Farming Tanks
I'm kinda sad I missed this thread the first time around. Tanks make decent farmers as you don't have to pump as much into their survivability but much more into their damage output through recharge in most cases.
Shield/SS/Pyre and Shield/Fire/Pyre are solid against anything.
Fire/SS/Pyre is brutal against council robots/mechs who don't run from burn and happen to be weak versus smashing damage. Its easy to toss a map of them together in the AE and go to town on it.
I guess I'm the oddball here.....I use my Fire/Stone/Pyre tank for farming and AV soloing....

Make all IO's available in Paragon Market! NCSoft, the chinese are making BIG money selling influence and other stuff in the game. Best way to stop them = make the paragon market a place to buy all IO's and perhaps other things as well.
I had been reading this thread and I was jut hoping someone would bring villains to the table.
I wholy agree with this. My decked out SS/Fire brute PWNS. I know what the poster I quoted feels like. In fact, I do not doubt that villain players with decked out specialty brute builds for farming will tell you they can compete with the best of them. Just recently, in Freedom server, I was out doing some mish's in my arc when I see the following "LF anyone to duel farm...." , from a "super pimped-out" Fire/Kin (according to him)... then--and I can't remember how it got to this--but he stated that he challenged anyone to outspeed him and out farm him. At this point, sensing the arrogance, I felt the urge to try to humble this man down a bit since I was getting a little annoyed. I put on broadcast "I would put my SS/Fire/Elec brute any day of the week over your Fire/Kin, and on maps of lvl 54's all Bosses and LTs--NO MINIONS." He said, he would crush my brute. I simply said I would see him in RWZ, in AE building and we could do it. We had witnesses who wanted to watch. Let me shorten this a bit. My brute was ahead of the Fire/Kin in the farm and I would have finished faster than him, but he died. When you die, there is no point to continue as the advantage in time would be too much. I never brag about my brute being able to outperform anyone, except in this win. I won but I did not rub it in. He was a gentleman and gave me my props. Full bar of FURY is a HUGE damage bonus, and FURY belongs to brutes only. Double stacked rage on a brute with full fury, then you ad Fiery Embrace... the numbers are RIDICULOUS for brutes damage... 454 dmg on a lvl 54 boss from KO blow... is SICK, notice boss, not minion or LT. Foot stomp at 260 dmg or so to the group of lvl 54s. The insane amount of damaga of burn while they are in electric fences from a brute with full fury, fiery embrace, and rage.... you got to see it to believe it. To the OP: If you want to give melee a try for farming, I am honest, brutes are BRUTAL, just awesome SMASH. Nothing smashes like a brute. Name of brute: Abysmal-Terror. |
This happened before boss farming was nerfed, so we were farming 52 bosses. I herded a mob and killed it and he was pretty impressed. Then, he herded a mob at the same time as me and brought it to the same spot, the tank dropped I stayed alive to finish off both mobs. So not only was I more damaging, I could survive more than that tank.

I soloed Bobcat on my fire/ice tank in I4... she used Unstoppable twice and I was finally able to get her down. Much has changed since then and I will not try it again. (I hate fighting bosses solo on the fire/ice tank...)

Funny, I have called out, in-game, other tankers who have said they solo AVs. I got toons with AVs in the arcs. I have only had one tanker do it with me watching. That was a shield/dark. I think it's fun to call out peeps on things like these, since I have seen most AV soloist fail.
So, the challenge still stands for him. Show it or it did not happen, to me, at least.

Hello there, I was going to start a new thread for this, but felt it was more appropriate to put it in here.
Its basically another "rate my build" post. I kinda get the feeling these kinds of posts can get annoying - but I really, really want input on this build. So I appologize in advance.^^ The following are two builds for a Fiery Aura / Super Strength Tanker I am leveling up. The first is his build at level 32 and the second level 50. My primary goal is solo and group farming. In each build, I attempted to max out defense for smash & lethal damage with IO sets. For the level 50 build I was able to reach 44.5%. I understand that 45% is a target number refered to as the "soft cap." Will missing it by 0.5% greatly diminish my defense? Also, I read that Invulability tankers can reach the soft cap for S/L damage by lvl 32. Is this possible with a Fiery Aura tanker? In addition, this is my first "farming" toon. I understand that its all about AoE damage. Do I have that covered with Blazing Aura, Burn, Foot Stomp, and Fire Ball boosted by Rage and Fiery Embrace? just wanted to put my 2 cents in here.. i ahave a ss/fire/fire tank that i farm ae missions with. the missions are fire damage and the mobs are all around me. they have bosses lts and minions in it.. i can kill every thing in 5 mins... that means i do a mission every five mins or so. the whole map!!!.. i have 4 fire/kins and i do the bm farm i can't kill the whole map in 5 mins..i have seen 2 fire/kins do it in five mins but not one... i use one for farming drops and the other for leveling my toons i also have 6 accounts.. i love farming. the fastest farmer i have found is my ss/fire/fire tank. but i am making a ss/fire/fire brute right now to try it out and see how it works. i might try fire spines scrapper now..lol

I love it when people feel it necessary to resurrect a thread that was last posted in almost 2 years ago just to tell someone that their build sucked. >.>
My Ice/Fire Tank is what I use when I farm. It can handle a wide range of foes and ofc has endless End, a heal, 2 fast recharging PBAOE's, a decent proc'd damage aura and decent ST damage. It's less rollercoaster clicky than my Fire/Fire and, to me, does a better job.
Masterminds annoy everybody, sooner or later. Heck, Masterminds annoy themselves.
