Zoning pets in I16

Be sure to check this out if you can on test.

Sometimes our pets would be unable to be controlled and would not dismiss either when we did certain zonings so better to identify all those instances now rather than when it goes live.

This is an awesome change.

Holy hell, I cannot wait for this to hit live. Just last night I rejoined my ITF group on the last mission, and was met by a door ambush before I could summon my pets. No more!

I have some questions about it though... Think about Bloody Bay that auto malfactors you to 25. You could, in theory, summon all your pets outside of bloody bay, do both upgrades, then zone in and destroy stuff! According to new exemp rules, you would be able to summon the tier 3 in Bloody Bay, so no problem there. (You get powers up to 5 levels higher than your exemp level) The problem is that you shouldn't have the the level 32 upgrade, but you zoned in with pre-buffed pets... Overpowered and a half, anyone?

Not really. Don't pets die now after a minute if a level disparity continues? (for example if your Mentor gets out of range for too long).

I'll check this out on Test tonight (assuming I can get in) and see what happens.

Thank you so much. I hope the case is that pets scale with you and just lose the buffs they shouldn't have, so you don't have to keep re-summoning when the mission owner changes all the time. It would half defeat the purpose of zoning pets.

By the way, and I know this is totally random and all, and you've probably heard it before, but you're a swell guy, you know that?

Not with Super Sidekicking. We aren't on a leash any more. We can even be in different zones.

This is not to say if you drop to level 20 or lower your 3rd tier pet won't die but there is also an optional notification that your level is about to change and a 30 second window before it takes effect.

Yep, I know that but won't they just use the same mechanism whenever your level drops because you've just been exempted, for whatever reason (TFs, Flashbacks & PvP Zones)?

So you'll probably enter the PvP zone and about a minute later all your pets will desummon because you've been low level for longer than the minute threshold.

Took my level 50 Robots/Thermal to Cap.

Summoned all the bots and did both upgrades plus the 2 fire shields on the Assault Bot.

Entered Bloody Bay and...

All my robots were gone.

Resummoned them all. Obviously I could not give the second buff in BB so I gave them the first and watched my Assault Bot die. Put the shields on one of the Protector Bots.

Exited Bloody Bay for Cap and ...

All the pets were gone.

So (being very stubborn) I summoned all my robots again to see if they would zone at all. I went to the Black Helicopter to Mercy and they zoned and were no longer mine to control and I could not summon them.

So it is badly bugged again.

Zoned a few times just doing a paper in grandville. Whether or not my pets stayed with me seemed pretty random, and whether or not they kept their buffs was equally as random.

It is definitely important to check all pets and all zoning possibilities and bug every instance that does not work. We do not want this going live working some or most of the time.

This does not bode well for us MM's!

Have faith!

I am trying to come up with my scenarios to test including zones to missions and missions to zones and different bots summoned, etc. The more data we can give them the better our chances are.

If I have a few hours this afternoon I'll log into Test and run amok with my Zombies and see what happens. It might also be a good idea to run some Ouroboros story arcs and see what happens when you zone at different levels.

havn't tried to see what happens with Malefactoring yet (test went down before I had a chance), but did have a run through several zones and recorded everything that happened and reported it in the bugs thread, like to encourage others to do this as well, these are bugs every MM is gonna want to see squashed by the time this goes live, otherwise were going to have to wait for the next patch to get it all sorted out, and if the devs are sorting out new patches out their distracted from developing going rogue.

So give them all the info you can so they have an easier time tracking whats happening down and get on with providing our next box of shiny goodness sooner

Dunno what it will be like when it goes live, but im a bit worried about lag when this goes live. IE: millions of pets standing around the BM or in AE buildings.

I was testing Necro last night and I was surprised when I exited the paper mish and my pets were still with me. I totally forgot about this new feature. hehe

It is pretty good if you know an ambush mish in advance.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I, for one maybe, didn't wanna read all notes :P, am split at this.

I agree that if you get ambushed outside a mish, this will be more safe, and vice-versa of course. Though, I am fearing that having your pets out in the PvE zones (i.e. Sharkhead Isle) will cause a lot of unnecessary and annoying aggro.

I suspect this may be necessary as any pet mez powers work differently in PVP. The PVE pets got to go, and PVP pets need to be summoned.

I think it's related to the detoggle bug that's still occurring. The server forgets the status of one's powers and effects, and runs up some patrol XP too.

In issue 16, this is actually immediate if the pets level is higher than the pet owner's. So, let's say you're a 50. You summon your pets. You join a team that lowers your level to 25. As soon as you accept this level change, your pets go bye bye.

The same would occur entering a zone where your level is being dropped. Verified this two ways. One by starting a flashback mission. Second by entering an AE mission which was below my mission. In both cases, the effect was immediate.

So Zoning Pets is really nothing special because of Super-SK. *sigh*

No, it'll be nothing special because of the bugs.

BUT - On an ITF... now the ambush once you go into the last mission doesn't faceplant you. Walk out of a mission into an ambush? Hey! I'm not dead!

Bounce around doing paper missions at -1/x8 and don't have to resummon every mission? FTW!

This is a really nice QoL enhancement for us.

Did a little experimenting today. Two out of 4 mission arcs I did solo, my pets did indeed zone out with me, but they were no longer on my pet bar and appeared as mobs would to me instead of as my pets. When I zoned back into another mission the bug went away and my pet commands/bar was restored. The other 2 times things worked properly.

Not sure what to make of it, didn't notice anything terribly different between the 4 attempts, so not sure what the unknown factor is that made things not work. It could have been that my protector bots had summoned their own seeker pets (which don't appear on my bar) before I zoned. I didn't notice.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is it just bots? Is it just me?

Anshar, I have seen a variety of stances, buffs, and statuses of my necros when I zone from missions. I, too, notice the necros will zone out of a mission and be 'npc's' and not on my pet bar but they follow me around. One time, I was in a mood it didn't bother me between missions, I ran to the next mission door, and the 'non-pets' were attacked by a Family gunner. Suddenly as the zombies counterattacked to being attacked, they were 'added' back into my pet bar and were controllable by me again.

Many times, I enter a mission with buffed pets, I am thermal, and the buffs drop when I am in the mission. It's still entering a mission 'bare' where a door ambush takes your MM out with no bodyguard to help at first.
