I think you severely underestimate how much more damage Fire does than its competition. And that's not including pets.

QFT. The two fire/kins we run with mentioned that they really don't need their imps as their overall damage isn't affected as much without them.

The amount of combined damage they do is ridiculous. Remember fire is the most damaging of the primaries, then damage capping it with FS and adding in bonus damage from containment which does not affect the damage cap. The difference in damage between fire and other controller primaries is just amplified.

Sorry, I was trying to keep it short, not cause trouble.

I have 3 trollers myself (ill, earth, fire), i very well know fire is by far the most damaging.
(if they ever would nerf the hell out of fire/, i think it would be par with regen's IH toggle to a clicky nerf )

Back to tankers. I wonder what elec is gonna be for tankers, with the new energize power they have a interesting new power, although i dont think that it will be enough alone to keep you going. But it has a auto hit end-recovery with only slots already below 30sec, build in 20% recharge (40%ish to go).

I'm still jumping around with my WP/fire and fire/ice, last one to see if the original concept is still viable (after numberous of nerfs on burn). WP/fire has huge survivability, so i can mainly focus on the attacks, and with several powers with heal, those doctored wounds help alot getting alot more recharge and still keep it rather cheap. (as altoholic, life is harsh here).

If you knew that Fire Controllers represent the best damage then why did you make that silly post in the first place?

i can tell this is in a tanks forum...my main is a fire/kin/earth troller build to the gills...well over a billion in him only cause prices skyrocketed. my troller can out farm any toon in game period kruunch has a boss farm that i can solo spawned for atleast 6 havent tried more cause i just found it. its all about what your built to do i have just about all defence spft capped cause you dont have to worrie about damage with fs you have alot more freedoms. before they "fixed" the final room farm mission i build my own that was extreme fire/fire scrappers 300+ baddies all at once and they all rez. i would do that with out dieing once. im not one who posts my builds (if ya cant figure it out for yourself im not doin it for you) but i am willing to race anyone on live servers when they come up.

the reason i am here lookin is im tryin to find a good tank to farm with for a change so far ss/sd is the winner. double rage, hp boost, damage boost 2 mitigation aoe's not too bad.

ive farmed with everything too i have a spines/da, spines/fire and a arch/mm blaster and there builds are all of the uber sort. so im not partial to fire/kins but when something is the best at something its the best there is no arguing it!

First, I'd like to say is a Tank is the last thing I would use for farming with their great survivability and mediocre damage, the idea of farming is you know, kill as fast as you can. My Fire/Psi Permadom used to be my fastest farmer until i15(PSW nerf). But now My Spines/Fire Scrapper or SS/Fire Brute would run circles around any Tank or Fire/Kin.

I'm not denying the fact that Fire/Kins are great for farming. Not many builds can farm well with just SO's. Though the 2 toons listed above both outdamage my Fire/Kin.

Its hard to read is it? I am not talking about damage, i reply to this part:

Quote:
I don't think tank, scrapper or blaster archtypes have a build that can cap S/L defense, cap damage, come close to HP cap, capable of achieving permahasten and do it for under 20 million
This i reply to, where does he say anywhere 'and does trashload of damage'?

Im saying that nearly everything is done purly by kin, the reason other AT's cant easily reach that (or basicly, never - brute perhaps only due already high dmg cap and fury). A corrupter and defender might do the same (provided they have SL armor from the epic/patron), and i know they wont do the same damage, but regarding this post.. they can also do this.

Ahhh you're correct.

Most people would take it for granted if you're talking about damage capping a toon, you're actually going to work on damage capping the highest damage toon possible.

Did I hear farm tank? Well, here is the answer. Fire/SS/Pyre. This is the highest damage tank (other than SD/SS/Pyre) that I can come up with. I spent a LOT of time fiddling with tiny nuances to squeeze teh highest damage potential out of any build. I have this tank complete, it cost somewhere between 5 and 6 billion inf to complete and it farms okay. I find it to be less than enjoyable to play, however because there are too many things I have to monitor while farming with it. I have to hit rage when it recharges, hit FE when it recharges, hit healing flames when I ned to , hit consume when its needed... I greatly prefer my WP tanks because they are so easy to just turn the toggles on, roll my face on the attack keys and win.

