Approach determines response.
If you are attacked then a dogged defense is of course understandable.

If, however, people are trying to be helpful, even if it is through criticism (which I thought was constructive but your opinion may vary) then a dogged defense is not dictated by that approach and rather at least some measure of appreciation and courtesy should be shown, even if it's not truly felt.

I have yet to see anyone attack you or your art... But your responses often come off as overly defensive if not actually "counter attacking"... It could very well be that you are just trying to explain why you did things the way you did and such as that but it seems as if you are offended, appaled and insulted.

Perhaps, if anyone bothers to offer up critiques or advice in the future, you'd be better off reading it, letting it sink in, and not allowing yourself to respond for a day or two. Even when they are not intended that way, critiques can sting and perhaps that is coloring the tone of your responses... Or you could just keep swinging back at any critique, no matter how mild, and eventually lose out on the valuable input being offered.

I already made one post apologizing for being rude last night and I think you deserve my second Scooter. While I stand by the basic premise of my comments above I should have attempted to express myself in a much calmer and nicer manner. I'm sorry if my tone comes off harshly but I still think you should consider the point I was trying to make...

It's not a big deal. I appreciate, and accept the apology Caem.

He critiqued the body position not the technique of the art. I explained my process of how I came up with that position.

Even said yes it does look like the body builder, although unintentional.

He then pursued the issued in a manner that I thought was attempting to start a flame war. I got got caught up in it, and tried to keep it civil, at least publicly, PM's are another issue.

I believe that the artist has final say in any art they do.

I did take his critique to heart I need to work on the body positions. I am aware of this, even more so now. This is about me improving my skills of doing digital art.

NOT about how well I can fan the flames.

Consider the matter done. I've moved on to the next piece. I will go back and do some changes to things I'm not happy with in a lot of my previous pieces, but right now I need to focus on moving forward, with the lessons I learned from the past.
Staying in the past will only make it worse.

Anything else I want to say on the matter will only continue to fan the flames.

Scooter, as for poses or stock images I'm always saving images in magazine, newspapers, etc. It might be for the eyes, shadowing on the face, how their hand is placed, whatever that happens to catch my attention. If you haven't already, take a look at SenshiStock over on DA. She's got a huge gallery of stock poses that she's created.

so YEAH, I should probably do that whole 'checking the forums' thing more than once a month, h-uh?

Sidestepping the, ah, lively discussions for a moment, 'tis a thing of interest. Different to how she looks in my head (she's called Impossible because she doesn't look anything like as strong as she is), but variation is half the fun of having different people-who-draw do characters, is it not? Thankies for doing it!

Character references! Artz! Whatnot!

I was trying to walk the line between fit and "HULK SMASH"

I was actually looking at a lot of female professional athletes, beach volley ball for instance and tried to go more that route.

will keep in mind for the re-do
