The ideal stalker-hunter build?
I think you have no brains because you can't use phase shift immediately after hibernate. They added a 2min cool down that hibernate and phase shift share after ether of them end. But nice try. Pz don't talk about things you know nothing about.

You can use both in the 30 second period before no phase kicks in.

Do most stalkers have above 911 ft perception (invisibilty[611ft] plus invis-IO[300ft] - the stealth cap for heroes)? I would think one of the best ways to hunt or gain an advantage over a stalker is where you could see them within 10 feet, but they cant see you at all, if its true most stalkers dont bother with perception at all.)
Including the stealth bonus from a recent phase shift (last 2 mins after shifting), a hero could get up to 1133 stealth, which is 10ft away from stealth cap, so even if a stalker had max perception (doubtful-rarely) in this situation they could only see you 20ft away.
They only do decent damage from hide. The only time a stalker is a threat is if he is setting or closing a spike for a team. The rest of the time they are pretty much just an annoyance once you get used to them.
This was only true against bad players pre pvp 2.0. Stalkers were rarely an issue unless you stood still alot or liked typing in zones. Either way if you had that problem you probably deserved to die. I can probably count on two hands the amount of players left who can stalk at a level that anyone would need to worry about. Most of em never even log in. So if you are still having problems with stalkers you probably need to look at your playstyle and builds and see what you can best change. Odds are slim we will ever see anything more than minor tweaks to pvp for some time, so its best to learn to deal with what we have. |
Sorry I have offended you Emperess Watermelon. Please bring some of your amusing pvp knowledge in here. Its great to hear your epic stories of how great flying energry blasters are that you almost got to 400 rep after several months of playing.
While I assure you there a great many people who have more skill in pvp than me, my knowledge is pretty dead on most the time. And having to put up like with people like you that think they have a clue makes me a bit rude from time to time. Doesn't exaclty make me wrong though. So from now on how about add something useful or go tell people they suck in local while you get wrecked, *****.

Sorry to ask but.. noob question incoming:
Can someone explain 'spikes'?

In PvP most of the time it will be 0, but then imagine a stalker comes and uses AS on you, on the graph of the damage you're taking there will be a massive "Spike" of damage. It basically refers to burst damage.
And I would say that the best way to deal with Stalkers would be to stick with a group of heroes, they'll be a lot less inclined to attack you if they think they'll die. Another good thing to do is use a power like Rain of Fire, where you can just drop, stand in the middle of it and hope that any stalkers get hit by it if they try and attack you (this has become a lot more likely since i13), and know that they will avoid attacking you unless they're desperate. Basically the best way to deal with stalkers is psychological, use any deterrent you have and eventually they will become desperate and make mistakes or they'll just avoid attacking you.
Stalkers arnt OP'd. By far the 1 of the easiest kill when there out of hide. Sure they can be annoying like mac said with the trow fishes and stuff, but not anything to worry abot for a compitent player. Me personally i like baiting stalkers with a squishy for my teamates to wreck shop.
But to answer the OP post, back when i was still fresh meat and had the hate stalkers syndrom i made a kat/wp scrapper and acoladed him out with alot of health. To me that toon gives stalkers a lot of trouble, just for the fact that i can see them at capped perception within 10 feet. Within that range you can see a AS getting rdy and disrupt it. For new players i wouldnt suggest a weapon as a primary if ou go /wp, simpaly just because of the draw. But /wp can get it done if played right. I would like to lean toward a fire/wp, but it depends on preference. I brought mine out last night with a zone full of stalkers to help my team and it did it's job really well.
The best part is the first time you interupt a stalker AS when they dont know that you can see them. The funny part is being able to see your death from 4 stalkers before they AS. But thats just teamwork, not me saying they are OP'd.
Color caltrops black and stand in dimly lit or dark tile areas.
The difference from perception cap and stealth cap is 10ft. If a stalker has Hide, stealth and Stealth IO 10ft is the best you can hope to achieve.
If you want a stalker hunter i suggest Fire/Regen/Weapons scrapper. Take tactics, and targetting drone with a perception IO for Perc cap. Webnade + Caltrops DoT's to keep stalkers out of hide and regen to ensure your still standing when they start to run. However the thing about stalker now is they are stupidly overpowered hence why there are nothing but them in zones now. Hibernate, ? Phase, ? Moment of Glory? With almost every stalker having these at it's disposal the only stalker you are going to hunt and kill will be a very stupid one, or one that suffers from lag. |
if nobody has pointed it out, tactics targeting drone and precep IO isn't enough to hit cap for a scrapper. A scrappers tactics gives about 11 less precep then most. I tried it with my scrapper. Was gonna ask here and just figured it out myself by comparing it with others.
Roll MA or broadsword, a lucky crit and you'll hit just over 1000. If stalkers with phase annoy you grab phase. With caltrops you can lay them down beside the hibernating stalker and with Build up you should hit through MoG, unless they slot them but i havn't seen that for a while. And yes i've killed a stalker hitting MoG just under half health, it doesn't make them invincible.
If you want to kill one stalker, i would probably go fire/dev or something like that. If you want to survive an attack of 2-3+, make a regen with caltrops.