But yes, I think that the fire/SS/pyre tank would give any scrapper a real run for its money... the reason I believe this lies with the power that Rage provides... Stacked (as it is nearly all the time with this build) I am a very short bit off of the damage cap all the time. Scrappers have a harder time staying in this state without outside buffs (which is why I cant wait to see SS brought to scrappers). I like playing this char for farming almost as little as I like my fire/kin controller. Both of them require far too much clickyness and are far too twitchy to play for my taste, but they are both hella fast. For my money though, I find a WP/SS or WP fire tank far more relaxing and enjoyable to play. WP being the awesomesauce that it is and.. not really that much slower..

The tank is pretty much as fast as a tank can get and from what I can tell (at least on paper) it will give any scrapper (fire/spines included) a real run for its money.

Here is the build...

I usually farm with a SS/Fire/Mu Brute villain side and I almost never stack rage, it's not worth it in the end. Yes, you get extra damage, but you also crash more often which really hurts your damage output more than you think. Although, I never tested it out with a Tank I don't think there's much of a difference.

Not Bad Ishtar.

It's not easy to push a tank up to scrapper DPS levels but that build does it.

However, I found it easier (and much cheaper) to build a scrapper with Tanker levels of survivability instead. (about 650 million invested in my scrapper)

And based on your comments, I think you would enjoy playing the Claws/WP scrapper more because when AoE farming I just hit three attack buttons.

Still, your build is one of the best "Scranker" builds I have yet to see.

Now please, chill. Yes, you're proud of your character and I'm sure it can do wonders.

It's more about proof. Anyone can be as aggressive as they want, as no one is getting hurt. Maybe you need to understand the difference between gaming and real life. The point was to put up or shut up. I know how sketchy it gets when one mentions fraps or recording, so I would assume no one had anything to say rather do, about the situation.

The challenge was put up, and no one stepped up.

Oh there were plenty of challenges thrown left and right, but I rarely see these 'challenges' actually happen, they are just wind and boasting with a layer of bragging.

It's not even as if there would be proof of anything, a fire/kin in someone's hands would be better than a tank depending on build, enemies and 'skill' while on someone else's hand it would be worse. Same for the tank.

Just like people complaining over and over about /regen being so sucky and someone else comes in and shows that he soloed four AVs at the same time.

It doesn't change the core of the post you quoted : the talking had been civil until that guy stepped up and went rude, agressive even, with some personal jabs thrown in.

*If* he was so damn sure of being so superior, then just post the number of the farm he uses and then Youtube a run of it, and his challenger would Youtube running the same map.

Slapping someone with a glove and asking for a duel? Please!

But maybe I don't see the difference in gaming and real life.

Why are people taking earth over fire for their controller epics?

Just a small correction,
Kruunch said his Spines Fire Scrapper would kick your Fire Tanker, not his Fire/Kin

Actually there was one challenge thrown out (by Coldmed) and one challenge accepted (by me).

Coldmed has since taken his toys and gone home.

Shrug.

WAITAMINUTE!!!
No face off? No Youtube vids?
I was really looking forward to this.
Specially since my brother and I had a discussion about which would farm better a spines fire scrap or a fire fire tank.
I know ColdMeds tank is Blazingly expensive, I wanted to see what it could do.
Likewise this would be the first time I got to see you in action.
I'm bummed

To softcap S/L defense and to cap HP.

Coldmed, what the hell are you farming if you think a Fire/Kin or any farming toon for that matter would die against minions and LT's? If you're purposely farming hard enemies, you're doing it wrong. And just like Kruunch said I would embarrass your tank with my Spines/Fire, my Fire/Kin is on an inactive account.

