge amount, and made you immune to any sort of heal or hitpoint buff. It also pushed damage resistances for almost everything to insane levels. So you would now have 100 hitpoints, but anything that attacked you would be doing just fractions of a point of damage. *Unless* it was Psi, the only thing Moment of Glory didn't boost resistance for.

So against psychic critters, the battle apparently went something like this:

*You have activated Moment of Glory!*
"I am INVINCIBLE!"
*Psychic Clown uses Ice Cream Headache!*
"Ow."
*You have died!*

That about sums it up.

My Warshade did a similar thing.

Went Dwarf and jumped in with Mire and immediately faceplanted.
Looked at the Dwarf form resists and noticed the lack of Psi resist.

There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