Most stalker secondaries come with +precep, like focused senses or the /ninja ranged defense toggle. Heroes cap for stealth is 510 or something, and base precep is 500. If the stalker had no precep at all, he wouldn't be able to see a maxed stealth hero. But as i mentioned before, most have precep, even though they do not aim for it. 10 feet is a lot closer then people think, i stopped aiming for precep cap to kill stalkers because something like caltrops was just so much more useful.
Phase shift doesn't give you +stealth, at least not while it's on.
Hero stealth cap: 510ish
Hero Precep cap: 1113ish
Stalker stealth cap: 1103ish
Stalker precep cap:1113ish
I spec'd my stalker to become a stalker hunter once for warburg. Max precep, when a stalker was about to AS a standing blaster i would AS the stalker. I loved those moments.

Fire/ss is pretty effective against stalkers. It has burn to stop AS and quicksand to take them out of hide. Stone prision has a bit of dot that will keep them out of hide longer and the extra damage from FE helps take them down faster.
Heres a vid that shows just how effective quicksand and burn can be against stalkers. It takes a bit of skill to play one well though. Heres a vid of the same build (fire/ss) getting worked by the same stalkers from the first vid.
as a stalker I like the soft target bait, hit elude run in kill and run away. Dont hunt stalkers, be one. Do the hunting
All I have to say is LOL stalkers...
Aren't they the main ingredient in mince-meat pie?
Funny thing is that if the stalker is simply relying on AS, they are a non-issue. If they are the noobs who don't know how to AS and do nothing but SHARK SHARK, Then there can be an issue.
A stalker with sharks can put out about 900-1k damage spike with BU+Shark+SSJ+Placate+shark, after that they have to run or try to stay around, both of which results in No kill if theyre after a decent player. Make that two stalkers and squishies start dieing fast. The sad part is I am noticing a BAD trend, there are stalkers who don't KNOW how to use AS, and its gotten to the point that I've seen a stalker or two without AS in their pvp build.
I think War, myself and one other stalker are the only stalkers that are active that don't have leviathan.
After coming back this weekend, I respecced my spines/nin into sharks. Had the dark set before, with shadow meld. Really loving the sharks. And yes, it's made me use AS less. Simply because I don't have to. The extreme shark damage actually gives a stalker a slight chance of killing something without AS.
But on my EM/regen, I plan to stay with shadow meld, so I'll still be relying on AS for the most part.

I have an old EM/Nin stalker that I've not taken any of the epics on. For me the fun is to hit from hide, stand and scrap while I can, then bug out. Granted it's not the most successful thing ever and yeah, I get caught out at times but for me the point is to have fun, not max out kills.
I plan to spec my old EM/Regen into Sharks. Why? I'm either a noob who think he's awesome or someone with the common sense to take and enjoy a very powerful attack.
I simply have the annoyance of the generalization that all stalkers are bad shark spammers.

Being regen, I already basically cannot possibly die, unless it's like 6v1, in which case I do have a slight chance of dying. So shadow meld only marginally helps me, and the dark blast is just completely useless. It's intended to be a ranged followup, but as such, it does practically nothing. It's just laughably bad compared to a shark. So yeah, haven't completely decided yet, but I'll probably change to a shark spammer
I'd switch if I were you. Shadow meld is great for def based toons, and can work with WP if built right. With regen it doesn't really do much. SM is close to useless on a regen, especially since they already have SM on steroids aka MoG.
I only have 2 power picks available, so the question is...should I take shark + the shark hold...or shark + hibernoob? I'm leaning towards the hold, since it's a very good extra ranged attack, and I already have phase.
If that doesn't work. Hibernate. Become invisible/undetectable while you are waiting. If heroes surround you or throw some aoe on your area, phase shift immediately after hibernate ends.
It does not take brains to play a stalker; you do not have to be on a team. All you need, is patience (the ability to wait for a target). Just watch who the other villains are attacking and clean up.
