Batman and Pirates

so are you playing the new Arkham Asylum? If you did not pay for it the devs , kinda , gutted it for your pirate pleasure. If you did not pay for the game they have taken out a lot of batmans moves making the game unbeat able. I would say this is realy over kill since around 5%-15% of the people playing the game would be pirates, and give a week the pirates will fix this. I did pay for the game and i am realy enjoying it , but on the other i understand how pirates would look at a game that price tag for is well pricy. it may be my canadain unbringing, with the canadain Copy right laws beeing what they are, But this realy annoyes me. They have sold something like 20 million copies and they are extra rude to a random person that for all they know is having a glitch. GRRR

...now every time i renew this game a the dev is going to be double checking me.....

i will agree that it is better then the normal DRM, but i just find that they are beeing a little rude about it. i got the collector's edition and i am loving it but then again i can affored it. personaly i think they should be nicer to the pirates then saying " the bug is your morals"

Now that is a brilliant way to deter piracy

How is it rude for them to use an innovative way to protect their product? If it was affecting people who paid for the game (one of the major DRM complaints), I'd agree... but as long as the people who legitimately purchased the game aren't hindered in some way, I say kudos to the dev team for figuring out a good way to let the honest people play, and let the pirates get a taste of what they're missing by purchasing the game legally.

Brilliant move.

I know Arma use's a simular DRM. It starts off fine, and as you play, well you could be the best FPS'er in the world but you would fail to hit the broad side of the barn! Really funny when the pirates popped in asking why their aim sucked so bad.

Waitaminute... "rude about it"? Are the developers obligated to make the game easy to pirate? I'm not following your reasoning.

It sounds like they came up with a better form of DRM than root-kits and other intrusive software packages. I say Bravo! I'm planning on picking up a copy of AA next week when it comes out for the PC. From all the acclaim, it sounds like it will easily be the GOTY for 2009.

Since its acquisition of Rocksteady parent Eidos, Square-Enix has announced plans to use similar DRM in its upcoming Final Fantasy XIII, where any attempt to use magic will always result in summoning a rampaging horde of Chocobos to crush the party, the player, and anyone they've ever loved.
This. is. excellent.

IMO, if someone was stealing my product, I'd be a little rude too, frankly. If a person can't afford a game, they can save up for it. If a person thinks something is too pricey, they can not purchase it and/ or be vocal about the price (case in point: PS3). They don't have to steal a product if they disagree with a price.

Personaly i think they should have more professional about it. there has got to be a professional way to call somone a dirtbag by now. AND what if it was just a glitch?

My husband beat AA and he experienced no problems with it. This is for the 360 though. Is only the PC version having this glitching problem?

He is a pirate, but he must have gotten a legitimate copy of the game instead of the glitched one.

Personally I love it when games are protected like this, I vaguely remember one of the command and conquer series had it where if you had a pirated version your entire base would explode a few seconds after starting a mission

Yeah, it's horrible to be rude to PEOPLE WHO STOLE FROM THEM.

If someone breaks into my house, it's not going to be "please" and "thank you." It's going to be Baseball Bat Justice.

he had it before the release date. Screw him.
If "being professional" means just suck it up and smile at the person who is stealing from you, then I think it's another antiquated notion that we as a culture should outgrow.

I also find it ironic that a thief was playing as Batman...

well you do not have to smile, but i think a lack of name calling is generaly in order.
