Entirely the idea: Cheap. Most expensive items are three LotG: +Recharge, and those can be gathered relatively easily from A-Merits over the course of a couple weeks, 32 Astrals, 275 Merits (I might be slightly off on that one), or flat out buying them off the market for 50M Inf. I'd say 90% of the build can be afforded on roughly 50-75M Inf, with the only struggle-items potentially being slightly abnormal pricing on the Gaussian's Set, the three LotG's, the +Regen that can range from 5-15M, and the Steadfast +Def that can be anywhere from 25M to 50M.

Between Merit options, micro-managing Auction Bids, and a single AE Ticket Farm, one could easily end up with most of that build in hardly anytime at all, with nearly no major out of pocket cost.

My favorite thread in the entire forum! Good to see this thing is still up and running. I have a DM/SD who used to be set up pretty nicely, but now after being gone some 6+ months so much as changed he is in need of a dire make over. Looking to get my feet wet again.

Long live Scrappers!

What Hybrid selection should I choose for Murcielago? I was thinking Melee but Assault looks really nice.

I am thinking Melee will work as a nice heal over time, and Assault as a nice build up power. Kind of depends on how much damage you take, if the heal won't let you do more awesome things then take Assault and just do the same awesome stuff, but faster.

Appreciate the offer! ^___^

Just downloaded Mids again so I can tinker with things. Now that Fitness is inherent I am hoping it will free up some things for me, and let me get a bit more character concept (Hopefully I can have my Optic blasts back! ...err I mean laser eye beams lol).

I'm going to strip my Tanker SS/SD down and use stuff from him if needed, but mostly sell all the sets I gave him. He just can't perform at my DM/SD Scrappers level, and the Rage crash is annoying. lol

Hoping with the influence I can get from all of that will get me on my way to affording a Glad's.

Just saying: If you team play take [Grant Cover] best def team buff in game but not self... A living team is more helpful always ! On my opinion it's a must have from Shield defense line, unless you play all content solo, but if it s the case why are you using phalanx fight? My DM/SD is set up like this with all powers from shield defense line and any team enjoy this buff [Grant Cover], if you meet another SD you ll also enjoy that +13% buff if slotted well !

I'm really leaning toward Assault, I've got Siphon Life and Rebirth, so more damage would be really nice.

Just thought I'd toss this up here in light of the impending Snipe Changes for i24. Re-Worked DM/SD to try and include some alterations. I've changed my expectations for slotting certain attacks for my characters and wanted to shift set bonuses in a way that would allow this and still get [above] 45% defense (marginally). All under the intentions of working in Moonbeam.

If the Devs simply "remove" the Interrupt stall from the Snipes, then in theory Moonbeam should dump down to 1.584 Arcanatime. Squeezing the recharge as best I could, I'm looking at Smite > Siphon > Smite > Midnight > Moonbeam. With T4 Reactive Radial, and fully saturated AAO/Soul Drain, this build totals out to [potentially] 399.8 DPS. With previous testing on Hybrid - Assault: Core averaging a 40pt DPS increase, I'd be reaching a potential of 440 DPS with this build. Downside is... that's not sustainable, so this is likely going to require Ageless in order to maintain sufficiently without relying on intermittent Dark Consumption on single-targets. Adding Ageless will shred (hopefully) the 3/s gap on Soul Drain to make the entire cycle fairly flawless.

It's a great idea. But I am stuck wondering if it is worth it, as it causes you to lose an APP with better AOE damage. I find the Fire APP pool and Fireball to be of far more use to me in standard content than ramping up my s-t damage further. On teams, I almost never find myself wishing I had more s-t damage ....

Dark Melee does one thing really well, and that is most assuredly Single Target. I know most take the Fire APP for Fireball, but conceptually it just doesn't settle well with the character. He's very much the ideal of classic Starcraft Terran Cruiser where they'd come in with one massive alpha blast to take out single targets in huge bursts rather than a group collectively. The burning orange ball doesn't really mesh with him either. Besides that, there are more reasons than conceptual to forgo an AoE-inclusive Epic when you fully consider Incarnate Trials. In situations like Tyrant who rumbles around with 1200 Regen and it's already hard to stay in range with him, having an attack or two that gives me 150ft would be a boon. That entire trial really starts bending in the direction that the devs are going to be making the fights... not necessarily "harder", but with the "intention" that they should be simply on making the AV's more difficult to kill.

