So what you want basically is Fortune's Wheel, but blueside. I can get behind that, but only if they keep the creepy calliope music.

It doesn't even need to be as extreme as a Carnie-only neighbourhood. I know, two, maybe three spots where Carnies spawn in PI, and even then sometimes another villain group spawns there and screws me over.

Seriously, Malta, which is all about covert ops and secret operations is more present than a bunch of flashy magic gypsies that need to lure people to their shows for their soul juice. How does that even begin to make sense?

I practically live in Fortune's Wheel with my villains when they are the appropriate levels. I am always a bit sad when I outlevel it.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

And "fun" in a totally different kind of annoying way, the "Hunt X Council" that's followed up by "Hunt Y Council" and then "Hunt Z Council". Bloody hell, just tell me how many I have to hunt up front and be done with it.

Heh, last time I did this mission I resorted to finding some on the edges of the Misty Wood and pulling them in to the wood to kill 'em where they'd count. Tedious, but it works faster than looking for FB already in the MW.

But for pure tedium and annoyance, I agree that Harvey Maylor's "Kill 45 Carnies in PI" is the worst.

Does it work on all Rikti? Imagine using it on a Rikti Monkey and seeing it turn back into a Human. Poor sap will never live that down at Pocket D...

"Tag, Zag, and Bag"

Tag 'em; run, etc, to draw them to the right neighborhood; then bag them when they cross into it

To be fair, the story behind those is usually like:

Okay, we need to know who did this.

Okay, we need to know where they are.

And how we get in!

*POTENTIAL SPOILERS*
It works on all lost, and all Rikti. If I remember correctly. You'd be surprised what the Rikti have that are made of humans... Drones, Communication Officer summoned portals...

Hmm, might be interesting to take the wand onto a MS raid one day, or a LGTF... Or an invasion.... what faction (if any) do the ships belong to again?

My two least-favorite hunts are actually both redside and in Sharkhead.

Kill X Council Near The Pit - Most of the Pit spawns at level 24 or so, but you can end up with this mission at level 20. Most of the Council spawns near the Pit are also large groups, bosses, or warwolves. Trying to fight two +3 archons on some characters isn't fun.

Defeat X Circle of Thorns in Potter's Field - About the same deal as the other one, but CoT aren't even that common in Potter's Field. Where they do spawn, they're often in patrols, so if you fight one, you run the chance of having a wandering +4 Madness Mage wander upon you. Oh, and a lot of the groups spawn near even higher-level ice demons.

Honorable mention goes to Numina's series of 'HUNT EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE. IN ORDER.' missions. With that many zones involved, it's way common for us to be doing that mission and suddenly need to hunt in a zone that's currently under Rikti/Zombie invasion and thus won't spawn anything for 15 minutes. Sometimes this happens with multiple zones.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

I swear there's a secret society of players that wait around in Founder's Falls, stalking the rooftops for people that want to do a Numina TF, and when they find one, they follow you until they see it's time for the Hunt of Doom, and their secret agents at the last mission of the LGTF as well as those with Halloween salvage all trigger these events at the same time just to **** WITH YOU.

At least that's why explanation for why that keeps happening.

The Misty Woods has a narrow bottleneck in the north of it, and as you say, what counts is where they fall over. I typically have to "pull" Red Caps "over the border" into the Misty Woods every time I get the mission. You have to irritate them enough to chase you, and not get too far ahead of them or they will return to their spawn points.

The main problem is in realizing WHY it does not count when you whack a member of the target class. "Oh, when it says 'in New Connaugh' it has to be in the border of... d'oh!"

Of course it always happens that PI is overrun with with Strongmen saying, "Darlings, we cannot let anyone pass!" whenever I am looking for Fake Nems instead of Carnies. (Although +4 Master Illusionists seem in plentiful supply when I DO have a Carnie hunt. )

This is all sort of a Rite of Passage, I suppose... like trying to enter the Exit in the train, etc.

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