I've farmed with my fire/fire/pyre, SD/SS/Pyre, spine/fire/body, Fire/SD/Pyre, and my arch/mm/pyre blaster.... Blaster was probably the fastest depending on the mobs. It makes a big difference as to what mobs you do. I can even keep up with a fully IO'd fire/kin/earth in a demon farm barring few misses (the only downfall to the arch/mm is missing one of your main 3 or 4 hits, thats all you need to down the whole mob and picking off stragglers takes too much time). Once you add in Bosses, blaster has a hard time keeping up at all though.

I have to say I enjoy the SD/SS/Pyre far more farming then the fire/fire/pyre due to the survivability in almost any situation and having to heal less with all the KD.

Someone is trying to persuade me if yur build isnt Willpower/Firey melee you cant farm at all. I tried to explain that Shield Defense/Super Strength can farm well to but they disagree. Just kinda irritates me that they only think that ONE build can farm and none else.

My Shield/Electric tanker makes a quite adequate farmer, especially on standard content like radios and Boreas. But I'm mostly of the camp that for farming generally, it's easier to make a scrapper tough enough to last than it is to bring a tanker up to that level of DPS.

My usual farming characters are a Spines/WP scrapper - quite adequately tough, not bursty but dependable, and able to run continuously. This character works the Roman wall quite nicely and is also effective against Rikti. I'm also maturing an Electric/Shield scrapper who should do quite well in this, though she may be a bit more bursty than the Spines.

Have no idea how to farm with a Fire/Kin controller. I made one, got him to 35, but the endurance efficiency is awful and so is the liability to mezz, and it's no fun to play on teams either.

I'm not denying the fact that Fire/Kins are great for farming. Not many builds can farm well with just SO's. Though the 2 toons listed above both outdamage my Fire/Kin.
I had been reading this thread and I was jut hoping someone would bring villains to the table.

I wholy agree with this. My decked out SS/Fire brute PWNS. I know what the poster I quoted feels like. In fact, I do not doubt that villain players with decked out specialty brute builds for farming will tell you they can compete with the best of them.

Just recently, in Freedom server, I was out doing some mish's in my arc when I see the following "LF anyone to duel farm...." , from a "super pimped-out" Fire/Kin (according to him)... then--and I can't remember how it got to this--but he stated that he challenged anyone to outspeed him and out farm him. At this point, sensing the arrogance, I felt the urge to try to humble this man down a bit since I was getting a little annoyed. I put on broadcast "I would put my SS/Fire/Elec brute any day of the week over your Fire/Kin, and on maps of lvl 54's all Bosses and LTs--NO MINIONS." He said, he would crush my brute.

I simply said I would see him in RWZ, in AE building and we could do it. We had witnesses who wanted to watch. Let me shorten this a bit. My brute was ahead of the Fire/Kin in the farm and I would have finished faster than him, but he died. When you die, there is no point to continue as the advantage in time would be too much. I never brag about my brute being able to outperform anyone, except in this win. I won but I did not rub it in. He was a gentleman and gave me my props.

Full bar of FURY is a HUGE damage bonus, and FURY belongs to brutes only. Double stacked rage on a brute with full fury, then you ad Fiery Embrace... the numbers are RIDICULOUS for brutes damage... 454 dmg on a lvl 54 boss from KO blow... is SICK, notice boss, not minion or LT. Foot stomp at 260 dmg or so to the group of lvl 54s. The insane amount of damaga of burn while they are in electric fences from a brute with full fury, fiery embrace, and rage.... you got to see it to believe it.

To the OP: If you want to give melee a try for farming, I am honest, brutes are BRUTAL, just awesome SMASH. Nothing smashes like a brute.

Name of brute: Abysmal-Terror.

Woah, old thread. Farming Tankers, in a nutshell:

Everything else is better than a Tanker. That being said... some combination of Elec Melee, Super Strength, or Fiery Melee along with Shields, Fiery Aura, or Willpower and Pyre mastery will be okay. Compared to a Dom, Scrapper, Blaster, Brute, or Corruptor a Tanker will be slow, but they're workable.
