Rad Blaster for I16
Blasters will not be getting a themed secondary. Energy Manipulation is pretty close, though.
There shouldn't be too much changes in the set, as I remember a redname saying they're profilerating the sets that would not need much changes.
Altering Neutrino Bolt and X-ray Beam is possible, so that they will recharge slower than the Defender version but also deal more damage and use more endurance (Dam/End ratio staying the same)
Hopefully they will not pull another Psychic Blast disaster and make Cosmic Burst do, say, 70ish damage on a Blaster like they did with Will Domination.
And will blasters also be getting the radiation emission secondary?

As for a prospective Radiation Manipulation Secondary...? Doubtful. No mention of that has been made at all in the announcements. IF (and that's a big if) it does come to fruition, it'll be a huge surprise.

I have a concept hero that I'm dying to make, even made up the costume and saved it already. I'll go ahead and check out the other secondaries and see how they fit with my concept.
Thanks guys, that about answers my questions!
Altough Psi Blaster Primary Will Dom doesnt do good dmg it is very nice for the placate sleep proc from sleep purp set and even though Will Dom doesnt do great dmg , Mental Blast does high dmg and its very quick recharge and even though TK bugg was fixed TK still does good i still think psi is nice though ( this being pvp , psi in pve lol 2 me at least ).
but talking about rad blast i 2 will be making a rad/em like most probably and i wont be disappionted if Rad Blast doesnt do great dmg .

I'm looking to probably change my Rad/Rad Defender for a Rad/EM blaster with radiation green pompoms. Why? In character reasons, but still looking forwards to Aim/Build Up/Boost Range Electron Hazes and Cosmic Bursts.
I'm currently rolling with a Rad/GreenFire blaster.
So far the combo seems pretty potent. Looking forward to slotting up Electron Haze a little more.
I'm kinda surprised how well the synergy seems. Kinda feels like a radiation secondary with the color change. Not counting the swords. I so wish they'd given us the option to turn the swords into pom poms...
I'm curious to see how effective Irradiate is going to be for debuffing purposes now.

Then around 11 or so in the hollows it was me, another blaster (psy I think) a PB and defender I think, same situation, blaster kept dying, me. the pb and the def were finishing off the mobs. I think that in 13 levels he's only faceplanted twice, once was a team wipe, the other I jumped into the middle of a mob to use combustion and the tank ran off and they all aggro'd on me
Yep, this was well worth waiting for...
Contemplating going Rad/Ice, because frankly it just seems like an offensive combo built around the idea of screwing the enemy over period. Irradiate+Chilling Embrace, Ice Patch+Shiver+Electron Haze+Neutron Bomb.
I rolled a Rad/Ment Blaster, and is currently sitting at 26. I need to go get Neutron Bomb (didn't have time to train) but I love the combo so far. Tons of AoE damage already, and when at range, Subdue is a good substitute for Cosmic Burst, but in no way replaces its awesomeness. The Damage on it is amazing, Mag 3 stun for 9 seconds, and a huge -def (though for like 3 seconds).
By level 50 I'll have 2 Cones, 2 PBAoE attacks, 2 Targeted AoE attacks (I'm dipping into force mastery and Repulsion Bomb), and a PBAoE End/Regen Boost/Debuff. I think I might have to respec out of either the cones or the Targeted AoEs due to an attack overload, but considering I'm dead set on sticking with the PBAoEs the Targeted ones would be more of a benefit, plus Repulsion Bomb is knockdown instead of Electron Haze's Knockback.
Don't forget all the Achilles' Heel Procs yall can slot. I have over 100 sitting in my base that I'll be selling for 4-5 times what I bought them for. I'll be glad to sell them to you.
I got a lvl 14 Rad/Elec blaster. She's cool but I haven't gotten the hang of her yet. She draws alot of aggro with her AoE attacks, she's pretty weak on ST as her only attacks include Neutrino Bolt and Havok Punch (and the immobilize), she runs out of endurance fast (she usually has Electric Field on), and dies often because she has no mitigation.
It's pretty rough but I like her look and theme and I'm sure she'll improve a lot with more powers and slotting.
Good set once you have everything. I admit to being somewhat disappointed that they normalized the tier 1/tier 2 attacks. Neutrino bolt in every other version of rad blast is a quirky, fast-cycling proc horse. Ours is a vanilla tier 1 blaster attack. You do have three ST attacks, but the third is not your fast-activating, OMGWTFBBQ heavy hitter. Instead it's a hybrid between your ST control power and your tier 3 attack -- control is decent, if short-lived out of the box, with much better damage than most blaster controls, but a longer activation than any tier 3.

I go more by how the character "feels", how fast the enemies drop, and how often I faceplant. I have a defender that has Rad blast, but as far as how the 2 compare, the blaster Rad blast, and the defender one, I haven't got a clue, but I know that my rad/fire blaster is damn fun to play, I hold me own on all of the teams I've been on and have only faceplanted 4-5 times in 20 levels.
But I DO take everyones advice, if someone gives me some tips to make my guys better, I take a look at it, see if it fits into my playstyle and if so, I'll give it a shot.
See that's the thing with me, I've been playing for 4 years, just got my 51 month vet reward this month, and I STILL don't know what "tiers" are. I don't know what normalized is or means. I mean I LOVE the game, I guess I'm not a real numbers guy. I mean I know what the dam, acc, end numbers mean when I look at the slots on my characters, I always try to max them out. All of my characters are IO'd out, but not purples, or the most expensive sets, but they do the trick. |
Normalized is what they did as they were getting ready to release new Defiance. The tier 1 and tier 2 attacks of many blasters had widely variable animation times, activation times, and recharge times. Since your tier 1 and tier 2 base blasts are so important to both the buff you can get from New Defiance by attacking and the ability to fire through mez, the devs "evened" out the sets so that all tier 1 and tier 2 attacks are comparable across all the blast sets. They further monkeyed with the other powers in some sets to make sure that a blaster would carry a certain sustainable amount of damage buff from New Defiance for teh average player. This process was called "normalizing."
Tier is just the order the powers are available in the set. Each set is a list of nine. The one you have access to first is your tier 1, the one you have access to fifth is your tier five.

Archery's tier 1 is Snap shot. It's the 1st power in the set, recharges the quickest and does the least damage. It's tier 2 is Aimed shot which is the 2nd power in the list, recharges a bit slower and does more damage than the 1st power. Archery's tier 3 blast is Blazing Arrow. Although it is the 4th power in the archery set, it's the 3rd single target attack of the set which does the most damage of any other single target attack in the set (well, except Ranged Shot but that's considered to be a Snipe, not a tiered blast).
So tier 1= Snap
tier 2 = Aimed
tier 3 = Blazing
For electric blast, it is missing its 'tier 3' so to speak. It has Charged bolts (the 1st power, recharges quick and does the least damage), Lightning bolt (the 2nd power, recharges a bit slower and does more damage) and that's it. The only other single target attack it gets is Tesla Cage which does less damage than the tier 1 attack (Charged bolts).
So tier 1 = charged bolts
tier 2 = lightning bolt
tier 3 = ???
I'm definitely going to be making a radiation blaster after I16 hits, but I'm wondering if the Radiation primary is going to be like the Defender radiation primary? Maybe with some changes to power levels, activation times, etc?
And will blasters also be getting the radiation emission secondary?
I've been searching for days, probably in the wrong places, but I hven't been able to get much information.
Thanks in advance!