What are most of the trials bent around? Single-Target. The Guard, Weapon/Acid Crates in Lambda, then Marauder. Repeatedly killing Siege/Nightstar on the BAF. Small-knit groups, control panels, and Anti-Matter in the Keyes. Mot's Sentinel, and Diabolique in the DD trial. Many of the main focuses of those trials are all bent on removing one single target out of the fight. Granted it is with a team, but even Tyrant is difficult to kill in a raw-damage brawl (currently).

I have a few questions if people would not mind pipping in their two cents.

1) Would it be better to slot the Miracle, Regenerative tissue, and Panacea unique in True Grit, or Health. Currently I have them in True Grit, and then Numina's convalescence triple slotted in health.

2) The enhancement converter things. (Sorry I forgot their names, the purple drop) Can they only enhance/improve the Archtype enhancements or are there others they can be used on as well.

3) I've been debating on trading out Assault for One with the Shield. I run solo a lot and do plenty of TF's. My biggest worry for Owts is that it will just sit there on my toolbar and I'll never end up using it.

The 4 listed uniques will provide the same effects if slotted in Health or True Grit so in that aspect, it does not matter. If you have slots to spare and want to improve hitpoints/regen, slot the uniques in Health and IO's into True Grit. It will increase your max HP and in turn increase your regen rate. Also nice to have them in Health as no matter what level you exemplar to, you will have the bonuses but if you choose True Grit at a later level, you can lose them if you exempt to low.

The Enhancement Catalysts only improve ATOs. Enhancement Converters can change a purple into a different purple.

You are running without OwtS right now, how are you currently surviving? If you're doing well, don't bother with it unless you want it as a mule. I have OwtS carrying a Steadfast unique and I use it about the same amount as Brawl.

Appreciate the answers. Might be able to free up one more, but that is iffy. Most likely place the unique stuff all in Health so they're always there.

Currently I can run pretty much anything at +4/x8 and only rarely run into problems. This includes the DA stuff. If I picked it up it would be for one of those 'oh crap' moments.

Me again. Couple more questions if someone would not mind helping me out.

Smite: Currently slotted with 5 of the new IO set from the Summer Event. This gives me a small range defense increase, and gives my most frequently used attack a 20% chance for knockdown.

Siphon Life: Currently slotted with 6 of the superior scrapper's strike.

Physical Perfection: Slotted one end recovery and then two Numina's convalescence.

Now for my question.

Would I get more performance from putting the 5 slotted IO set from the summer event in Siphon Life. Then stripping a slot from physical perfection to place in siphon life to enhance it's heal just a bit more? Which would then have me place my ATO stuff in smite instead.

You run a Shield build +4/x8 on tip missions? I am curious how you handle multiple boss carnie spawns where pets have increased ToHit, the defense debuffs from Arachnos spawns, and Devouring Earth quartz. Are you just kiting everything all over the maps?

For most mobs I jump into the middle, use my Void incarnate power, then soul drain, followed up by Shield charge. That combined with against all odds is the end of most mobs save the bosses and a couple Lt's. The lts that are left over are easily dispatched with one his from midnight grasp or siphon life after that, and then that just leaves the bosses.

The devouring earth are the easiest of the three. If they set down to many of their 'buffs' and I can't destroy them fast. I just leap away from the mob and make them come to me.

With the Archnos and Carnies toss on barrier before you jump into the middle and that's that. Or now Owts if barrier is on cool down. I also have the Eye of Magus accolade (Believe that is the name of the resistance bonus one) which helps out for when/if Owts and barrier are both on cool down.

Increasing my healing ability of siphon life, since currently it's just slotted as an attack.
Personally, I'd slot Siphon Life 1x Acc/Dam HO, 2x Heal/End HO, Dam/End Mako's, Mako Proc, Glad Strike Proc.

I don't really care much for the Overhwhelming Force set. The KB->KD Proc is useful, but I'm less inclined to the rest of the set. If you have the desire to use it, then I wouldn't see complaint of finding room in Smite for the Proc, but I'd slot the rest of that attack with Hecatomb or the ATO1 Set in some fashion, or Hecatomb Set. You can actually see my I23 compliant build up above (with one minor tweak to anticipate Snipe changes).

I've only casually been reading up on the Snipe changes. I keep hearing tidbits here and there and after looking at some more numbers it's got me curious. I run a 6 slotted Tactics and use the Kismet unique already. So that there should give me a huge chunk of what will be needed to take advantage of things. My build's a high recharge set up and Soul Drain is about 2 seconds off perma.

My only worry/concern would be changing into this and not being able to keep my endurance at a sustainable rate. As with Physical Perfection and access to Conserve Power I never have end problems and that is even against Carnies and other end suckers.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
